The call to arms is emotional: ‘We need a President who will stand up to Big Oil!’
The impact is nationwide: ‘National Day of Action for an Oil Free President… At gas stations across the country…’
The movement is massive: ‘American people need an Oil-Free President!’
And the Albany Times Union took a photo-op to demonstrate the fury of the numerous protestors – all 7 of them.
Making the photo even more priceless is the second gentleman from the left, who had to hold up two signs at once, because an 8th protestor was not available.
Now, I had a good 10-12 people at a cookout last weekend, and a majority of them were protesting my overcooking of their burgers. Worse, I was probably wasting untold amounts of gas by serving well-done burgers to the guests - a costly mistake. Yet the Times Union was nowhere to be found.
At what point did it become newsworthy when 7 people gathered for a nationwide protest? You know the answer… When it promotes a liberal cause.

They were making all kinds of noise demanding that there be no sanctions against Iran (Ackerman is sposoring a bill with Pence of Indiana) and kept up the noise for 45 minutes until Ackerman came out to talk to them.
Someone needs to research the Code Pinkos to find out who they really are and what, if anything, they do for a living and/or who they are funded by.

Years ago, NOW was protesting in front of the White House defending the then-president Clinton. I was an eyeball witness. There were maybe a dozen of them. I saw TV cameras there, and they were right up to the protesters, who bunched up closely together. Initially, I didn't know why they were doing this.
But when I saw it on TV, it struck me. They did this to make it look like a lot more people were there, since the tight shot was full of people. If they simply pulled the shot back, it would've looked ridiculous. But the TV cameramen simply kept the shot tight during the whole piece.
I saw this happen with my own eyes.

You should check out their blogs pages at http://blogs.timesunion.com/ , especially the Read & React area. Any conservative post or post bashing a lefty will be deleted faster than you can spit. The TU's local coverage is always slanted towards treehuggers, gays, and police bashing. There will be a local death in Irag and the story will have three paragraphs about the dead soldier and another 20 paragraphs about Code Pink's effort to end the war. I'm glad to see a national wbe site such as Newsbusters expose the Marxist TU for what they are.

Who is responsible for
July 10, 2008 - 15:59 ET by weirdoneWho is responsible for high energy prices? The blame can be laid at the feet of Congress; mostly the Democrats in Congress beholden to the environmental lobby, although the Republicans share the blame because while they controlled both houses of Congress and the Presidency they did nothing to alleviate the problem. Congress has put every viable source of affordable energy out of reach by government policy and mandated that we burn the food supply instead. They have been the problem not the solution. No nuclear power, no new refineries since the 70’s, no new coal fired plants, no new economically viable energy production period. No drilling in ANWAR, no drilling on the Rocky Mountain Front, no drilling in the eastern Gulf, no drilling on 85% of off shore US even though the proven reserves are there and Viet Nam and Cuba are currently drilling with in a stones throw of Miami. The current vilification of Big Oil and a call for Win Fall Profits taxes are insanity. The profit of the 5 major oil companies according to the latest information I can find on line was 8.3% in 2006 that is less than the 10% average of all US corporations. The Oil companies who have hundreds of billions of dollars invested are not the problem, government regulation is. The federal tax on Gasoline is 16.5% and the state tax in Montana is 24.5%, no doubt they are higher elsewhere. I don’t hear anyone talking about their Win Fall Profits and they have invested not one cent. According to the Energy Information Administration, solar energy is subsidized to the tune of $24.34 per megawatt hour and wind energy by $23.37. Wind and solar, despite all their subsidies, contribute less than 1% of our total electricity generation. In stead of supporting development of more efficient nuclear energy, we are converting generation facilities from coal to natural gas instead of liquefying both for motor fuel. Because of government neglect and regulation, alternatives are year’s away form meeting our needs. The world runs on oil and will for the foreseeable future whether we like it or not. Without a reliable energy supply economic disaster awaits us. It is, in my opinion, time for a house cleaning. When I go to the poles in the next election all I need to know is who the incumbent is so I can vote for the other candidate. Won’t you join me?

Sort of on topic.... I talked to a guy in the waiting room today at my wifes doctors office. He told me how his very successful Brother (lives in California) had taken a Honda Civic and spent a fortune having it totally revamped to run completely on battery power. He was going to start building these cars for the public, but he ran into a slight problem...His wife totalled the car after only 8 weeks of driving it. He got billed for the cleanup of the battery acid and the cost exceeded the cost of his wifes hospital bill. He had to pay almost $12,000 dollars for the clean-up, removal, and disposal of the battery and it's contents.

Albany Perspective
July 10, 2008 - 22:02 ET by SquonkamaticI did my graduate work at SUNY there over 3 wonderful years (that actually looks like the Mobile station at the corner of Lark St. and Washington Ave, right around the corner from my old apartment on Willet St.) and can vouch for the importance of this story for the region: Seven people in Albany who are not related doing anything together on a Saturday afternoon that doesn't involve public intoxication is actually quite a remarkable thing. Though that guy on the far left looks like he'd already been to the Palais Royale just down the block on Jefferson St. for a couple. What a place!

I can't believe the ignorance.
July 10, 2008 - 22:12 ET by pbthinkerIt should be clear, to anyone looking at our country right now, just how much our economy is based on oil. I believe President Bush's comment that, "We're addicted to oil." wasn't quite accurate. There's a difference between addiction and dependence. We depend on oxygen for life, not addicted to it. We can't wean ourselves off of oxygen, but we can wean ourselves off of oil, but it's going to be a difficult process.
I'm not sure what the figures are, but take your local power plant, run on oil, gas, or coal, and look at the amount of land it takes up. Now, think about how many windmills it's going to take, and the land it will use up, to give the equivalent amount of electricity.
They talk about cars running on nitrogen, in the near future. How many people know they plan on getting the nitrogen from natural gas? (Another product congress won't let us drill for.)
Someone talked about running cars on LP gas. I asked if he knew what LP meant and he pleaded ignorance. When I told him it was Liquified Petroleum Gas, he began to understand why the Democrats are so wrong about our energy policy.
I can't believe that no network will call the Democrats on their energy stance. Instead, we have the sheep giving the Democrats every opportunity to put out their story with no negative comments or questions from the media.. How, in hell, are the people going to be educated about the problems facing us, with the media we have?

No one on this planet is really too stupid to know 'who' caused the rapid increase in oil prices, are they?
