‘View’ Hosts Declare Bloomberg a ‘Fiscal Conservative’

January 25th, 2016 5:48 PM

Talk about your wacky analysis. The women of The View on Monday weighed in on Michael Bloomberg’s potential third party run for the White House and deemed the former New York mayor a “fiscal conservative.”  This is the same Bloomberg behind the soda tax, the man who endorsed Obama for president and ObamaCare.

Good Morning America regular and View co-host Paula Faris asserted, “He's a fiscal conservative, but he’s, you know, a social liberal.” Well, she’s half right. Faris added that Bloomberg might appeal to people who “don’t like Trump and still... identify as a conservative.”

GMA lifestyle contributor Sarah Haines also appeared on The View. She described Bloomberg as a “pragmatic moderate.”

Earlier in the day, the networks hyped Bloomberg without mentioning his  rabid support for gun control. The women of The View would probably find this to be another “moderate” position.

[On Michael Bloomberg running.]

JOY BEHAR: It’s going to hurt Bernie. It's going to hurt the Democrats, in my opinion. What do you think?

SARAH HAINES: Well, I think we've got Bloomberg who's, like, a pragmatic moderate. But if he ends up with who he wants. He's going to wait until after the primary to make sure that it's not Bernie Sanders. I don't think he'll run if it's Hillary. So, if you have Trump versus Cruz or Trump versus Bernie,  I think it's interesting that Bloomberg think there's a place for a moderate in a campaign that's ---

CANDACE CAMERON BURE: I think there is. There is.

HAINES: But the thing is if the parties are saying these are our two best candidates, is there a place for Bloomberg in this particular campaign?

PAULA FARIS: There’s never been an independent. I think the thing that makes him so interesting is that he was a Republican and then he became a Democrat and then he became an independent. But I think you're right, I think it would hurt Hillary most. But I think he could persuade voters like you because he's a fiscal conservative, but he’s, you know, a social liberal, for people who don’t like Trump and still consider themselves and identify as a conservative.
