Facts don't matter when the media and gay activists believe they can find an issue that stirs controversy and advances their cause.

Two days ago I noted how Hardball host Chris Matthews slandered Catholic nuns in Indiana as bigots who want to deprive gay Americans of their rights. Tonight, the evening of Holy Thursday, Matthews was not as explicit or as strident in language, but he did hint that the nuns who appeared with Gov. Mike Pence at his signing ceremony for the Religious Freedom Restoration Act earlier this week were not there because they're champions of religious liberty.

A short unbylined Associated Press report at its national site on the situation at Memories Pizza in Walkerton, Indiana this afternoon made sure to mention that the pizzeria "won't cater gay weddings" (in the headline).
It also misstated the owner's statement to a South Bend TV station, claiming, using its own words, that she "said the state's new religious objections law backs their right to deny catering to a same-sex wedding." (Sorry, the statement that they wouldn't cater a same wedding was independent of any legal opinion.)

CNN's Gary Tuchman condescended towards Christian florists in rural Georgia on Wednesday's Anderson Cooper 360 over their religious-based stance against participating in homosexual "commitment ceremonies," as the state hasn't legalized same-sex "marriage" yet. Tuchman used the Bible as a club against two female employees: "The Bible talks an awful lot about love and loving your fellow man....You're not loving them if you don't want to serve them – right?"

Appearing on MSNBC’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell on Wednesday night, Nina Burleigh of Newsweek crudely joked that Republicans who defended Pence and Indiana’s Religious Freedom Act were experiencing “premature intolerance ejaculation.”

Something hasn't seemed right about the Memories Pizza story from the get-go. Now I know why.
In a Tuesday report, TV Station ABC 57 cited the Walkerton, Indiana business's Crystal O'Connor as saying that, in the station's words, they "don't agree with gay marriages and wouldn't cater them if asked to." In other words, they've never been asked to. The non-story which ignited a national firestorm is the result of a dangerously irresponsible ambush. The reporter involved admitted as much in a tweet late this morning:

On Wednesday, far-left actress Roseanne Barr launched more anti-conservative hate on Twitter – specifically targeting HotAir's Ed Morrissey for a Tuesday post where he wrote, "In matters of culture and taste, I usually bet on the side that doesn't include Roseanne." Barr immediately retorted by jabbing Morrissey for his open Catholicism (typos hers in this and all following excerpts): "as an arbiter of culture and taste-do u believe that Priests who molest kids should b arrested & tried?"

On Wednesday morning, the “Big Three” (ABC, CBS, and NBC) networks implemented a new tactic in its effort to smear Indiana’s religious freedom law by hyping a similar law that just made its way through the Arkansas legislature and its opposition from the CEO of Walmart.

The Hardball host made the charge today during the conclusion to a heated debate segment pitting Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy (D) against former RNC chairman Michael Steele on the issue of Indiana's brand-new Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

Screenwriter and actress Lena Dunham has managed to put herself back in the limelight amid a new controversy. Dunham finds herself in the news not because her show Girls had season premiere ratings that plummeted by 40 percent, or the questionable incidents from her book Not that Kind of Girl that included passages of molesting her sister or falsely accusing an innocent man of raping her. No. This time Dunham is being accused of anti-Semitism for a quiz she wrote, asking readers to choose which statement would refer to her dog…..or her Jewish boyfriend.
