On Wednesday's New Day, CNN's Chris Cuomo and Michaela Pereira marveled over the "huge step" and "unprecedented move" by People magazine in publishing a "call to action" on the issue of gun violence. The celebrity-centered publication printed the names and phone numbers of all 535 members of Congress, and called on "readers to contact their elected representatives to make their voices heard" on the subject. Pereira wondered, "Are we at a tipping point? Are we at a tipping point in the nation when so many of us are saying, not again – not again?!"

CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Friday repeatedly lectured an Oregon sheriff, demanding John Hanlin rethink his support for the Second Amendment in the wake of a shooting at a community college in his county. The New Day anchor grilled: “What do you think of what President Obama just said that we are fooling ourselves and we're not caring about each other if we continue to ignore the role of guns in these crimes?” Repeatedly, the Douglas County sheriff tried to focus on the victims and the investigation.

On Wednesday's New Day on CNN, co-anchor Alisyn Camerota repeatedly fretted over the possibility that cutting off federal funding of Planned Parenthood would make it difficult for women to get abortions. In one segment, she asserted that, in doing so, "obviously it does take away a woman's right to choose."

In a later segment, she suggested that defunding Planned Parenthood would lead women to have abortions "in a more desperate way," and, speaking to GOP Rep. Diane Black, demanded: "Is that what you want for American women?" As he plugged the first segment on the issue at 6:16 a.m., co-anchor Chris Cuomo tagged Planned Parenthood's activities as "lawful," as if this characterization were not in dispute: Cuomo:

On Wednesday's New Day, CNN's Chris Cuomo acted more like a pro-Planned Parenthood prosecutor than a journalist in his ten-minute-plus interview of David Daleiden. Cuomo repeatedly badgered Daleiden – who managed the undercover project that uncovered the abortion giant's sale of aborted babies' organs and tissues – over the summary videos of the footage his organization shot. He also touted how "Planned Parenthood – and other people who see [them] – says no; you doctored them. You're doctoring it to make it seem like what you want it to be."

While the Democrats running for their party's nomination for the 2016 presidential election are far fewer than those on the Republican side, the Cable News Network is doing its best to add another candidate to its two-hour prime-time debate: Vice President Joe Biden.

In fact, according to an article by Mark Preston -- executive editor for CNN Politics -- Biden will be invited to participate in the first Democratic presidential primary debate at 9 p.m. on October 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada, if he declares his intention to seek his party's nomination as late as the day of the debate.

CNN's Chris Cuomo painted a cynical picture of Dr. Ben Carson on Monday's New Day, as the newscast covered Jake Tapper's interview of the Republican presidential candidate from Sunday. Cuomo contended that Carson's recent stance against Muslims becoming president of the United States was a calculated move towards a supposedly extreme part of the GOP: "The problem is the candidate...seems to be pandering to a xenophobic religious minority in this country that's anti-Islam."

On Monday's New Day on CNN, anchor Chris Cuomo complained about Republicans wanting to defund Planned Parenthood as he questioned the "urgency" of doing so "before you investigate the allegations," leading guest and former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor to decry the "grotesque" revelations about the abortion provider.

During a discussion of House Speaker John Boehner's announced resignation and the impact it could have on whether there is a government shutdown as Republicans try to defund Planned Parenthood, Cuomo fretted:

The media have a knack of turning giving liberal activists a platform when it covers the Catholic Church. The latest example is CNN's Chris Cuomo turning to Episcopalian bishop/LGBT activist Gene Robinson moments after Pope Francis spoke at the White House on Wednesday. Cuomo noted that Robinson was part of "a number of people that were seen as controversial" among the invited guests at the presidential event, and tossed softballs at the liberal guest regarding his pet cause: "You are controversial, sir. Do you feel that way, and what do you think it is about?"

On Tuesday's New Day, CNN political commentator Errol Louis mocked GOP presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson for his reluctance to support electing a Muslim President as he suggested that Dr. Carson believes he is knowledgeable about Islam from simply having "read a book," or that he may have "scared himself late at night at some point."

CNN's Alisyn Camerota and Chris Cuomo pressed former Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer on Friday's New Day over his current refusal to endorse Hillary Clinton or any candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination. When Schweitzer pointed out that "Hillary Clinton has been in our living room, on our television now for the last 20 years," Camerota interjected, "But isn't that a good thing? Isn't that a sign of experience?"

MSNBC's Morning Joe and CNN's New Day both interviewed Carly Fiorina on Thursday after she did well at the Republican presidential debate. However, the two programs failed to bring up her dare to President Obama and Hillary Clinton to watch the hidden camera videos exposing Planned Parenthood's sale of unborn babies' organs and tissue. CNN's Alisyn Camerota and Chris Cuomo largely skirted the issues during their segment with Fiorina, with Cuomo asking about her lack of smiling during the debate.

Wednesday's New Day boosted Jimmy Fallon's anti-Dick Cheney crack from hours earlier on NBC's Tonight Show. Fallon spotlighted how Bernie Sanders was "concerned about what he called 'war talk' coming from the Republicans," and added, "Yeah, 'war talk' – or, as Dick Cheney calls it, 'phone sex.'" The CNN morning newscast included the line in a video round-up of late night shows' jabs at Republicans. Anchor Alisyn Camerota laughed at the compilation, and when asked which was her favorite, she replied, "I like the 'phone sex' one."
