Holiday Reruns: Here Comes Rush-Bashing Again on 'Barack the Magic Negro'

Here's the latest from the Thou Shalt Not Mock Barack Department: Brian Maloney at Radio Equalizer reports that the media is going after Rush Limbaugh again now that he’s on vacation. Chip Saltsman, a former Huckabee strategist seeking to win the race for chairman of the Republican National Committee, is being condemned for sending to GOP leaders a CD with the "Barack the Magic Negro" parody, an old mockery of Al Sharpton’s anger at Obama’s popularity:

Here, the distribution of a Limbaugh parody song recorded by Paul Shanklin in 2007 has landed a little-known, dark-horse GOP chairmanship candidate in "hot water", at least as the left would have us believe. But we've been down this road before: when the spoof was created in May of last year, even Obama himself brushed it off. Suddenly, however, now that it can provide political ammo, it has been resurrected.

When the Clinton-funded and appointed media watchdogs cried foul over this song in May of 2007, NBC's attack on Rush for racism won our year-end "Drive-By Media Award for Shooting at the Competition."

The "magic negro" term was put in political play by black film critic David Ehrenstein in the Los Angeles Times on March 19, 2007, who said sociologists used the term to deride the white "desire for a noble, healing Negro," often found in the movies as a mysterious figure to help out the white star of the film. Ehrenstein suggested Obama was the beneficiary of whites looking for their noble hero of a different color:

Obama's fame right now has little to do with his political record or what he's written in his two (count 'em) books, or even what he's actually said in those stem-winders. It's the way he's said it that counts the most. It's his manner, which, as presidential hopeful Sen. Joe Biden ham-fistedly reminded us, is "articulate." His tone is always genial, his voice warm and unthreatening, and he hasn't called his opponents names (despite being baited by the media).

Like a comic-book superhero, Obama is there to help, out of the sheer goodness of a heart we need not know or understand. For as with all Magic Negroes, the less real he seems, the more desirable he becomes. If he were real, white America couldn't project all its fantasies of curative black benevolence on him.

Maloney complained that a Fox News online report highlighting official condemnation from top Republicans showed "the Republican Party is more interested in launching into an apology tour rather than explain why the parody was created for Limbaugh's show in 2007. Their reaction underscores the toothless nature of today's GOP."

He also notes that former Ohio attorney general Ken Blackwell, one of two black contenders for the RNC chairman post, told Politico that some were being too sensitive to notions of political correctness:

"Unfortunately, there is hypersensitivity in the press regarding matters of race. This is in large measure due to President-Elect Obama being the first African-American elected president," said Blackwell, who would be the first black RNC chairman, in a statement forwarded to Politico by an aide. "I don't think any of the concerns that have been expressed in the media about any of the other candidates for RNC chairman should disqualify them. When looked at in the proper context, these concerns are minimal. All of my competitors for this leadership post are fine people."

Rush

A black film critic uses the phrase "magic negro", Rush picks up the ball and runs with it only to get under the leftists skin and they attack Rush. They dont even have the guts to attack him when he is on the air. They wait until he is on vacation. Cant wait for Rush to come back and let these loons have it.

Sensitivity

Rush's parodies have been going on for years, including quite a few about Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, none of which raised an eyebrow. The Magic Negro parody is of the same type, so I can't help but wonder why Obama's parody is offensive where Sharpton's isn't. For one thing, the Magic Negro is actually more a parody of Al Sharpton - it says almost nothing about Obama. To be clear, I deny that any of them are offensive, but even if the Magic Negro one was, it's certainly no worse than the previous ones against Sharpton. So, why the uproar now?

I argue that this is more evidence that Obama doesn't represent the black community. He represents the white radical liberals who crave atonement at all costs. The uproar is coming from these liberals, pretending to speak for blacks, inserting their racial sensitivity as substitutes for blacks. When the parodies were focused on the former black establishment, the white liberals said nothing.

Like The MSM Pot Calling The Kettle Black.

The following is part of an article featured on the National Black Republican Association (NBRA) website shown the horrible depiction of black Republicans by those in the MSM. So why do they feel they own the moral high ground when it comes to racial sesitivity?

"Simple Sambo" and "Ignorant Mammy"": That's how Democrats view Blacks

By Frances Rice

Democrats, who claim that they care about diversity, use despicable racial stereotypes, just as Democrats did during the days of slavery and Jim Crow, to slur black professionals, such as Dr. Condoleezza Rice and Maryland Lt. Governor Michael Steele.

Oreo cookies were thrown by Democrats at Mr. Steele, and two members of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Katie Barge and Lauren Weiner, committed identity theft, illegally obtaining Mr. Steele's Social Security number and credit report.
Brazenly, on the left-wing Internet website called "The News Blog," Democrats posted a doctored photograph of Mr. Steele, depicting him as a "Simple Sambo."   This contemptible racist stereotype is the same one that Democrats used to demean blacks during the era of slavery and segregation.

