With the Vatican reportedly set to release a document soon which, among other things, holds that climate change is a manmade phenomenon, MSNBC host Chris Matthews devoted an entire segment which all but suggested that not only are conservative Republicans "science deniers," they're anti-Catholic.

But in the midst of all that, Matthews also found room to slam Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) as "Ayatollah-ish" for stating that it's arrogant to think man can change the Earth's climate and that God has somehow relinquished His control of the planet.

Jeffrey Tayler of The Atlantic treated religious belief as a mental illness in a Sunday column for the far-left website Salon, which targeted Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia for "imposing your obscurantist dogma on impressionable young minds" – specifically, "the bizarre Catholic cult." Tayler made no secret of his anti-Catholic bigotry when he slammed the supposed "pedophile pulpiteers of your creed [who] have...warp[ed] the minds of their credulous 'flocks' for two millennia."

As fury spreads, Evangelical leaders have joined a growing chorus that includes Catholic leaders, the Media Research Center (MRC), the Family Research Council (FRC), and the American Family Association (AFA) in a national campaign to pressure Disney ABC to cancel the sitcom pilot based on the life of anti-Christian bigot Dan Savage.

On Sunday, HBO's John Oliver gave the latest evidence that the last acceptable prejudice is bigotry against Christianity, especially anti-Catholicism. Oliver blasted the Vatican secretary of state's "defeat for humanity" condemnation of Ireland's vote that legalized same-sex marriage: "Okay, settle down a little, Catholic Church. Remember, you're an organization whose victories for humanity include the Crusades, forced adoptions, and running a widely-successful international pedophile exchange program."

Wrapping up a live interview with Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on Friday’s MSNBC Live, anchor Thomas Roberts invited the left-wing congressional leader to attack Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio: “...we have the sound from the interview that Marco Rubio gave, where he painted a pretty broad brush in a characterization about those for and against marriage equality. Take a listen.”

The New York Times' hypocrisy regarding displays of "offensive" religious imagery runs unabated, as shown in a Friday article on the sale of Chris Ofili's controversial painting "The Holy Virgin Mary," which shows the Virgin clotted with elephant dung  -- accompanied by a photograph of the painting, despite the paper's smug declaration after the Charlie Hebdo massacre that it would not reprint a cartoon of Muhammad because it did not "publish images...deliberately intended to offend religious sensibilities."

Social conservative-haters in the liberal media are sharpening their knives today as Rick Santorum is set to announce his 2016 presidential ambitions. From his arrival to the Senate in 1995 through his 2012 presidential run the media have attacked the former Pennsylvania Republican Senator as a “terrifying” “theocrat” who wants to impose a “Christian version of Sharia law.”

In a competition for Dumbest Headline Ever, we might consider the Daily Beast asking, “Can We Please Get God Out of Religion?” The subheadline was “We all need a spiritual side. But not because of some make-believe afterlife. Because it makes us better in this life.”

Barrett Holmes Pitner wrote this as one of those godless “millennials” now showing up in Pew Research polls about America becoming less Christian.

Patricia Miller ecstatically touted that the apparent "demographic free-fall" of the Catholic Church is "good news for the country" in a Thursday item for Salon. Miller bemoaned the American Catholic bishops' "outsize role in U.S. politics" in the past, given their opposition to abortion, contraception, and same-sex "marriage," and asserted that "with their flock fleeing and Pope Francis espousing a more conciliatory form of Catholicism less focused on the pelvic zone, the U.S. bishops don't look so powerful."

To MSNBC's Emma Margolin, it's "troubling" that former Florida governor Jeb Bush doesn't think there's a constitutional right for persons to enter into a same-sex marriage. But what's even more "troubling" to her is his defense of religious freedom claims when it comes to Christian business owners being asked to cater, plan, or photograph a same-sex wedding ceremony.

As we all know, MSNBC is painstakingly conscientious to avoid showing any depiction of Islam's Prophet Muhammad, out of a profession of cultural sensitivity and a desire to avoid needless offense to practicing Muslims. But when it comes to Christians who would object to taking the Lord's name in vain, well, that's a different story apparently. Witness the May 14 -- Ascension Day nonetheless! -- edition of All In with Chris Hayes.

Media Research Center President Brent Bozell joined Sean Hannity on his eponymous Fox News Channel (FNC) program Thursday evening and ripped ABC for deciding to air a sitcom this fall that’s loosely based on the life of anti-religious bigot Dan Savage. The segment began with Hannity providing a brief synopsis of the upcoming show (titled The O’Neals) and highlighting how “several high-profile Christian groups and leaders have called for ABC to immediately pull the plug on Savage's new show.”
