No one should be surprised, but journalists -- you know, those fair, balanced and unbiased professionals -- give more of their political donations to Democrats than they do Republicans. Not by just a little, either. By a 15 to 1 margin.
Brit Hume has a small bit on his Political Grapevine about political donations and he mentions an IBD editorial on the money trail. The piece is by William Tate (a better version of Tate's piece is at Americanthinker.com) and it shows a whopping bias towards the Democrats in donations from our fourth estate (or is that fifth column?).
The New York Times' refusal to publish John McCain's rebuttal to Barack Obama's Iraq Op-Ed may be the most glaring example of liberal media bias this journalist has ever seen, but true proof of widespread media bias requires one to follow an old journalism maxim: Follow the money.
Of the journalists investigated, 235 gave more than $225,000 to Democrats while only 20 gave a mere $16,000 to Republicans. It was even more lopsided where it concerns the presidential candidates. People employed by major media organizations gave a 20 to 1 majority of donations to Barack Obama.
Of course, the fact that the media gives their support to the left is unsurprising, but it does call into question their ability to be the unbiased professionals they claim to be.
One is the overwhelming nature of the above statistics. Given the pack mentality among journalists and, just like any pack, the tendency to follow the leader -- in this case, Big Media -- and since Big Media is centered in some of the bluest of blue parts of the country, it is highly likely that the media elite reflects the same, or an even greater, liberal bias.
Well, we of course get it here on the blog. But it is quite interesting to see all the evidence of the money trail that Tate takes the time to track down. Kudos to Mr. Tate. Go on over to Americanthinker.com and read the whole thing.

It's a Free Country, the Media is free to give/vote for who ever they want to.......CLICK....once informed, the American Public is Free to watch whatever Channel they desire.
They give $$$ to Obama, they Follow him wherever he goes....and "Not a discouraging word" is ever recorded. This is NOT Journalism, it's not Reporting, this is an Exit interview after a Worship service....This is the SIN of Omission (NYT)...This is the First VICTORY for the United States Military in War time that has gone UN-Reported by the "Former MSM".
Bush has given them enough Rope, they should Hang themselves in Honor of Tony Snow.

There is nothing at all
July 27, 2008 - 00:49 ET by Captain RepusThere is nothing at all wrong with journalists contributing to Obammy at a rate of 20-1. It is their job to guide the ignorant masses. With Obammy having a lock on 95% of the media, 92% of the blacks, 100% of the gays, 85% of the liberally indoctrinated college crowd and 95% of the sophisticated Europeans it would be a tragedy for us to accidentally elect an American hero and patriot over someone who can free the world of American tyrany, unilaterally disarm our nation, heal the ailing illegals and get those capitalist pigs to share their wealth with the non-productive among us.
A Graph's Worth a Thousand Words
July 27, 2008 - 08:57 ET by gordonEvery time their fawning coverage of Obabble is mentioned, the response from the media is, "He's making news and we gotta cover the news!". They love that argument because its impossible to refute. Well, this graph is also impossible to refute. I'm waiting for Howard Kurtz to bring this up on the screen and ask how, in any conceivable way, would it be possible for a news organization to be considered unbiased if all their reporters gave their personal contributions to only one side? Only Time and Fox have any possibility of a defense. Everyone else is in the kool-aid tank.
I say that a lot, too
July 27, 2008 - 09:01 ET by sarcasmoBut about this graph. And did anyone note the media contributions for Libertarians or other non "major" parties? Lookin' like a big $0.00 to me...

This just goes to show
July 27, 2008 - 09:19 ET by ConservativeRexThis just goes to show the complete hypocrisy of the MSM and their leftward tilt. This is no secret, it's been known for decades.
What is not being reported on is big business donations in this country. Democrats are always railing about how evil big business is, until you look at the individual donations from big business to senators and congressmen. In nearly every case the giving from big business is 50/50 Republican/democrat. Businesses can not afford to alienate any sector that may vote against the best wishes of their particular business. They never know who is going to be in power and for how long. So for democrats to complain about large corporations gives you a sense of what kind of knuckleheads we're dealing with in this country. Democrats love jobs, they hate the employers.
When you reach into your Pocket, & give $$'s, its a committment
July 27, 2008 - 13:08 ET by JayTeeThe Rare act of giving $$s to a Political Campaign, you are making a personal committment. And if you GIVE of yourself, your personal time, or share Emotions crawling up your Leg, you are pushing your own Agenda....not sharing "News".
While I can be a Conservative and have a Job, I dare not bring that Political view (left or right) to the forefront of doing my Real job. My Real job is NOT to make my personal Politics saturate my workplace Environment. An Occaisional comment at lunch, or in the Halls, elevators, breakrooms, will be harmless and conversational.
Thus it should be with the Media workplace.
Americans do NOT have this separation of Personal Politics in the Media. With this article/Graph it is now backed up and surrounded by Statistics that prove a point that has long been obvious to the most Casual Observer of the Media.
Like the Price of Gasoline, Americans want this FIXED.

You seem to be implying
July 28, 2008 - 12:46 ET by KarmaYou seem to be implying that the reporters referred to in this article are "whores"?
Are you saying that, unlike the Republicans who stiffed them in more ways than one by your description, the Democrats are paying them for their "services"?
Set me straight if I misunderstood you.
