Dan Rather Impressed That Redford Will Play Him as 'Truth-Telling'

On Friday, The Washington Post reported what may be obvious. On his own website, disgraced former CBS anchor Dan Rather is thrilled someone’s making a Rathergate movie based on a book by his producer Mary Mapes, the Bonnie to his Clod. It's sad the Hollywood Left is handing money over to Mapes for trying to dig out of that journalistic fiasco.

“A long life has taught me that he who lives by the crystal ball learns to eat a lot of broken glass; so who knows if the movie will actually get made,” Rather wrote. “I do know that Mary Mapes wrote a great book and that Redford and Cate Blanchett (who is to play Mapes) are incredible talents.”

Rather is sticking to the ridiculous noting that he was a “truth teller” on the Bush Air National Guard records, that he didn’t (cynically or moronically) push badly forged documents on the American people just weeks before an election:

I've always been impressed by what Esquire magazine described as Redford's "faith in film as truth telling." And partly because of that I am pleased that he's agreed to take on the challenge of trying to make a film about political and corporate interference with truth-telling investigative journalism.

It’s too bad they’re not making a movie about delusional egotists who can’t tell fact from fiction. That would be a movie based on Rather’s reality.
