Did you know that the racism in our country is coming from Rush Limbaugh?
That's what HBO's Bill Maher said on Friday's "Real Time."
Not just that, but also the people who are buying guns and ammunition since Election Day are doing so "because they're afraid that Obama and his Negro army are going to come and get" them.
I kid you not.
Such offenses occurred in the following exchange between Maher and his conservative guest Andrew Breitbart (video embedded below the fold, relevant section at 2:37):
ANDREW BREITBART: Right now if you look online you'll see that "Atlas Shrugged" and Ayn Rand's books are, are, you know, flying off of the bookshelves, of the virtual bookshelves...
BILL MAHER: Well, so's ammo in Oklahoma.
BREITBART: Right, well okay...
MAHER: Oklahoma's out of ammo because they're afraid that Obama and his Negro army are going to come and get you.
BREITBART: Who's afraid of, who's, where's this racism coming from? I haven't seen this online.
MAHER: Well, the racism is coming from Rush Limbaugh. It's taking root in Oklahoma.
Imagine that. But there's more, for when Breitbart took offense Maher laughed.
Even better, after Maher's other guest, Georgetown professor and liberal talk radio host Michael Eric Dyson, elaborated on why Limbaugh is a racist, Breitbart pointed out that nobody was a bigger defender of Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas than Limbaugh.
This elicited uproarious laughter from Maher and his audience.
Breitbart then deliciously acknowledged the crowd's response: "Thank you MoveOn.org, I appreciate that."
Maher disgustingly replied: "Clarence Thomas, a, a black man who does not represent 95 percent of black people."
Once again, Breitbart correctly took offense:
That's bulls**t...You're allowed to have independent thought in this country. And this kind of intimidation by the black studies intelligentsia crowd that, that intimidates black people who are conservatives...
Maher then asked an amazingly stupid question: "You think black people are intimidated from being conservative?"
Ummm, Bill, you just intimidated black people from being conservative by laughing when Clarence Thomas's name was brought up and insulting him with your claim that he doesn't represent 95 percent of black people.
Unfortunately, Maher is so filled with hatred towards conservatives -- and, of course, black conservatives -- that he missed this obvious hypocrisy.

I spent some time last week on a liberal... er, excuse me, "Libertarian" radio talk show here at home. Better part of an hour, actually. At the end, I had thwarted his attempts to bait me into an argument, and articulated conservative points cleanly--to the point where the liberal... oh, sorry, "Libertarian" host didn't have a way to intelligently respond.
So what did he do? He hung up on me, called me a theocrat, and agreed with his comrade callers who called me an Islamofascist and said I sounded like a member of the Taliban.
We can't blame liberals for acting like liberals. But if we don't talk to them, how can we even hope to address the errors in their worldview? And please don't think I've come to a conclusion here. I'm asking a question for which I don't know a better answer--but I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject.

I would say, short answer : by example. I am not sure playing by the liberals engagement rules is the best way to sell conservatism. So more likely it would be best to take the longer route already identified. Take back our education system. Let today's kindergartner be tomorrows news reporter and activist.
On the other hand, while we each lead our self-sufficient independent lives and try and work our way back into the minds of today's children - our country could very likely be taken out from under us. It almost has been already. So I ask myself - how can I make a difference when my vote obviously does not count anymore? Best solution I have come up with is not to give patronage to those who would sell their financial souls to the Liberal causes. I am only one person. If only there were more.

For example, turn it on Maher and ask him if he owns a firearm. If gun owners perceive the government is going to take away their Constitutional right to own a firearm, ask Maher what he thinks is the patriotic (or common sense) thing to do.
Show that his interpretation of events is more an indication of his mindset than reality. For goodness sake, be prepared for these statements.