In addition to other outrageous racist images produced by several Democrats, cartoonist Jeff Danziger depicted Dr. Rice as an ignorant, barefoot "mammy," reminiscent of the stereotyped black woman in the movie Gone with the Wind who remarked:  "I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' no babies."

Democrats feel free to display such blatant racism because they know that they can take the black vote for granted.  Black Americans need to wake up, think for themselves and get off of the Democratic Party's plantation.  The National Black Republican Association is dedicated to exposing the failed socialist policies and racist past of the Democratic Party that has hijacked the civil rights record of the Republican Party.

See the article "Simple Sambo" and "Ignorant Mammy": That's how Democrats view Blacks

Yes, remember that Colin

Yes, remember that Colin Powell and Condi Rice were "House Negros" and they were sellouts. Until CP supported O, and trashed the Republicans, he was hated. Now he is great. Go figure.

Looks like the MSM is

Looks like the MSM is trying to pick our RNC Chair, just like they pick our candidate for president.

hunter -- but do you

hunter -- but do you seriously want this uninspiring dolt to become chairman of the RNC? This is an example of his judgment?

So conservatives will be explaining for the next 4 years to people (who aren't political junkies) that it's all a Rush Limbuagh parody of a Democrat newspaper article?

Isn't lfe just to damn short for that?

If you can meet with triumph and disaster

but do you seriously want this uninspiring dolt to become chairman of the RNC? This is an example of his judgment?

I want someone who will call the MSM idiots like they are and elect conservatives not RINO's.  And we will still be explaining ideas and positions to the democrat dolts from now til Jesus takes us home and they still wont understnad they are resposible for teh peopel they elect.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

I've been keeping up with

I've been keeping up with this all regarding Saltsman and this BS with Rush, I am really hoping Saltsman wins...we need more like him, like Blackwell says...this false over-sensitivity is getting rather old.

The msm/politicos hate Rush, it's never-ending.

Here is a pretty good article regarding the RNC and the battles that are going on inside.

Btw...I love the picture above! It is about time we had a little humor here when it has to do with the opposition, we sure saw enough regarding Bush and his cabinet, which was A-OK with the msm.

Magic Negro

For all citizens of the U.S.A. be informed that to call a Black American a "negro" is an insult. After 400 years of killing, maiming, abusing, robbing and otherwise mistreating African Americans you want to call the first one elected president an insulting name and now you ask, "What's the big deal?".

You can't be as misinformed or foolish as you sound therefore you must be dishonest in your discourse. Try to be honest from within.

The Republican party was founded with it's principal objective being to stop the expansion of slavery. Now republicans seem to make every effort to ensure that African Americans and other people of color stay as far away from the party as possible. I am having a difficult time comprehending the political strategy. Are there 50 million new white racist voters hiding somewhere? Just who is the target audience?

PC

PC, not racism, is now killing our nation. To continue to bow to it will lead to our demise. NEGRO,NEGRO,NEGRO. There,---it's called FREE SPEECH! Check the U.S. Constitution. No one can tell me, an American citizen, what to say, whom to love, or even whom to hate. Go blow!

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

Afternoon isia... PC, not

Afternoon isia...

PC, not racism, is now killing our nation. To continue to bow to it will lead to our demise.

You hit the nail right on the head...as long as the bowing/arse kissin' continues, the conservatives had better be prepared to keep losing any political strength.

Simple as that.

Have you even read the info sheet on this, Gustav?

The whole point is not that Republicans are calling him that but the lame stream media is.  The term was used by a "black" writer for the L.A. Times - The song builds upon David Ehrenstein's assertion in the Los Angeles Times that BARRKY would serve as a "magical negro" to assuage white guilt.  It is actually more of a parody of Al Sharpton Jr. than anything else.  My main dislike of BARRKY is not his skin color but that he has BIG EARS and is an ILLEGAL ALIEN/FAUX-PREZ.

gustav

I suppose calling African-Americans 'colored people' is o-k, just ask the NAACP.

BTW, you may also have a problem with the United NEGRO College Fund.

Give 'em a call and give 'em hell.

Yawwwwn.

its ONLY racist

when a Conservative uses it as evidenced by this "liberally" acclaimed "masterpiece" ...

CAUTION NSFW or around little ears ...

while of course THIS is totally NOT RACIST at all ....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPDXf36_774&feature=related

pay particular attention to the ending lyrics IF you can stomach your way thru it ..

Enough of tone-deaf, dumbass Rep so-called LEADERS

Personally I think it's a tone-deaf, crass, and IDIOTIC idea for a man who wants to be Chairman of the RNC to be using this in any circumstances. Grow up, you DUMB blind jerk. Seriously, words almost fail me.

Especially as two of his opponents are African-Americans, black, persons of color, or howEver they describe themselves.

