The founding fathers of this country were racist because there were no blacks or browns in the signing of the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution.  We need to go back in time and appoint some blacks in history, including WWII.

I watched an old movie the other day called Zulu (1964). I was appalled that there was not one single caucasian Zulu warrior in the entire film. The director was obviously racist.

Spike Lee has not made a good movie since when...oh that's right, he never made a good movie. A flavor of the month is trying to be important by ripping a true actor and artist to get his name back in the news. Spike Lee needs to go back to whatever he has been doing for the past decade and let the big dogs be.

PS- Is NB the only place that really cares about its readers and 'stays open' on the weekends? This plays always has tons of new content on sat and sun while everybody else could care less -- espec. drudge which is stale for 48 hours a week, sometimes longer.

Speaking of Drudge & content, he has finally removed Rosie O'Donnell from his blog roster for her lazy updating habits. Now Rosie can see exactly what she has taken for granted this whole time -- a built in audience.

Spike harped on "Hoosiers" as a movie where the hero white kids beat the mean, oppressive black kids. He failed to understand that, in the original basketball game, this was... actually the case.

By the way, WTH, I didn't know Spike Lee had freckles...? 

You people at Newsbusters just don't get it.  Spike Lee never appears racist, and doesn't have any racist themes in his movie, and never uses any actors that have racist thoughts.  He also never stereotypes any white people either.

From what I've read, "Sands of Iwo Jima" is a revisionist work that suggests moral equivalency between the United States and Japan during World War II.  In Hollywood's eyes, we are down to the European Theater during WWII being the only good thing the US Military has ever done.

i don't really think Lee needs to be calling people racist; he's well-known for telling white fans to f--- off if they ask for an autograph or tell him they like his work.

Bow wow, I mean Spike is just envious of Clint's success is all. Clint is right on target with Spike's history lesson. Hey Spike, didn't all those schools you went to teach you any history?That college education doesn't mean a thing, right? Ever hear of the Jackie Robinson Story, surely you heard of that movie in NY Film School of Arts, or black history at Morehouse College? Let me guess you were sleeping in class.

Comparing Clint to Shelton is like comparing an elephant to a mouse. I don't think Spike has ever made the 100 mil. movie mark at the box office. A Clint movie is money in the bank, and Hollywood knows it. Clint has plenty of hit movies to his credit, and a shelf full of awards. What does Spike have?, an Emmy, oh boy, a shoebox full. Spike demands the awards be given to him like Kenye West, doesn't want to earn them by creating a good movie, like "Million Dollar Baby." I watched for the first time last weekend, great movie. Clint Eastwwod might not be a great actor, going on 78 yoa, but, he sure knows how to direct and produce a good blockbuster movie, unlike Mr. Lowbrow Spike dog.

Spike is as good a director as he is an actor. I personally cannot name one film I would place in my DVD collection, not a one. Spike has about as much business making a movie a Jethro Bodine. This guy absolutely stinks at acting/directing/producing/writing movies. I wouldn't take one of his movies if you gave it to me free of charge. I wouldn't use it for a doorstop/gun practice at a skeet shoot.

Most of Spike's movies have bigoted/racist content, context, and undertones. "White Men Can't Jump", "Bamboozled", "Malcolm X", "40 Acres and a Mule" production company, come on. I could go on and on with this guy. Spike was all over Senator Lott, insinuating he had ties with the KKK, nothing about Senator Byrd.

People like Spike, Kenye West, Ice-T, Flavor Flav, always talking trash about all American patriots like Clint Eastwood, Elvis Presley, John Wayne. I say the heck with these idiots, you don't mean nothing to me. 50 years from now, millions of people will still know the names of Clint, Elvis, and the Duke. Unlike Spike, T, Flav, Kenye.

Ask yourself this question. Have you ever heard Clint say something bigoted/controversial/racist about anyone? Now ask yourself the same question about Spike and friends. Opie, let Clint use the names "Buckwheat or "Stymie" in one of his flicks, and see what happens. "White Men Can't Jump." How about if a white man names his movie title say, Black Men Can't Swim or Black Men Can't Drive, (NASCAR) all hell would break out, and people know it. And no, I am not white.

As you can probably tell by my rant thus far, I can't stand this dog. Spike Lee is a real/true definition of a racist, with a Big chip on his shoulder. Behold, a beam in your own eye Shelton. I could rant all day about this bigoted/racist, ferret face/weasel looking rat.

Not to mention the fact Clint would just kick Spike Lee's A$$, and say something totally cool afterwards like:

" To hell with them fellas. Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms."

 "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious. "

Clint has one on me.  I did not think that a single black fought on Iwo Jima.  The munitions battalion was one I did not think of.  They probably did not engage in any combat, but their ammo delivery service was as valuable to the success of the assault as anyone else's contributions on the Island.

Spike Lee is a colossal ignoramus.

So, it's racist that there were very few blacks at Iwo and most other front-line campaigns, but too many blacks in Vietnam? I hope Spike will let us know what is just right. 

Clint is definitely the smarter and more patriotic of the two, with those other 'great' films such as Firefox and Heartbreak Ridge. lol

But, you have to LOVE Kelly's Heroes! 

Another reason to admire Clint Eastwood. Of course people like Spike Lee and the left in general never let facts stand in the way of complaining.

Spielberg was likewise criticized for the lack of black representation in Saving Private Ryan.  That and other instances in which demands are made to essentially fictionalize history for the sake of political correctness and racial sensitivity are tiresome and absurd.

As BD pointed out, however, there were a significant number of blacks on Iwo, albeit in a segregated munitions unit.  But, each and every Marine on that island was in harm's way, and I believe that at least a few blacks would have been directly engaged in combat.  [That is my opinion...I haven't researched the issue.]  As such, if Eastwood could have--even very briefly--depicted this [while maintaining historical and plot integrity], it probably would have been wise--if for no other reason than to avoid this type of controversy.  However, it should never be done simply to placate racial card sharks like Spike Lee.