That could be, in part, why Barkey blew off the UK Prime Minister. He blames them for the slave trade.
Obama stated once that keeping blacks poor and in the slums of Chicago was good for his politics. That was his power/voter base. For, if the blacks found they would be better off outside in the "white mans world" through education and assimilation, he would eventually lose his base of supporters. That was when he was in the Illinois Senate.
Now that he's the Prez, he has to impliment programs that appeal broadly to poor blacks and minorities in general (read: amnesty). That is where his power/voter base is and he intends to keep what he has and expand it through programs that cater to them.
His wife isn't much better. Her thesis dealt, in part, with the assimilation of well-educated blacks into white society. I feel she was less than pleased when she found that not all blacks coming out of an Ivy-league college didn't return to assist other blacks from where they came. They moved out and became too much like the white folks.
Barkey's challenge is to cater to the poor black communities while dragging along whites in the process that just happen to get caught up. If he could taylor his programs only to poor blacks he would. He has to carefully craft his words so that the whites will buy off on what he intends primarily for blacks.
I'm sorry if that rubs some the wrong way but if you're paying attention to everything that Barkey has written and said that's pretty much the conclusion you come out with.

Keep your cool people. Maher, Couric, Stewart, Matthews, Olberman and all the rest of these people are going to get louder and louder, and they'll scream higher and higher until the time comes when all of america looks at them wonders - 'What kind of rabid monsters are these and why are we letting them on TV?'
Let them scream and froth their way into the poorhouse where they belong. Maher's movie was a flop, and so is his show. Like liberal newspapers, the only reason it's still running is because they're hoping their Obama suck-up plan will net them taxpayer money so they can stay in existence to spread their lies.

The energy savings of course were negligible but he made his political point.

Had Dyson been aware of the depth of Limbaugh's race hatred he really could have owned Breitbart! As it was Breitbart was looking pretty lame. Check the video, notice the consternation on Breitbarts face, as he tries to claim that using a song by a black reporter isn't racist, only to be confronted with the "Bone in the nose" comment for which he has NO REPLY. "Delicious"! It's like the part of the bible where it says, "And there was silence in heaven for the space of a half hour!"

Limbaugh is an intelligent, educated, reasoned news commentator who does not pretend, unlike most in the MSM, to be an objective journalist.
He can be a bit hard to take, especially for those not accustomed to his satirical skits and songs and his tongue-in-cheek bombast, but he persuades his listeners with reason and humor, not base appeals to emotion as does the Left.
In the years I've listened to Rush, I cannot recall a single instance of racism on his show. But if he did say what you claim, and you can substantiate your claim, then I will immediately condemn his remarks and apologize to those whose credibility I've challenged..

I've listened to Rush Limbaugh regularly for 20 years. I've read his books and his newsletters. I've heard many folks who know him personally attest to his warm heart and excellent character. I've seen how the U.S. Armed Forces respond to him--they absolutely love and admire the guy. I've read about his family and the people who were most influential to him in his formative years. These are quality people who have a clear understanding of what's right and wrong.
I know something about MY parents and about THEIR values. They are bright people. They are good, decent and honest and they don't have a racist bone in their bodies. My brothers and sister and I are forever grateful to them for teaching us how disgusting and downright stupid racism is. We are all huge Rush Limbaugh fans. I know for a fact that if any of us were to ever hear or detect any racist message coming from Rush Limbaugh, he would become persona non grata in our family. We'd never tune in to his show. We'd never buy his books or his newsletters. And we certainly would never defend him or any racist message.
Your comments and accusations bare no resemblence to the truth. If you were to actually listen to Rush with a fair and open mind, you would be embarrassed by what you wrote. If you were to think like an individual rather than a brainwashed tool puking up talking points from some Leftist "I-HATE-RUSH" site, you would see that your accusations are silly.
Rush Limbaugh wants all people to succeed, regardless of race. His basic argument is that the Left keeps minorities --especially "African-Americans" -- trapped in a perpetual state of victimhood. Why would I care what a "fool" either thinks or says about ANYTHING? I happened to be channel surfing and came across ANDREW BREITBART and said, Oh, this might be nice. Largely because I post over at Big Hollywood and have never heard Andrew speak for very long. I was disappointed because the subject was Rush's racism which left Breitbart trying to defend a Racist! When some of the more offensive of Rush's comments like the, "bone outta your nose" deal, he got PWND because those comments ARE racist and ARE indefensible. That's how I came to be writing about this. I have had extensive knowledge of Rush Limbaugh as I worked with him briefly. Although NOTHING in our interaction led me to think anything bad about him, it did cause me to start listening to his show. Everyday. For a long time it was to prove to others that he WAS NOT a racist! Overtime as the comments began piling up, I became convinced of the converse.
The Donovan McNabb thing started the slide for me because I'm something of an NFL nut. I knew all the stats that were relevant and D McNabb was outstanding. He was probably at that time the ONE black Q.B that was actually immune from such criticism! There were guys like "Aaron Brooks" for example, who's longevity was something of a mystery and honestly if Rush had said the same thing about him, I don't think I'd have had as much of a problem. Brooks was clearly being carried by his team when his performance mandated the boot. Now, racial inclusion isn't the only possible reason for this, his upfront money was staggering as was the guarantee on his unusually guaranteed contract! All good reasons for squeezing blood out of a stone, as it were. However McNabb was (and is) a STAR. Especially back then. There was no way to conform Rush's remarks to the truth. And when I listened over and over to the broadcast, I concluded that he came to Monday Night Football with the express idea of vomiting these despicable views out into the public. And that disturbs me.
None of you really know Rush. IF you did, why were you following along when he was drugged out of his mind? Answer: because you didn't even know he was high. That alone should tell you how LITTLE you know him.

