CBS journalists over the weekend were thrilled at the possibility that Hillary Clinton might be John McCain's "favorite Democrat." Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer on Sunday talked to the Arizona senator and enthused, "Hillary Clinton has said that you are her favorite Republican and I just want to ask you is she your favorite Democrat?" [See video below. MP3 audio here.]

On Monday, CBS This Morning replayed the question and included a graphic that hyped, "favorite Democrat?" Guest co-host Jeff Glor spun McCain's answer to make it sound more flattering. He insisted, "But for a moment on Sunday Republican Senator John McCain put her in the White House."

CBS Face the Nation moderator Bob Schieffer attempted to create controversy within the Republican Party over the subject of immigration reform during a joint interview with Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Lindsay Graham (R-SC) on Sunday, July 6.

Schieffer lamented that an immigration bill hadn’t passed Congress and asked his Republican guests “how do you feel about being members of a body that won't act and a party on a crisis like this?” [See video below.]

Now online: the June 23 edition of Notable Quotables, MRC’s bi-weekly compilation of the latest outrageous quotes in the liberal media. This week, as Hillary Clinton embarks on a book tour, feminist journalists urge her to run for President. “If not you, who?” lobbied longtime NBC anchor Jane Pauley, now with CBS.

As for Hillary’s gaffes, such as claims she and her husband were “dead broke” when the couple left the White House in 2001, the supposed watchdogs in the press find them “refreshing” evidence that Hillary is “not as scripted” as she was eight years ago. Highlights are posted after the jump; the entire issue is posted online, with 20 quotes at www.MRC.org.

The other Sunday, Bob Schieffer, the longtime CBS journalist and anchor of the network’s Sunday morning show Face the Nation, had Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on his show.

Mysteriously, a seriously hard fact of the 1964 Barry Goldwater campaign -- a fact about the role of CBS News itself  -- disappeared from Mr. Schieffer’s recounting of that “historic landslide”  to Mr. Priebus and the CBS audience. Vaporized more thoroughly than Lois Lerner’s e-mails from the IRS. As noted here by Jeffrey Meyer, the two had the following exchange about the state of the Repubican Party:

CBS’s Bob Schieffer did his best to play up the supposed divide that exists within the Republican Party following the primary defeat of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA).

During an interview on Sunday, June 15 with Reince Priebus, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, the Face the Nation host wondered “Goldwater lost the [1964] election in a historic landslide. How do you prevent that from happening?” [See video below.]

Conservative columnist Peggy Noonan had some tough words for the Obama Administration following its decision to release five Taliban prisoners from Guantanamo Bay in exchange for Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl.

Appearing on CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday, June 8, Noonan argued “I would be sleeping better if I had a sense that the administration had a real plan as opposed to a desperate dumping.” [See video below.]

Former Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner appeared on CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday, May 18 to promote his new memoir Stress Test, yet host Bob Schieffer barely touched on the most controversial aspect, that the Obama Administration had directed him to spin negative aspects of Obama’s policies.

Schieffer briefly asked his guest “Did the administration ever try to get you to put a more positive spin on things than you thought the situation deserved?" After Geithner said he “never had that experience” the CBS host quickly moved on to an unrelated topic without challenging his contradictory claim. [See video below.]

Appearing as a guest on CBS’s Sunday program Face the Nation, liberal Georgetown University professor Michael Eric Dyson used the Donald Sterling controversy to make an unnecessary and disgusting swipe at Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI).

Dyson claimed “I see a relationship between what Paul Ryan says when he talks about inner-city people who are urban with all the code words being articulated and the kind of Cliven Bundy expression to the kind of Donald Sterling.” [See relevant transcript below.]

Former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) appeared on CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday, April 27 and was bombarded with a variety of liberal questions from host Bob Schieffer. Santorum was on CBS to promote his newest book “Blue Collar Conservatives” and was immediately met with a barrage of questions about gun control, specifically the new gun rights law in Georgia.

Schieffer fretted over the new law and asked the Republican “I want to ask you about this gun law that they just passed down in Georgia, which, as I understand it, allows people to take guns into airports. Do you think that`s a good idea, Senator?” [See video below.]

At this point it might take a dead body to get the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) networks to give the IRS-Tea Party scandal any sort of real coverage. Huge developments in the last week – like IRS official Lois Lerner receiving a criminal referral from the House Ways and Means Committee and e-mails proving she fed tax information on a targeted group to the staff of Rep. Elijah Cummings (D) – were completely censored by ABC and NBC news. Only a 90 second report on Thursday’s CBS This Morning kept last week’s revelations from being totally blacked out on the Big Three networks.

In the last seven days the following IRS scandal developments have emerged:

CBS Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer seems to have fallen for the liberal lie that women get paid 77 percent of what their male counterparts earn as was evident during an interview with Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).

Blackburn appeared with Schieffer on Sunday April 13 and was accused of being against equal pay: “Are Republicans against equal pay for women and is that going to be a good political issue in these coming midterm elections?” [See video below.]

Over the last seven days, three major revelations have emerged surrounding the IRS’ targeting of Tea Party groups. Despite the new stories, on Sunday April 13, three of the four Sunday shows,  NBC’s Meet the Press, CBS’s Face the Nation and ABC’s This Week, all ignored them, whereas Fox News Sunday was the only program to mention the IRS at all.

On Wednesday April 9, The Washington Times revealed that a Dallas IRS office was covered with Vote for Obama stickers and engaging in campaign cheerleading. On the same day, The Hill broke a story revealing that Lois Lerner fed tax information to Elijah Cummings (D-MD) who sits on the committee in charge of overseeing the IRS investigation. And finally, the House Ways and Means Committee voted last week to refer Lois Lerner for criminal charges, yet the big three didn’t mention any of these stories on Sunday.
