Greta Takes on Anderson Cooper and his Executive Producer

Whether or not you like her program on Fox News, you gotta love Greta Van Susteren's spunk.

After all, even though it's Independence Day, the host of "On the Record" has taken the time to respond to the somewhat childish taunts of "Anderson Cooper 360's" executive producer David Doss who told TVNewser on Tuesday:

We're a news program — ["On the Record"] is not a news program. It's missing-person-of-the-day. There's an audience for that, but it's not what we do. We're covering the world, not just covering who's missing today.

Van Susteren wasn't taking this lying down (emphasis added, h/t TVNewser, picture courtesy FNC):

Not a news program?

Now why is he picking a fight? and why is trying to make less of us at 10pm ? Is it because we consistently beat them and have for years?

This is silly that the CNN executive producer of Anderson Cooper is taking a swipe at our hard work but I am going to defend my staff from what is intended to pretend our show is not news.

Yes, now let me KEEP THEM HONEST:

Let’s take a look at this…I asked someone to get me some information (I am busy at 10pm so do not get to watch their show.) What CNN is doing at ten? And how do they conduct themselves? Credibility or not?

To paraphrase MS/NBC’s Keith Olbermann, yes many in the news industry behind the scenes - even my friends at CNN - laugh about the fact that CNN’s 10pm show has been a “marketing experiment.” It has been rumored that in one year they spent about 27 million dollars in advertising of Anderson Cooper in their experiment. No network has ever spent that kind of money just to market one person. By the way, the President of CNN told me that Anderson Cooper has a staff of nearly 60. We beat them with our staff…of about 12.

How delicious. You go, girl!

She left out my most

She left out my most favorite line: He is the "Paris Hilton" of Network anchors.

HA! HA!

NS

I like Greta, and always have.  Her voice is annoying as all get out, and the incessant "missing chick" theme of many of her shows is idiotic.

But Greta is at her absolute best just doing an interview.  Did you see her doing a whole segment on the B1 bomber?  She was superb.  I wish Fox would get her out of the "crime" paradigm, and give her more "real" work to do.  She's smart as hell, and asks great questions.

annoying as all get out

"As all get out". Don't see many people use that phrase. My grandmother used it all the time and so did my mother. As you can imagine, my grandkids wonder what I'm talking about when I use it. Nice.

Hey zach,

Thanks.  I have no idea where I picked that up, but it makes a point, yes?

I guess we're just old fossils....ha!

As often as all get out

Blonde, you probably picked that up on your travels through Iowa.  I use that phrase as often as all get out.  Of course, I'm old enough to be a grandpa... though not by much!

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

"annoying as all

"annoying as all get-out"....

Does that mean someone can be as annoying as "some" get-out?

LOL

I know that phrase too, and I grew up in New England.

Seems the saying is/was popular everywhere.

Raised in Alabama and living

Raised in Alabama and living in Mississippi "all get out " is every day talk. LOL! Seems we don't talk so different down here huh? What a great county! I guess I can say "I reckon I like Greta just fine!"  Don't pick on me too much folks! Happy 4th!!

"Nuke 'em 'til they... oh hell, just shoot 'em!"

"All get out"

I have no idea....but it's a good phrase.

Greta just turned me on!

A very nice surprise Greta! Lets see more of this!

Greta’s questions and

Greta’s questions and follow-ups are designed to bring out every last fact and minute detail… whether she's questioning a police chief or Karl Rove.  I agree, Blonde, Greta’s skills are under-utilized.

I don't like or dislike

I don't like or dislike Greta. I do find her show boring and pointless. Greta is intelligent if a bit left wing. She is at least fair when she gets into the political waters. The only reason she beats CNN though is that she comes on after Bill O'Reilly and Hanity. Then after her show is the Bill O'Reilly repeat. Now Anderson Cooper has a pointless show as well but he has pointless shows on either side of him. I really think that is only difference as far as the ratings go.

I THINK YOU ARE OFF BASE...

Ryan Mc,

The Cheesehead (Greta is from Wisconsin & has called herself a Cheesehead) has a very good show & she brings in very good guests. She does not fit the mold of the normal cable news show, & does not fit the stereotypical FNC show. You know, the raving right wing, flamethrowing commentary types. She is more or less, non political, & brings us stories in an interesting manner, she along with her guests bring thoughtfull insight to the story at hand.

Does she have better shows leading in? Yep, she sure does. She also left CNN in 2002 to go to FNC, so there may be a little bitterness that 1 of CNN's former on air talents has jumped to the evil that is FoxNews & kicks their @$$ in EVERY ratings book. CNN's problems with lead in shows for AC 360 are THEIR FAULT. They just extended the corpse known as Larry King through 2011, & they might as well put up a test pattern against O'Reilly & BathTubBoy. CNN has been worthless since the AOL/TimeWarner merger, & since they still have not figured it out, IT'S THEIR PROBLEM, not Greta's.

LONG LIVE THE CHEESEHEAD.

"the raving right wing,

"the raving right wing, flamethrowing commentary types."

Sorry to cover old ground here at newsbusters but Bill O'Reilly is hardly raving right wing. (Raving at times yes) He is for gun control, campaign finance, global warming legislation. He is a wishy washy moderate. Because he doesn't want to surrender our country to mexicans or jihadists he is labeled "right wing".