The so-called "N word" (the word is "nigger" if you don't know and are afraid to say it) is likely at the top of the list of words "not to be said" in America. Saying it is nothing as far as I'm concerned. Calling someone it, or referencing someone or some group with it is different than just saying it in context of a discussion about it. It's not considered a "cuss word" but in reality, it, and cuss words are all just words, on the surface, but carry strong implications if directed at someone. As for "Fag," "Dago," "Goomba" (I personally have never heard the latter two until you said them), those do not have the historical references that conjure up rage in America the way that one word does. Even you will type those other three, but so far will only type "N-word." (unless its in a post here that I didn't see). If it's not, you are skittish or downright afraid to type out the word itself, maybe due to not wanting to be labeled racist. I wouldn't label you as such for simply using it in context of discussion about it, but in your mind you view the mere mention of the word as racist and are ready to pounce at the mere mention of it so you don't want to put yourself in that same position that you eagerly await to put others into.
Unlike the other words you cite, that word is a purely American historical stain, not of historical significance anywhere but here (as far as I know). The others aren't even on the same level. To say people only complain because they can't say it is not at all true and simply, again, a ploy to imply that someone is racist, just wanting so badly to say a word to express their racism. I believe your desire to find what you perceive as racism in someone is quite a sad state of mind to be in.

Yeah, actually it is. Perhaps you should have listened more closely to the Professors statistics regarding per capita spending and classroom over crowding. Perhaps you should have listened to what was I think, the only decent point Bill Maher has ever made in his misbegotten life, about the teachers unions. My mother was a long term member of the AFT and she used to rail against the practice of shuffling failing teachers from White areas to the inner city! For years the teachers lobby has been so strong that it's almost easier to get fired working for the Post Office! When a teacher has been found to be "risky" dangerous, predatory, incompetent or even currently under investigation, they are shuffled off to the inner city. Much the same way as the false church has shuffled it's child molesting priests off from parish to parish! That's two principle areas that affect the classroom, quality of teachers and money per capita. Both of these inequities have been found to be so in court btw, so it's not just "opinion".

It was taught by one, who used "his" books that he had written, which had to purchased new..humm...for this class. He flunked the young man, as he questioned the text and veriocity of the claims; which I easily identified for him with a little research. When he "re-took" the course and just put in the answers that were "required", then he passed. Most talented, I have seriois doubts. When one hears what one wants to hear, and has a jaded ear to that subject already, he will hear what he wants.

Diversity classes at the time were still in its infancy but I received a wealth of knowledge from these classes. The history of jazz was one course I remembered fondly; it showed how African-Americans used art to rebel against a white power structure. Oh, and then there was Cultural Diversity that showed how America has created a salad bowl of cultures that have meshed to form one Union. It taught with tolerance and only with accepting the past transgressions of slavery and Jim Crowe laws that we as a country can move on.
As for code words, here are some that the right wingers are constantly using to describe Obama: Over his head- this connotes that he is ignorant because he is African-American. Or when they talk about how much his dinners cost- this is used to show the African-American stereotype about “bling”. I could go on but I suppose you now get the point.