Does the RNC really need a guy who doesn't UNDERSTAND that this is exactly how people like Gustav here will misinterpret this?

Isn't it hard enough for CONSERVATIVES to always be on the defensive? Didn't we have enough of this childish ineptitude from the McCain campaign.

However BUT ENOUGH OF YOUR BASIC IGNORANCE ON THE SUBJECT TOO, gustav

Republicans" did NOT go around calling the President-elect a "negro."

That would be a BLACK DEMOCRAT journalist who did that. Sheesh. WE have covered this topic only like a dozen times, at least.

If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same...
Yours is the earth and all that's in it...

Its called a parody, and......

there are 40 other songs on the album. I myself would have loved to have gotten the album as a gift. The demos again show who they are fearful of in power.

http://www.paulshank...

old -- yes I know it's a

old -- yes I know it's a parody of a Democrat! I've got NO problem myself with the song.

I've heard most of them on Rush, and I thought the song was perfectly apt when it first came out. Dancing Queen is hilarious (if that's on)

What drives me nuts is that we have a guy who aspires to national leadership in the RNC. And it dodn't seem to CROSS HIS MIND  that this would be used against him, republicans and conservatives.

I am not even remotely intersted in the "fairness" of this -- that's not the point.

Do you really want to spend the next four years defending the next poor choice, or the one after that? Because believe me, if this is any way representative that's what we will be doing.

Doesn't that get wearisome and deflect from what conservatives should be doing to oppose Obama and the socialistocrat Congress?

If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same...

names

Negro is a descriptive word that did not used to be an insult.  In fact, I encourage you to look it up in the dictionary.  To be quite frank, I really don't like to be called "White",
"Four-Eyes", "Fat", "Old", "Poor White Trash",  or "Honkey" or some of
the other even worse names I have been called, some of which were tossed at me by "African Americans" (I dislike this term as we should all be americans, not hyphenated americans).  Does that mean I can
cry racist or prejudice too because I am called a name that at one time was not considered insulting?!

Well, the left would tell

Well, the left would tell you that you aren't a member of a "disadvanted minority," so you have no claim to racism.  They'll also tell you that it is impossible for black people to be racists for this same reason.

The left really is a piece of work.

Magic Mulatto, actually

Offspring of one black, and one white parents. BO is not negro.

And you, sir,...

... have not clue as to the origin of this parody.  I might be mistaken, but I believe nearly every word of this parody was taken from articles written by liberals.  Not conservatives.

If you have anger, direct appropriately; towards liberalism!

The target audience is truth seekers!!

Magic Negro

An insult is an insult once it is percieved as such. Perception is reality. I reword my previous question: What is the objective, political or otherwise, of the insult? This song was distributed by someone aspiring to lead the Republican Party. I think that political parties seek to achieve thier goals through political victory. How does this idiotic act help the Republican Party?

How does this idiotic act

How does this idiotic act help the Republican Party?

It really doesnt hurt teh party as teh GOP was not teh originator.  It is only a "problem" because teh MSM thinks it is.  Is your thinking controlled by others?  Besides not all things have an objective, lighten up.  The MSM and teh democrat cohorts will always find something like Palin or whatever.  They will always cover for any wrong or percieved wrong.

So why should we care?

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

funny how the same people who get all offended...

..when Rush makes fun of anything Obama are the same people who call him "fat" "drug addict" etc etc as soon as his name comes up in any context.

This song parody is a year and half old and NOW it's suddenly a "problem"? That's the MSM for ya!

Jnoble... Exactly

Jnoble...

Exactly right.

I just heard where BOR is going to get to the subject later in this hour, of course it has to do with the repub party and I'm quite sure he will be putting down Saltsman.

I can already hear it.

"America isn't the problem...America is the solution." ~ Rush Limbaugh

Why can't African-Americans be 'Americans'

Barack Obama's Mentor,  Jeremiah Wright's Black Value System keeps the racial divide fired up.

"We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community."

Why does something this old...

...still matter!

This has been asked and ansered many times by Rush.

If I remember corectly, nearly all of the lyrics were takend from the words of LIBERAL "journalists."

As the Eagles said, "get over it.!"

The Black man who wrote

"Barack The Magic Negro" for the LA Times is where this funny parody started.

If I could vote, I'd Vote for Mr Blackwell for RNC chair.

He understands the problem Republicans have with Rinos everywhere. And he is a conservative.

I am sick of the double standard and will never be silenced.

People are asking in poll questions, "Are you hoping Obama succeeds as President?"

My answer is NO. If he does, we will be a Marxist Nation with NO Constitution and I do not want to live in the United States as HE aka The ONE, envisions.

Hey Delsa... I agree with

Hey Delsa...

I agree with you...

I also like Ken Blackwell too...a lot.

Him standing up for Saltsman is what we need more of, not less...no matter all the speculation, he stood up for him, I would too.
