Liberal Radio: Chris Christie Compared to Crack-Smoking Mayor of Toronto

November 13th, 2013 10:13 PM

Comedian and CNN contributor Dean Obeidallah showed up on the Stephanie Miller radio show on Tuesday. The topic was Chris Christie and Obeidallah's article for The Daily Beast, headlined "Don't Believe the Chris Christie Hype; Look at His Economic Record."

Miller called Christie a "big bully," but Obeidallah dug low in the mud pit, insulting him as "the Rob Ford of the south," after the obese mayor of Toronto who recently admitted smoking crack.

Obeidallah presented what Miller called “not so fun facts about Christie.” They asserted that the economic numbers in New Jersey are not good, whether it's unemployment, job growth, economic growth, or poverty. They also discussed that Christie is against gay marriage, a major problem for lesbian Miller. In the Daily Beast, Obeidallah called Christie's economic record "crappy," and concluded with more weight chatter:

Of course, Christie isn’t responsible for all these economic woes. He is governor, not king of New Jersey. But that doesn’t mean his opponents in the 2016 GOP primaries won’t run negative ads showing the New Jersey statistics, followed by the tag line: “Can America really afford Chris Christie as president?”

A lot can happen to the state’s economy between now and then. But unless the economic numbers improve greatly, Christie will be wishing people were still just talking about his weight and not what matters most: his record.