But the ''heart" of states rights, in their case, was the retention of slavery vs the Union's attempts to abolish it.
Also more recently was the incident of the 'Little Rock Nine' in 1957 Arkansas where Democratic Governor Orval Faubus sent the Arkansas National Guard to physically prevent black students from entering a newly desegregated school.
Republican President Eisenhower first deployed federal troops and law enforcement to protect the Little Rock Nine then 'federalized' the National Guard, removing it from Faubus' control.
Another classic issue of 'states rights' but once again 'civil rights and desegregation' were not the goals of state leaders.
In fact in both cases their goals were in preventing civil rights reform and keeping blacks enslaved and segregated second class citizens.

As I was that poster I guess I'll respond. I said that Limbaugh HID behind the authorship of the song so that he could blast the song all day. I have never considered Rush to be a racist. In fact, absent an unambiguous, smoking-gun admission, or actions which defy any and all other logical explanations, the establishment of intent must always suffer from the inherent limitations of speculation--it is suggestive but not conclusive. Simply put, we cannot look into the heart and mind of someone and know, to any significant degree of moral certtitude, that person's motives or beliefs. As such, I think it arrogant and presumptuous for anyone to accuse Rush of racism.
However, a reasonably compelling case can be made that Limbaugh has been guilty of racial insensitivity on occasion. Examples abound, and they have been noted and addressed elsewhere in the thread--from his repeated use of the word "axed" instead of "asked", to the "bone out of your nose" remark [granted, it was several decades ago], to his McNabb commentary, and other instances mentioned here as well as some not mentioned. To me, this behavior is simply indefensible, and, it has nothing to do with Rush's politics or principles. I don't think Robert Byrd's use of the term "white nigger" is excusable either. And, if I were African-American, I would be deeply, personally offended by such conduct on the part of either.
Since you refer specifically to the 'Magic Negro' incident, I'll explain the reason why I found Rush's actions objectionable in that case. First, the term wasn't originated by Ehrenstein, nor is it of recent vintage at all. Its usage as a literary device has an extraordinarily lengthy history. And it was within that context Ehrenstein resurrected and reexamined the term and associated it, perhaps a little too clumsily, with Obama. Now, Rush did indeed offer some sound and intelligent arguments regarding the social implications and liberal hypocrisies surrounding the issue--[those who believe Limbaugh is anything less than extremely bright are seriously deluding themseves]--and had it been left at that I would agree with your observation that Rush was being condemned for "merely expanding on the author's point." But Rush didn't and wouldn't just leave it at that. It was as if he had suddenly been granted an unlimited license to utter the formerly taboo "Negro" with absolutely no encumbering contraints--rhetorical, societal, or otherwise. And he did so, over and over again, until his insightful analysis had completed devolved into unseemly mockery, which the subsequent 'Magic Negro' parody only served to compound.
Consequently, while it may be unfair to negatively speculate on Rush's beliefs about race, it is not inappropriate to evaluate his conduct relating to questions of taste. And it is in that latter regard where I believe he occasionally fails.

I think this nation is way TOOOO conscious of race. Personal example. THe other day we had a BBQ at our office. One of the white guys brought a watermelon. We were asked to move our BBQ from one area to another for administrative reasons as someone needed our area to work in. We did so.
In the course of hastily moving things I absentmindedly asked one of the black guys if he had seen the watermelon and where it had been placed since he was the guy I had last seen holding it. I got a funny look by all of the non-black people who were there.
Our society is filled to the brim with race consciousness training wheter we identify it or not. I get a two hour class each quarter on race issues (Sexual harrassment is another lengthy block) that put togehter wastes about a waork day each year.

When anything is done that can even remotely be used as an accusation of "keeping blacks from voting," or "keeping the elderly from voting" there are outcries all over the place that their Constitutional "rights" are being violated. And those with the loud voices use "low-income" as the reason for it, saying blacks and elderly are disproportionately effected due to disproportionately being of low-income status and that it's a backdoor method of keeping these people from voting.
Apply that to the 2nd Amendment "right." Is there any national outcry that the proposal of such an insurance requirement would be denying any demographic from owning guns? Nope. And why not? Answer - nothing political to gain here, move along.

