MRC’s Brent Bozell: Journalists Want Trump Removed From Office

April 5th, 2017 3:52 PM

Media Research Center President Brent Bozell on Wednesday blasted the coverage of the Susan Rice "unmasking" scandal, saying that reporters are making a “mockery of the news media.” Appearing on Fox Business’s Intelligence Report, he also made a prediction of journalistic end game: “The media will not say it, but their position is he never should have been elected and he should be removed from office. Don't kid yourself.... They what they want him out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.”

Regarding Rice’s explanation of her actions, Bozell explained, “Susan Rice is now on record having given two different versions of a story where she knew nothing about it and now, well, she did it. But there was nothing wrong with it. This is the same Susan Rice who went on five national news shows after Benghazi and lied and blamed it on a video.”

He noted that the networks eventually covered the bombshell, but jumped to Rice’s defense. Regarding Chris Matthews claiming sexism, Bozell added, “It's an insult to women.”

TRISH REGAN: Here on the Intelligence Report, we have been reporting about the Susan Rice controversy and how the former National Security Adviser allegedly made several requests to unmask the identities of Trump officials. Though she claims that what she did is nothing at all unusual. You know, if you have been watching the other networks, well, they are reporting a very different story. Watch this here.

[Montage of network coverage.]

REGAN: Because she’s a woman? Because she’s a black? Oh, my goodness. Brent Bozell from the Media Research Center is joining me with a look at this. And it really feels as though once again we are seeing an alternative universe and there’s a real double standard, if you would, here.

BRENT BOZELL: There’s never been a greater example of this. Look, yesterday, you had all the networks gave it more than three minutes of coverage. Now, that’s not an avalanche, but that’s significant. But now, look at the tone of the coverage. Both NBC and ABC spent their time defending Susan Rice on this and dismissing it. CNN –– MSNBC, Chris Matthews, I love the guy. He —

REGAN: I like him too. I like him too. But you know where Chris is coming from.

BOZELL: But any — It’s such an insult to intelligent black women that he called it sexist and misogynist or whatever. And racist.

REGAN: I mean, she’s fair game, right? She’s fair game.

BOZELL: But not if you're Chris Matthews. You’re not. You're not because she's a woman and because she's black, and you really shouldn't treat them that way. It's an insult to women. I’m telling you. But here's the point: Susan Rice is now on record having given two different versions of a story where she knew nothing about it and now, well, she did it but there was nothing wrong with it. This is the same Susan Rice who went on five national news shows after Benghazi and lied and blamed it on a video and yet you have got Andrea Mitchell reporting her spin on it that this was the latest of a Trump administration series of attacks. The Trump administration had nothing to do with this. This was Bloomberg at Fox that broke stories on this. And “critics say,” I love it, critics say that this is an attempt to deflect from the Russia investigation. No, the media had to start investigating this stuff where they make a mockery of the news media

REGAN: They don’t want to though. They make that very clear. They don't even want to cover this story. I mean, you saw Don Lemon the other night on CNN saying, you know, “I'm not going to insult your intelligence by even covering this.”

BOZELL: Yeah. And I think the public has to understand — and they do understand — nine out of ten Americans said they understood that the media had an agenda against Donald Trump. That agenda continues, but it's even worse. I'm telling you this right now: The media will not say it, but their position is he never should have been elected and he should be removed from office. Don't kid yourself. This is exactly— they want him out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. So they're keeping a story alive that has absolutely no legs. And when there are legs on Obama’s administration, nothing happened.
