Daily Kos Week in Review: Rage Against the Right

May 1st, 2011 11:16 PM

Though Daily Kos is, of course, a left-wing site, "anti-conservative" actually would be a better description for it. Generally, Kossacks spill far more pixels sneering at and maligning the right and its ideas than they spend touting their own pet causes.

Highlights from this past week's righty-bashing are below. As usual, each headline is preceded by the blogger's name or pseudonym.

CornSyrupAwareness: Trump is the logical Republican nominee

Is it any wonder that Republicans want Donald Trump to be President? Casinos operate in a way that's pleasing to the Fox News viewer. Inside a casino there are strictly defined winners and losers. The winners are given their own high roller sections...They are kept away from the losers by cameras and big security guys and their own elevators...

The class system inside a casino, is just like the one Republicans have tried to build outside the casino...

And the casino's winners and losers mirror the GOP War on Drugs and for profit prison schemes...

Leftwing Noise Machine: Rove is the unwitting creator of the Tea Party

...Rove spent a career furiously rendering the golden know-nothing memes of the cheap labor conservative movement...

But now...Rove has apparently realized...that he was too successful by half.  The subliterate rightwing myrmidons have actually taken his memes seriously.  Even Rove didn’t think they were that stupid.  The result is that Palin appeared like the Wicked Witch of the West in a puff of red smoke, and the Tea Party was born...

Kos: The GOP's plan is to 'f--k up the country'

...Boehner's own "analysis" makes clear why Republicans have set out to sabotage Obama's and the Democratic agenda since day one–the best chance they have to win back the White House is to fuck up the country so badly, that people mistakenly give Republicans another shot at running it...

JDWolverton: Ryan's Medicare reform plan is a killer

...Apparently, Paul Ryan is more interested in scoring points spewing rhetoric than in presenting a cohesive, competent plan...He follows the Republican KoolAid sipping herd. His plan is a new spin on old, failed ideas, but Teahadists lap it up nodding agreement like bobbleheads. He's offering a killer plan that we can't live with. It's one we can certainly die with...

TheGrandWazoo: The right is running out of time to execute its schemes

...In essence, the Right are extremely powerful, but the fields in which they can exert their power are limited to the near future by changes in the American [racial] landscape, and to Congress and the statehouses by their low chances of capturing the Presidency.

This is why they have lost all subtly [sic]; they have to use all their strength to rob us quickly, because they don’t have time for a better plan...

Windtalker: Attend town-hall meetings while you still can

...[I]t does feel great to speak up and directly confront the person [Ryan] who's budget proposal is going to hurt the poorest, oldest, and most frail of our citizens.  This IS what democracy looks like, and this is what we're fighting for.  Because if the Koch Brothers and Donald Trump and the Republicans have their way, nobody will get a chance to say anything...

Avenging Angel: Conservatism is based on lies and fear

...[A]lmost every conservative talking point is not intended to be a factual statement.  From President Obama's birthplace and "tax cuts that pay for themselves" to death panels, a government takeover of health care and so much other mythmaking, virtually every article of conservative faith is a fraud. Yet the Republican Party is neither scorned not laughed off the national stage but instead, aided by a complicit media desperate for entertainment value and ratings, is rewarded with power...

Vyan: Ditto

...Conservatives are more prone to Authoritarianism because they're more likely to be ruled by fear...

...[M]any of the things the GOP fervently and desperately believe are simply not true...

...[T]he Lies just keep coming and coming, while what may otherwise seem like perfectly reasonable, rational and intelligent persons seem absolutely unable to shake free of them.
They don't want to be broken free of them, and their [sic] very likely to project and accuse you of being "Afraid of the Truth"...
It's like they've been hypnotized. Their [sic] like a Cult in need not simply of being confronted with uncontrovertible fact, they've been programmed to distrust anything said b[y] someone outside their inner circle.  And simply inundating them with a Fact Storm just won't help...