THus, now that we have ramped up our requirements (Aditional live fire training prior to deployments etc) we have had to go onto the open market to procure 5.56mm, 9mm, 7.62mm, and .50Cal ammuntion. the plants who make this ammuniton commercially have been producing as fast as they can and have pulled workers off of other lines to make up shortfalls.
THey will not open new facilities to produce more ammunition because they expect Obama to close contracts soon and they do not wish to be stuck holding the bag.
Civilians have been purhasing amunition at inflated rates due to adesire to not be without and thus the price has risen.
THat in a nutshell explains the ammunition shortage.

Oh, I agree with you, that is their agenda...and it is absolutely infuriating...I'm with you all the way, I have read your posts in the past and we are basically in agreement on all if I recall.

It is then properly pointed out that Limbaugh is and was a huge supporter of a black Supreme Court Justice. Maher's response is that Clarence Thomas' views are not in line with most of black people. What difference does that make? Being a racist is judging people based on the color of their skin. Judging people based on their politics is the antithesis of racism. We're supposed to judge people on their behavior and attitudes. In a normal world, it is perfectly acceptable for Rush Limbaugh, or anyone, to judge a person based on their beliefs. Rush likes Clarence Thomas, not because he is black, but because of who he is and what he stands for. This is considered criminal in the liberal world. To Maher, Rush is a racist because Rush does not share the same views as most black people. It is too bad the absurdity of this positon will forever be lost on someone like Bill Maher.

They have created the language policing state that we live in, and are continually promoting the expansion by not only crying "RACIST" when someone mentions anything they remotely perceive or fake-perceive as negative about black people (for the purpose of using it against any non-liberal thinker, to continue to push the agenda), but are building on that with a silencing agenda, not wanting to even discuss the matter, but instead trying to shut the discussion down anytime someone expresses a common sensical thought. Common sense and logic need not be allowed into the conversation, where large words disguised as intellectual enlightenment and continuous nonsensical talking could otherwise be drowning it out.

Sure, he sounds "intellectual" and yes he's an articulate speaker (and we all know that that alone can get one elected President), but to throw "let me be articulate here for a moment" in Breitbart's face is nothing but a moronic implication and likely accusation, that Breitbart himself is a racist who views black people, Dyson included, as unable to articulate.
In a nutshell, Breitbart, speaking plainly, is correct and speaking with common sense, pointing out political correctness that liberals do NOT want anyone to point out. Dyson, speaking fast and furious with implications that Breitbart is prejudice or racist or beneath him in intellect, is quite idiotic.
When asked to provide backing for saying Rush says racist things, Mahr tries to defer over to Dyson. Dyson picks up the torch, doesn't actually give any examples, but begins his own rant, and Mahr and Dyson successfully skirt the question and keep their thought of "Rush as racist" intact without having to reveal their ignorance by saying something like "I don't know."
I toss emails back and forth with a woman I used to work with. She also uses the "racist" accusation toward me, yet has never once backed that up with a reason. She uses the same theme Maher did, and says....."everything you say is racist," which reveals more about her than she realizes. But knowing who the source is, I completely expect that response.

I see it all the time in New Orleans, where "ministers" picket and threaten recalls for city council members, because they are white. Give me 5 minutes with Dyson and I'll show you who the bigot is. When the guns and ammo started flying off the shelf, there were many worries about Iran & North Korea being able to hit California with missles. The upside Bill Maher lives in California so if he is strike first priority, he will be the 1st to enjoy the dreaded Oklahoma Experience. Oklahomans worried about "The Winds" coming off of an attack on California...now go ahead and make fun of paranoid Okies. Then think back to 9/11 and answer if you thought that could happen. If you're old enough remember Pearl Harbor. California has the 4th largest economy...would it be a strike first target to hurt the U.S? No I am sure the Pentagon is ignoring that possiblity/sarc.

There is no other subject like racism, where the desire to appear intelligent among one's pears outweighs the validity of one's argument. In that same vein, the desire to avoid the stigma, or the scarlet "RACIST", outweighs the validity of ones argument. The only valid form of debate on racism would have to be anonymously. Only there will ideas stand on their validity and not on the posture of those providing them. And that's exactly why it will never happen.Now I don't know if that is the cowardice Holder was talking about ( i.e., a frank, void of posturing, discussion on race in the 21st century), but it should have been.
