On Day Ten Barbra Streisand Writes 'As We Now Enter the Third Week of the Shutdown'

NewsBusters readers know that one of the problems with liberal media members is their poor math skills.

Barbra Streisand demonstrated this perfectly Thursday publishing an op-ed on the tenth day of the new fiscal year that began, "As we now enter the third week of the unnecessary government shutdown."

Actually, we'll enter the third week on October 15.

It's a good thing she's got accountants to count her money for her.

But that's not the only howler in her piece:

President Obama has provided access to health care through private insurers that will both help our economy and millions of Americans. It should be noted that the ACA was based on an idea from the conservative Heritage Foundation. The 2012 GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney signed similar legislation in Massachusetts as Governor. Our country is one of the few major industrial nations in the world that did not provide access to health care for its own people. Many have a simple, single payer system.

The opening days of the ACA showed significant demand for health care access. Perhaps the greatest Republican fear is that their rhetoric about the ACA, including government "death panels," will be quickly proven false. When explained properly, the provisions of the ACA are quite popular. Americans will soon understand that the law provides both needed benefits, and reduces medical costs and the deficit in the long run. This is the forecast by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

Notice that nowhere did Streisand mention ObamaCare's absolutely horrendous rollout since last Tuesday or the reports from states across the fruited plain that folks already possessing health insurance are receiving cancellation notices as well as drastically higher premiums for 2014.

I guess like the President she adores Babs isn't concerned about such things.

As for what the CBO has to say about ObamaCare, the most recent estimate is that it will cost $1.363 trillion in its first ten years.

As such, along with Streisand's disregard for math is a total disregard for facts.

On the other hand, is it possible that Babs has demonstrated for us why so many liberals adore ObamaCare?

Hmmm.
