On Sunday’s Meet the Press, moderator Chuck Todd hit House Benghazi committee chairman Trey Gowdy over his questioning of Hillary Clinton last week, specifically over the subject of Sidney Blumenthal.The NBC News Political Director asked Gowdy “[y]ou had made a promise that you were keeping the focus on Benghazi. Do you feel as if you did as much or -- even some Republicans were wondering why you were going down the Sidney Blumenthal -- what some called a rabbit hole.”

Offering no surprises, Thursday’s NBC Nightly News aired glowing remarks for Hillary Clinton’s performance during the House Select Committee on Benghazi hearing with conclusions that she “stood her ground” as it “dissolved into bickering” while she “stayed above the fray” and removing Benghazi from being an issue in the 2016 campaign.

Hours ahead of Hillary Clinton’s testimony before the House Benghazi Committee on Thursday, on NBC’s Today, correspondent Andrea Mitchell acknowledged that “44% of Americans are not yet satisfied” with the former secretary of state’s answers on the scandal but also declared: “...today is, indeed, her best chance to change all of that. Assisted by the Republicans who, themselves in recent weeks, have hurt the committee’s credibility.”

First Sanders, now Trumka—are there any capitalists left on the left? On the most recent Meet the Press, Bernie Sanders made news when Chuck Todd asked him if he was a capitalist. "No," shot back Sanders, "I'm a democratic socialist." Mark Halperin was obviously taken enough by the question as to pose it on today's With All Due Respect to Richard Trumka, President of the AFL-CIO.
"No, I'm a trade unionist, quite frankly," retorted Trumka. When Halperin tried to pursue the issue, Trumka laughed it off, calling it a "silly question." Silly? The biggest union boss in America opposes the economic system that made this country great and which creates the private sector jobs his members fill? Employers have to bargain with people who reject the very premise upon which their businesses rest? Silly? You're killing us, Richard. Or should we say "Mr. President," which was the obsequious way in which Halperin and co-host John Heilemann addressed Trumka. But kudos to Halperin for posing and then pursuing the question.

On Sunday’s Meet the Press, Washington Post columnist Kathleen Parker did her best to give Hillary Clinton the “benefit of the doubt” after she has flipped her position on a number of policy issues, most recently her sudden opposition to TPP. Parker acknowledged that Clinton would never admit to changing her positions for “political expedience” in order to satisfy Bernie Sanders' supporters, but she stressed that you “can give her the benefit of the doubt too.”

The morning after House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy shocked Congress by announcing he was dropping out of the race to become the next Speaker of the House, CBS This Morning and NBC’s Today sprinted over to their analysts to tear into the “really pathetic” conservatives for creating a “chaotic” situation for the House that shows they’re “impossible to run.”

Following the horrific shooting at an Oregon community college last week, during an appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday New York Times Magazine writer Mark Leibovich conveniently blamed the NRA for preventing gun control legislation from passing Congress. The liberal journalist complained that the issue of guns is “politicized because the NRA pretty much owns more than half of Congress. That is why this issue is basically immutable. You mentioned the constitution, public opinion. The other piece is the political impossibility...”

After part one of Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd’s interview with Hillary Clinton aired on Sunday’s show, parts two and three premiered on the debut edition of MSNBC’s MTP Daily and while the discussion on foreign policy included time on Libya, Todd neglected to even mention in his questioning the deadly 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi that has embroiled Clinton in scandal.

Wait a second: wasn't it just this month that Hillary's handlers announced they were going to have her show a warm 'n fuzzy side, with more "heart?" So who was the genius who coached Clinton to announce that as president she would "impose much harsher restrictions" on financial institutions under Dodd-Frank?
She'll "impose much harsher restrictions?" Brr! Isn't that the Stone Cold Hillary Clinton whose image was being re-engineered? Clinton made her "much harsher" comment in remarks aired on today's debut episode of MTP Daily in response to Chuck Todd's question as to where she differs from President Obama.
