MSNBC host and native Philadelphian Chris Matthews devoted less than a minute tonight to news of numerous federal indictments handed down today against Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-Pa.). The Hardball host prefaced the story by editorially commenting, "This is sad news."

Last night on Hardball, Chris Matthews hit the Republicans Party for having “this love affair with anger.” In a panel discussion on the 2016 Republican race for the nomination, the MSNBC personality explained that part of Donald Trump’s appeal is that the Republicans are “an angry party.” Matthews thought it unlikely that the party in its current state could nominate an establishment figure like Jeb Bush.

For MSNBC's Chris Matthews, his support of the president's Iran deal amounts to "simple math." The Hardball host reckons that bombing Iranian nuclear facilities would maybe buy the world three years, but a diplomatic accord with the Islamic Republic, heck, that gets you a whole decade!

Closing a segment on the July 23 program about Republican criticism of the nuclear deal that the Obama/Kerry State Department brokered with the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hardball host Chris Matthews wondered if 2016 presidential aspirant Marco Rubio's vocal criticism of the deal might in some way be "illegal."

For the second night in a row, MSNBC host Chris Matthews ignored the new Quinnipiac University poll showing Hillary Clinton trailing in key swing states to Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) as well as Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wis.) and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

After all these years, Chris Matthews still hasn't lost that lovin' feeling. The MSNBC host spent a total of two minutes and 12 seconds on Wednesday night hitting Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R) for a line comparing Donald Trump to Barack Obama. "Look how he's lived his life. He's done everything right," Matthews began, going on to explain how Obama is "perfect" and "immaculate."

For the second segment of his July 22 Hardball program, MSNBC's Chris Matthews took a brief break from his priority on Trump-bashing to effusively praise the latest GOP presidential primary entrant, Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio), whom he once dreamed on air of accepting a vice presidential nomination from Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Soon after President Barack Obama announced on Tuesday morning that the government of Iran signed a nuclear arms treaty with the United States and a coalition of allies, Richard Engel -- NBC's chief foreign correspondent – stated on MSNBC's Morning Joe program that the deal was “a gamble” for the U.S. that “very possibly” could lead to a new arms buildup in the Middle East.

Later that day, Engel told Chris Matthews, the host of the weeknight Hardball program, that people were filling the streets of Tehran -- the capital of Iran -- because “they see this as a real moment to celebrate, a moment of renewal, of hope when they could maybe improve their lives, their freedoms, their financial freedoms, their ability to live a decent life.”

During an appearance on Monday’s Hardball with Chris Matthews, former MSNBC host Ron Reagan Jr. argued that the 15 percent of GOP primary voters that would consider voting for Donald Trump “apparently warms to the idea of calling Mexican immigrants rapists.” The former MSNBC host played up the liberal line that Trump was “further damaging the Republican brand because he is a clown act here, and people will see that and yet, he’s attached to the Republican Party.”

MSNBC released two new "Lean Forward" ads last week, the latest examples of the network's echo chamber thinking. In the spots, Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow, respectively, cheered the Supreme Court's liberal decisions from the last term. The commercials brand the network as the official cheerleader of liberal causes. In one, Matthews lauded, "This is, let's joyously agree, a time of triumph. The Supreme Court has validated the President's Affordable Care Act...  and it's a time for equality of marriage for gay and lesbian people."

From distorting his voting record to calling the junior senator from Texas a latter-day McCarthy, MSNBC host Chris Matthews has made pretty clear his visceral disdain for Tea Party conservative and Republican presidential aspirant Ted Cruz. Tonight, however, Cruz entered into the lion's den itself, sitting down with Matthews for an interview on Hardball.
