Just how afraid of Glenn Beck are Barack Obama and Company?
So afraid they've actually started blogging about him to refute statements made on his program by either himself OR his guests.
Somewhat humorously, the offending guest on this occason was a senior advisor to former President Jimmy Carter.
Without further ado, the following was posted Wednesday by Jesse Lee, Obama's Online Programs Director:
Last night Fox News continued its disregard for the facts in an attempt to smear the Administration's efforts to win the Olympics for the United States. In the past, hosting the Olympics has been a source of pride and unity for the country, but once again Fox News' Glenn Beck program has shown that nothing is worthy of respect if it can be used as part of a partisan attack to boost ratings.
Isn't that nice? Unemployment is approaching double digits, the war in Afghanistan is going poorly, and our President is worried about what's being said about him on Fox News!
Regardless, let's look at some of the carping and whining:
RHETORIC: BECK SAID VANCOUVER LOST $1 BILLION WHEN IT "HAD THE OLYMPICS." Glenn Beck said, "Vancouver lost, how much was it? they lost a billion dollars when they had the Olympics." [Transcript, Glenn Beck Show, 9/29/09]REALITY: VANCOUVER'S OLYMPICS WILL NOT TAKE PLACE UNTIL 2010. Vancouver will host the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games from February 12 – 28, 2010 and March 12-21, 2010, respectively. [Vancouver2010.com, accessed 9/29/09]
The City of Vancouver's liabilities to construction of the 2010 Olympic Athletes Village may cost it its favourable credit rating with Standard & Poor's, the rating agency said today.
Standard & Poor's, in a statement, said it has placed Vancouver's AA+ rating on creditwatch in light of revelations that the city may need to step in and finance the Olympic village's remaining construction.
"Depending on the scope of the city's financial obligation, we believe Vancouver's potential debt burden might not be consistent with the AA+ rating," Steven Ogilvie, director of public-finance ratings for Standard & Poor's office in Toronto, said in the statement.
In the statement, Ogilvie said the agency's concern is that without financing from the Olympic village project's main lender, Fortress Investment Group, Vancouver could be on the hook for up to $850 million and may have to borrow a large part of that to shore up the project's finance.
Fortress stopped advancing funds to the project in September in part because of cost overruns.
Closer to home, the New York Times reported last November:
When Montreal announced that it would be the host of the 1976 Summer Olympics, Mayor Jean Drapeau promised that the Games could “no more have a deficit than a man can have a baby.” Ultimately the Games left behind about $1.5 billion in unexpected debt that was paid off only two years ago.
Now, Vancouver residents prepare to vote in a municipal election on Saturday, the freeze in credit markets and a collapse of the city’s real estate market have made the financing of the 2010 Winter Games a critical issue.
Looming over the debate are the fortunes of the Fortress Investment Group, the hedge fund and private equity firm that controls the main Olympic skiing site, Whistler Blackcomb, and is the primary source of financing for a $1 billion athletes’ village now under construction downtown. On Thursday, Fortress reported a third-quarter loss of $20 million, in contrast to earnings of $111 million in the period a year earlier.
As such, Vancouver is indeed having serious financial issues in preparation for its upcoming Olympics, a reality Lee chose not to check.
As for his other concerns, they were all dealing with what was said by Beck's guest Pat Caddell. Maybe the White House should address this matter directly with the former senior advisor to President Carter.
On the other hand, it would be more interesting to see Lee fact-check MSNBCers and their guests.
Now THAT would be entertainment!
Stay tuned.

With inflation about to go through the roof, with the dollar getting weaker, with Iran ready to build nuclear bombs....The White House, the Obama administration feels that responding to Beck about the Olympics is important?! wow!!! For the Beck-Haters to jump on a rhetorical error as a way of tricking people into believing the opposite of the truth is lying.

Obama arrogantly claimed he didn't read blogs
October 1, 2009 - 09:52 ET by OxyCon...during the primaries, even though he is a member of DailyKos and wrote several blog postings for that left wing hate speech website.
Why, somone could possibly have shouted "you lie" after his obvious untruth was told.
But now the annointed one who "doesn't read blogs" is lowering the highest office in the land by running his very own DailyKos style blog. He probably even has DailyKos lunatics writing his material for him.
As for Beck, yeah I've criticised him here before about his antics because I know first hand how easily it would be for the left to take him down based on those antics. It's hard to be taken seriously when you're behaving like a clown.
But I will say this. Beck is beating the lefties at their own game right now. This is why he's drawing their ire. He's taken the lefty playbook and he's beating them over the head with it and there ain't a damned thing they can do about it except get all wee weed up about it and look miserable the way Behar does.
No doubt Beck has a giant target painted on his back right now and the White House and all the lefty blogs are looking to take him out. Especially the White House since Beck is now targeting Obama's inner circle. I'm sure they didn't enjoy yesterdays show which highligheted Valerie Jarrett, the Obama kingmaker.

2. Again, it was proven that WMD did exist and even one of Hussein's former top generals confirmed it and the fact that most of it was shipped to Syria before the invasion (another fact the SRM tried to bury and liberals continually ignore/deny).
3. We don't really torture. We may make them uncomfortable but what we do is far from torture....no matter how many times liberals or even John McShame claim to the contrary. What the terrorists do......beheadings, beatings, blowing up innocent civilians...THAT is torture.

