Will Widespread Global Cooling Reports Freeze Al Gore Media Credibility?

June 15th, 2009 7:43 AM

It is "an inconvenient truth" for Al Gore that the world is currently experiencing some of the coldest weather in decades. Just how cold? How about snow in Saudi Arabia in May according to this report?

According to a story in the Saudi Gazette and sourced to the American News Agency, the Associated Press, snow fell in Al-Baha city, to the south-west of Riyadh, on Tuesday.

Torrential rain poured down on Al-Baha accompanied by gusty winds.

The nearby mountains received some snow too.

It covered the valley areas and the forests of Al-Zaraeb and Khayrah, according to the report.

If this were the only such  report, it could be written off as just an isolated incident of freak weather. Unfortunately for Al Gore's credibility there have been widespread reports of unseasonably cold weather from many sources including a story yesterday in the Minneapolis Star Tribune about a "year without summer."

Summer's coming. Grab a sweater.

Sunday and Monday may be in the 80s, but some forecasters say don't be fooled.

Across Minnesota and the Dakotas, temperatures could be below normal through the end of August, according to the federal Climate Prediction Center. The outlook for "meteorological summer" -- June, July and August -- prompted one Accuweather forecaster to predict a "year without summer."

"That's how the dice are loaded," said the Climate Prediction Center's senior meteorologist, Ed O'Lenic.

So far, the trend toward a cool summer has been emphatic, with furnaces blasting through the first days of June across the state. The average daily temperature for the first 11 days of June in the Twin Cities was 7.2 degrees below normal.

As of Friday, lilacs hadn't bloomed yet at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center near Finland, Minn. They're usually out June 6.

Meanwhile Chicago is experiencing a very cold summer as well. In fact it has been described by the WGN Weather Blog as "one for the record."

The cloudy, chilly and rainy open to June here has been the talk of the town. So far this June is running more than 12 degrees cooler than last year, and the clouds, rain and chilly lake winds have been persistent. The average temperature at O'Hare International Airport through Friday has been only 59.5 degrees: nearly 7 degrees below normal and the coldest since records there began 50 years ago.

How long can Al Gore continue shilling the dangers of global warming when it is actually global cooling that is causing problems, especially in agriculture, as pointed out in this report in the Canadian Press?

WINNIPEG — Even for the hardiest Prairie farmer, 2009 is shaping up to be a big challenge.

Following a bitterly cold winter and a spring that refused to warm up, farmers are looking at reduced production and low yields for virtually every crop.

"I've been farming for over 40 years and ... it was one of the longest and coldest springs that I can remember," Chuck Fossay, who grows canola, flax and other crops near Starbuck, Man., said Thursday.

"We just managed to finish seeding on Sunday, so we're about three weeks behind in seeding (and) the crop is very slow coming out of the ground 'cause of the cold weather."

Fossay, whose land was hit by frost even in June, is not alone.

According to the Canadian Wheat Board's annual crop outlook issued Thursday, producers across the Prairies will be producing smaller crops.

Think this unseasonably cold weather is happening just in the Midwest and Canada? Guess again. Even Botswana in Africa is reporting unusually cold weather. And in another part of the Southern Hemisphere, Australian ski resorts are enjoying the heavy snowfall due to low temperatures according to this story:

A cold snap has struck Australia's southern states and territories, with sub-zero temperatures and snow hitting Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales and Tasmania.

In Victoria, there have been snow showers on Melbourne's Dandenong Ranges and parts of central Victoria, including Trentham.

All an intrepid reporter has to do is a Google search to find the numerous current reports on widespread Global Cooling, including an AP story about June snow in North Dakota. So with all these reports about worldwide cold weather pouring in, why does Al Gore still have a shred of credibility left? When will he be questioned about how we can have Global Warming when all the evidence is now pointing towards Global Cooling? Come to think of it, when will Heidi Cullen, James Hansen, and Maggie Rodriguez of the CBS Early Show who fretted about an "ice-free" North Pole last year be called to account for being spectacularly wrong by the MSM?

In the meantime, enjoy this video of  the founder of The Weather Channel who wants to sue Al Gore for Global Warming fraud. Oh, and don't forget to add Heidi Cullen, James Hansen, Maggie Rodriguez, and most of the MSM to the defendants list.
