During an appearance on Meet the Press, Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina hit back at moderator Chuck Todd for pushing the issue of climate change during a discussion on the ongoing California drought. Todd eagerly proclaimed “[i]n your home state of California, drought, the wildfires. More evidence is coming out from the scientific community that says climate change has made this worse. Not to say that the drought is directly caused but it’s made it worse.”

ABC’s World News Tonight chose to ignore on Wednesday the latest on the Hillary Clinton e-mail server scandal to instead continue obsessing over video of a little boy being hit in the head with a football after missing a pass from Republican Senator and presidential candidate Marco Rubio (Fl.) in Iowa. After the networks spent 18 seconds on Tuesday night and two minutes and 43 seconds Wednesday morning on the video, anchor David Muir spent another 18 seconds promoting “one unscripted moment from the campaign trail” with the football from Rubio.

The MSNBC host/NBC News correspondent insisted that because “the e-mail controversy was not really explored very adequately by the questioners, and also because of this focus on gender, [Hillary Clinton] is one of the beneficiaries of what happened ironically.”

In a rare acknowledgment of media responsibility, on Thursday’s NBC Today, co-host Matt Lauer declared that it was up to the press to properly cover the first Republican presidential debate: “...that idea of substance versus sizzle, one-liners versus issues. That's on us tomorrow as well. We’ve got to make sure that we cover what they talk about, the issues as opposed to those one-liners.”

In an interview with Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday, host Chuck Todd demanded to know why the GOP contender had been critical of the left-wing “Black Lives Matter” movement: “...you were also, in an earlier interview this week, asked about the Black Lives Matter movement. And you called it ‘silly.’ Why did you call it silly?” Todd proceeded to parrot the liberal movement’s talking points.

This week, liberal journalists use Donald Trump's rise as another reason to bash conservatives, with NBC's Chuck Todd suggesting this is a "reap-what-you-sow" moment for the GOP, even as CNN's Nia-Malika Henderson blasts that "the politics of... race baiting have defined the Republican Party for quite some time." And The Daily Beast's Jonathan Alter says it's "not a partisan comment," but "there's a vileness gap between our political parties" — with Republicans, of course, being the only ones guilty of nasty rhetoric.
