Huh? CNN: Jewish Ivanka Trump Boycotting Easter Egg Roll?

April 17th, 2017 12:02 PM

CNN’s John Berman on Monday promoted a bizarre conspiracy theory as to why Ivanka Trump and her husband Jered Kushner were not visible at Monday’s Easter Egg roll: He theorized it had something to do with the couple being Jewish.

Covering the event live, Berman narrated, “Just so you know, we are looking at pictures from the south lawn of the White House. And all the Trump kids appear to be there.” Then, Berman brought in religion: “Not Ivanka or Jared Kushner. Of course, Ivanka Trump is Jewish. I don't know if she's taking part in the Easter egg roll on the south lawn or not. But many of the Trump kids there taking part in some of the festivities to be sure.”

Maybe Berman isn’t aware of this, but the Easter Bunny and egg rolls are not actually part of Christian theology or the religious part of the holiday.

On Sunday, Ivanka Trump tweeted, “Happy Easter. Wishing you and your family a joyous and meaningful day!” She followed-up with a picture of her daughter, adding, “A little over a year ago on Easter Sunday, this little chick was born and our family was complete! #HappyEaster!”

Does that sound like someone offended by the Easter Bunny?

JOHN BERMAN: Just so you know, we are looking at pictures from the south lawn of the White House. And all the Trump kids appear to be there. I see Donald Trump, I see Eric Trump —  Donald Trump Jr. —  I see Eric Trump. I saw Tiffany Trump just there before. Not Ivanka or Jared Kushner. Of course, Ivanka Trump is Jewish. I don't know if she's taking part in the Easter egg roll on the south lawn or not. But many of the Trump kids there taking part, and the President himself, taking part in some of the the festivities to be sure.