White House Avoids The Issue
October 1, 2009 - 11:09 ET by dboNoel,
As a resident of Vancouver, while Beck may of misspoke on when the games take place he has, if anything, underestimated the financial liability. The story that you reference is strictly for the City of Vancouver. The $850 million liability for the athlete's village is just the tip of the iceberg. The main player in all this is the Province of British Columbia. Their original budget of 1.75 billion is now in the neighbourhood of $6 billion depending on how you calculate it. In addition, the federal government is on the hook for the bulk of the security budget that started at $175 million and now is rumored to be around $900 million. There are also many districts around Vancouver that occurred significant expenses as well.
So Beck, who just received the key to his hometown city 50 miles south of here, is perfectly right to raise the issue.
Incidentally, on a personal note, I have been selected as an official Olympic torchbearer. I will be running with the Olympic torch on February 09, 2010 just 3 days before the games start. So I don`t care how much they cost...6,8,10 billion is worth it to me. :-))
you are so lucky to live in Vancouver
October 1, 2009 - 11:39 ET by candanceI went there once and it was amazing!
Beck was right on point last night. Hosting the Olympics has more to do with earmark spending for friends who "manage" the funding, and less to do with what the ordinary citizens actually get from it.
NBC alone just paid over $2 billion to secure broadcasting of Olympic games. If they can't turn a profit and pay for their own stadiums, maybe they should change their business model. Being popular shouldn't be a license to feel entitled to welfare.

According to Howstuffworks:
Once you carry the flame you can then trace your provenance back through every Olympics in history to Zeus and the first Olympics in 776 BC! How cool is that!

The Obama Administration: THE most fiscally irresponsible Administration EVER
Big Daddy Obama
October 1, 2009 - 13:29 ET by CobraManIt is very apparent that Obama considers himself as America's Big Daddy and that his administration exists to inform and educate us all, for our own good, of course.. From this blog, to his speeches, to his actions in the various debates, Obama constantly projects his belief that he is Big Daddy and that he has the responsibility, nay the right, to correct and admonish anything or anyone he sees as "false"," "incorrect," or "misleading."
Of course, Obama isn't Big Daddy, He shouldn't spend so much time, and tax payer's money (which is something the liberals don't admit. WHO'S paying for this blog, for example?), "correcting" people. He should, and better, get BACK TO WORK administering the federal government, his one and only job.
Yes, administering the federal government is a very big, and very important, job, but being Big Daddy to America is not a part of his job description. As a matter of fact, it's above his pay grade. We, the People, are Big Daddy here. Obama would be wise to remember this.

Wow, bad form on Obama's part
October 1, 2009 - 13:45 ET by Captain KirockWhy elevate Beck to the point where the White House is now dealing with him one on one? There are literally thousands of Democratic hacks on the web, on tv, in the papers, who would gladly do the White House's bidding on this. Heck, those Obamatons don't even need to be asked, they just do it out of loyalty to their Great Leader.
This just shows that Chris Wallace was right: this White House is made up of the biggest bunch of crybabies in the world. They cannot handle ANY criticism and feel a need to crush all dissent.

October 1, 2009 - 15:41 ET by Sestren_NKIt's kind of funny in a way considering that in Bush's administration, I remember some people wanted to know why he didn't fight back against his critics and totally go after them. Now that we've seen Obama and his administration go after Rush, Hannity and Beck, and look completely ridiculous doing it, it's no wonder why.
Of course, had Bush done it people would have been screaming "dictator" for silencing his critics, but they were already calling him that anyway but don't seem to recognize Chavez, Achmedenijad and Castro as ones, not to mention they can't name what rights they thought they lost because they weren't ripped of any. But hey, Obama's staff tries to silence their critics and it's fair game. Go figure.
Ha...Beck's corrected at the top of his show
October 1, 2009 - 16:02 ET by Blondeand even played the tape. Now he's going to go through the financial facts.....per dbo above.
Nice town, fella! And congrats on the torch, too.
I hope he fails, too.
Yeah, come on Beck, where's
October 1, 2009 - 21:26 ET by RR GOPYeah, come on Beck, where's your American pride? Dontcha know that America is only great if it wins gold medals in tiddly winks?
The U.S. should have boycotted these games long ago...but our caviar nibbling, wine-sipping a-hole elitists over here prefer to be "citizens of the world" and hob nob with stuck up Old World types.
Besides, there's tons of money that can be made...a lot of it off the taxpayer, but that's beside the point.

October 1, 2009 - 23:02 ET by The7SticksI hate to break it to you, but as much of a talented entertainer he may be, he is no intellectual giant. First, he rips off a lot of his material from Phil Hendrie, whom I believe to be a superior broadcaster and entertainer and he backs up his facts all the time. Did you know that if we did the kind of truth digging Hendrie did, we'd find out that the healthcare plan that Obama is proposing would only cost $2.5 Trillion? That's not chump change there.

This whole Olymoic Village thing
October 2, 2009 - 04:48 ET by Chattychitois it really necessary for every City that hosts the Olympics whether summer or winter to create an Olympic Village?
Has this always been the case?
I am not to suave on the Olympic politics but is all that spending to build a whole village really needed?
What happens to the village afterward?
Is it converted into something beneficial for the community or is it torn down and something else built where it stood?
or does it become like a ghost town?
Will someone explain this to me so I can have a better Idea of what this Olympic village thing is all about.
