New Politico CEO Patrick Steel Claims He 'Skews Moderate Politically'....But Look at His Donations

As we reported earlier, Politico hired an eight-year veteran of Bill Clinton’s White House to be its new CEO...at the very same time Politico was warning of how the liberal media bubble was hardening in Washington! In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Steel tried to suggest he “skews moderate politically,” which makes no sense when you consider he donated more than $50,000 to Democrats and zero to Republicans:

At Politico, Mr. Steel needs to figure out how to keep the audience and ad business expanding at a healthy clip in the age of Donald Trump and the rise of far-right candidates in Europe, as seen in France’s election. “I think there is a tremendous runway for growth as people are now, more than ever, trying to understand politics and government,” Mr. Steel said. Mr. Steel, who logged time with President Bill Clinton’s administration in the ‘90s and raised money for Hillary Clinton, says he skews moderate politically, though says he’s a businessman first.

A quick look at Steel’s donations in 2016 are an easy rebuttal to “skews moderate politically.” Put aside the donations to Hillary Clinton as if she "skews moderate." He donated $250 to Chuck Schumer. He donated $500 to radical leftist Zephyr Teachout, who lost a run for Congress in New York. He donated $1,000 to former Al Gore environmental adviser Katie McGinty, who lost to Sen. Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania.

In Maryland, he donated $1,000 to Congressman John Delaney, who has an American Conservative Union rating of 4.5 percent conservative....and he donated $2,000 to newly elected Congressman Jamie Raskin, another Bernie Sanders-backing radical (the one who beat Mrs. Chris Matthews).
