Celeb D.L. Hughley Sneers of Trump: ‘My Daddy Survived Jim Crow’

November 9th, 2016 1:10 AM

The celebrity freak out continued on election night as Trump did well all over the country. The liberal women of The View anchored live coverage on the Lifetime network. Actor and host D.L. Hughley appeared as a guest and sneered, “People are talking about leaving [the country]. My daddy survived Jim Crow, I can survive Donald Trump.”

He complained, “I think that America, we know now that grabbing a vagina is not as bad as having one to some people. I think that people say one thing out loud and do another thing.”

On Obama, Hughley said of him leaving: “I think that America is going to have a great deal to be remorseful about when they see how elegant and diplomatic and mature and statesman like. And it will be a shame.”

Hughley hyperbolically insisted, “I think his legacy should be gets a third term to some degree.”

Over on Comedy Central, Daily Show host Trevor Noah said he was “shitting” his pants over Trump’s possible win, adding that it’s “the end of the world.”

JOY BEHAR: So, DL, I know that you are a huge — a huge Hillary supporter.

D.L. HUGHLEY:  Yeah. Right.

BEHAR: So, how are you feeling right now being a huge Hillary fan?

HUGHLEY: Well, I think that it was always going to be close. think that people have -- I think that America, we know now that grabbing a vagina is not as bad as having one to some people. I think that people say one thing out loud and do another thing. Like, this is Facebook. You know how people pretend to be all cool, and then you read their stuff? This is us reading America's e-mails out loud, because ultimately —  and people are talking about leaving. My daddy survived Jim Crow, I can survive Donald Trump. I think — only in America would your qualification for having the biggest office in the world be not being qualified.

On Obama

HUGHLEY: I think, ultimately, history writes itself. But this president, the first time wages have gone up in 30 years. Unemployment under 4.9 percent. He has the highest approval rating of any two term president in history. Yes, he’s a terrorist. That says it right there. I think his legacy should be gets a third term to some degree. So, we’ll see what it is. But I think that America is going to have a great deal to be remorseful about when they see how elegant and diplomatic and mature and statesman like. And it will be a shame.