Then you have Hanity and Colms. One on the right the other on the left. Colms is hardly right wing.

"The Cheesehead (Greta is from Wisconsin & has called herself a Cheesehead) has a very good show & she brings in very good guests."

The guests I see are the same "O.J" era hacks or victim's family members, which impact no one outside the family in question. There is no value to me in hearing about some teenage girl in CO who was killed. After an hour of hearing speculation about suspicious behavior I am no better off or more informed about anything of substance at all. Its a step above tabloid jornalism. At least with Bill O'Reilly I might hear about national issues that effect me in some way.

A COUPLE OF THINGS...

I agree with you about O'Reilly & H&C, I was trying to state the "stereotypical" image that many in the MSM have about FNC on air talents. I should have been more clear, but you omitted the word "stereotypical". I don't beleive O'Reilly is a right winger, but he is not liberal, or secular progressive as he would say it. He gets tagged as a righty because he fights the extreme left, & since they are getting more agressive & angry as time goes by, he gets it as bad as El-Rushbo, even though Rush IS the conservative leader in America.

H&C is balanced like you said, nothing to debate about there.

As for Greta, her show is mainly about legal issues, often criminal legal issues. She is a lawyer by trade, & her guests have legal backrounds or are connected to whatever case is being covered on the show. You seem to have an issue with how show presents the show & who she has on. I don't, & I guess we shall agree to disagree. You can watch something else, so it's no big deal. That is how I go about shows I don't care for.

"...it's still We The People, Right?"  Megadeth

Sorry I misunderstood you.

Sorry I misunderstood you. I thought you were an unhinged liberal malcontent. Glad to hear you are not.

I hope I didn't offend too much.

Ryan Mc...

No offence taken, I'm sort of living proof of the old saying that states if you are 20 & not a liberal, you have no heart, & if you are 40 & not a conservative, you have no brain. It just did'nt take me the full 40 years to get to that point.

"...it's still We The People, Right?"  Megadeth

Anderson Cooper does a news show? Who knew?

Silly me, as I have always assumed it was nothing more than a running commercial for the DNC - much like most of the other stuff now airing on that once-proud network.

I liked CNN much better back in its BJ (Before Jane) heyday.

LOL-I bet Greta could take Anderson, too, and I am not talking about ratings. :-)

The truth is insensitive. - Neal Boortz

To paraphrase MS/NBC’s Keith Olbermann,

Adding insult to injury.

Might have to throw some water on a 3 way cat fight.

I LMAO when she left CNN

I LMAO when she left CNN for Fox...she stated about the bias and the force she felt she was made to put on CNN with her half hour show back then (I think it was a half hour show) .. and the difference with her freedom at Fox...I have been pleasantly surprised with her show since she joined Fox, sometimes I watch, sometimes I don't, but I think she has always been pretty fair and balanced, we all know she leans left..but she has always seemed to be fair to me...

On the other hand...then there is Anderson....

Good for her taking his and CNN's tripe on.

"America isn't the problem...America is the solution." ~ Rush Limbaugh

Time Slot

Greta was in the same time slot as O'Reilly when she was at CNN.  She was no competition.  I don't have the opportunity to watch Greta much but I like most of her legal panel and find them of great humor.

Good for Greta.  Her show is getting recognition and her obscure blog made Drudge.  Anderson Cooper?  Who is that?  ZZZZZZZZ

"Money is the scourge of the men who attempt to reverse the law of causality--the men who seek to replace the mind by seizing the products of the mind."  Ayn Rand

Greta

Never watch Greta very much as I am pretty much saturated with the police scanner type stuff by the end of the day, what with the California car chases, the latest arrested celebrity. She does do a good job of pressing the people for details and going after the story. Ive only watch whatizface once (anderson Cooper) and it was like watching oatmeal cook when you were a kid. A large, unattractive gray blob just sitting there quivering and every once in a while a slow bubble would rise to the surface to slowly burst with a tiny puff of steam without a sound. Tasteless, ugly and not worth all the trouble.

I like her now and believe

I like her now and believe that she is a good journalist. But I just can't shake how early in her career she was a cheerleader for O. J. Simpson. She actually believed he was innocent. She was really unpleasant to watch back then.

She came by it naturally

OJ was her ticket out. She was a defense attorney in DC when the call came. Somehow, and lucky and good for her, she turned a few "expert" analysis shticks on TV about the law and OJ into a career. She appears to be somewhat left of center but not a raving lunatic about it.

Although I'm an avid

Although I'm an avid FoxNews watcher, I rarely watch Greta due to her focus on missing persons and other crimes. That focus is to be expected due to her background in law; nevertheless, the show must work since she's getting the ratings.

However, I'm not impressed with her interviewing skills when it comes to interviewing Democrats. Then Greta's liberal slant comes to the forefront. Case in point: Her recent interview with Speaker Nancy Pelosi that I watched and NewsBusters' documented.  http://newsbusters.o...

That being said, if I had to appear in court I would want Greta as part of my defense team.

Greta really is Ponderous

I'm no Anderson Cooper fan but he's right about Greta.  Not only is her subject matter ponderous (successful only because she follows O'Reilly / H&C) but literally irresponsible...

Anyone remember one show in April where she had Howard K. Stern and his attorney on FOR THE ENTIRE SHOW one year after Anna Nicole Smith's death??

PONDEROUS!
