CBS Crew Mock Trump as a Fatty Over Ice Cream Taste: ‘He’s a Very Big Guy’

May 12th, 2017 2:35 PM

Proving there is absolutely nothing journalists won’t savage Donald Trump over, the co-hosts of CBS This Morning on Friday called the President fat. In the wake of a snide Time magazine story claiming that he has two scoops of ice cream for dessert, Norah O’Donnell insisted that at a recent dinner “everybody else just got one scoop of ice cream.”

Co-host Gayle King judged, “It says to me that he likes ice cream and he's a big guy.” Charlie Rose said the real issue is “how much more he’s eating than other people.” King mocked, “He's very big. He's a very big guy.”

The so-called journalists all shared a laugh at Trump’s supposed fatness. As a reminder, King is the same person who vacations with the Obamas and is a Democratic donor. It’s unlikely she would call a liberal politician obese.

Later in the show, CBS’s Bob Schieffer would compare the firing of FBI director James Comey to the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

A transcript of the exchange is below:

CBS This Morning
5/12/17
7:31am ET

GAYLE KING: Time magazine staffers had dinner with the President at the White House this week and reveals what they learned in a cover story called “Donald Trump After Hours.” The President gave them a tour highlighting a big new TV setup in the dining room near the Oval Office. He calls TiVo one of the greatest inventions of all time. TiVo is good. He uses it to watch a variety of news coverage.

NORAH O’DONNELL: Now, at the dinner, Time says waiters brought President a diet Coke while the others got water. And only the President was served an extra dish of sauce with the chicken. And during dessert, the President received two scoops of ice cream. Everybody else just got one scoop of ice cream.

KING:  It says to me that he likes ice cream and he's a big guy. I would bet if you're there at the White House and you said, “Could I have an extra scoop of ice cream, you would get it.” Don’t you think?

CHARLIE ROSE: I don't think that's the question. It think it’s how much more he's eating than other people?

[All laugh.]

KING: He’s very big. He’s a very big guy.
