Scarborough Thanks MSNBC Boss for Booting Liberal Hosts

The morning after Al Sharpton was exiled to the Sunday morning desert from his evening show, and not long after Ed Schultz and Alex Wagner were relieved of their hosting duties, Joe Scarborough has profusely thanked NBC News honcho Andrew Lack for making those changes.

On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough was discussing stunning poll results in which the first word that came to voters' minds about Hillary was "liar."  Asked what was the worst thing said about him in such polling, Scarborough answered "he works for MSNBC." But Joe then added, his hands steepled in a gesture of gratitude: "not any more though, cause things have changed. Thank you, Andy. Thank you very much."

You're a TV show host, and your guest has just suggested he'd like to "do" something to a sitting US senator such that he doesn't even want to describe it on air. Think you might challenge him about it?

Not if you're Ed Schultz.  On this evening's Ed Show, renegade "Republican" Lawrence Wilkerson, former chief of staff to Colin Powell and a big supporter of President Obama's Iran deal, was complaining about Democrats who have questioned the deal.  According to Wilkerson, the problem is people who are too "enamored about the State of Israel." Singling out Chuck Schumer, Wilkerson says "you've got guys like Chuck Schumer, whom I'd like to -- I won't say what I'd like to do to Chuck."

Has Ed Schultz watched The Manchurian Candidate one time too many?  On his MSNBC show this evening, Ed tried to pin a wacky conspiracy theory on conservatives.  According to Schultz: conservatives are "trying to get Americans to buy into this is if you're a Muslim and you're here in the united States, you're a plant."  So conservatives are trying to convince Americans that Dearborn, Michigan is one big sleeper cell? Really, Ed? Got any evidence to support your fevered accusation?

On his MSNBC show this evening, Ed Schultz surprisingly said "when something like [Charlie Hebdo] comes up, when you start talking about the militarization of police you start understand it a little bit or maybe to view it in a different light."   Welcome to the real world, Ed.

Ed Schultz to Valerie Plame's Husband: Didn't Cheney 'Torture' Your Family?

With 2015 only a couple of weeks away, Ed Schultz just managed to sneak under the wire in the race for Most Inane Question of the Year by an MSNBC Host.  Speaking to Valerie Plame's husband Joe Wilson on the The Ed Show this evening, Schultz suggested: "Your wife was outed by the Vice-President and now he's saying he has no problem with torture. How do you feel about that? I mean isn't it torture what your family went through?"

Wilson wasn't wacky enough to bite on Ed's bait, but in other comments made clear that he would like to see Cheney prosecuted in international and/or domestic courts.

Lefty Lawyer: Loretta Lynch a Wall Street Lackey

How far left is frequent Ed Show guest Mika Papantonio?  The class-action lawyer has criticized AG nominee Loretta Lynch for being too business-friendly.  

On Schultz's show today, Papantonio was asked to comment on the possibility that Ted Cruz would block Lynch's confirmation should President Obama issue executive amnesty.  According to the lefty lawyer, once Cruz and other Republicans "get the memo" from Wall Street on how Lynch supposedly lets white-collar crime flourish, they will change their tune.

As luck would have it, I've never seen Mafia wives exchange air kisses as they feign affection. But I saw a close approximation of it Friday on "The Ed Show," a few hours after hearing a similiar version on Ed Schultz's radio program.

Schultz had blown a gasket over the airwaves Thursday in response to a passage from MSNBC colleague Richard Wolffe's new book, "The Message: The Reselling of President Obama." (Video, audio clips after the jump)
