Michigan Professor Tells Creative Writing Class 'Republicans Have Raped This Country'

September 4th, 2013 12:32 PM

A Michigan State University professor started his first creative writing class last week going on an eight-minute tirade about members of the GOP.

In the video published Thursday by Campus Reform, William S. Penn said Republicans "are cheap. They don't want to pay taxes because they have already raped this country and gotten everything out of it they possibly could" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

WILLIAM PENN, PROFESSOR OF CREATIVE WRITING, MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY: If you go to a Republican convention in Florida, you see all of the old people with all the dead skin cells washing off them. They’re cheap. They don't want to pay taxes because they’ve already raped this country and gotten everything out of it they possibly could. They don't want to pay for your tuition because who are you? Well, to me you’re somebody.

You can frown if you want. You look like you’re frowning at me. Are you frowning?

UNIDENTIFIED STUDENT: [Unintelligible]

PENN: Yeah, yeah. I’m a college professor. If I find out you’re a closet racist, I am coming after you. Okay. This country still is full of closet racists. What do you think is going on in South Carolina and North Carolina. Voter suppression. It’s about getting black people not to vote. Why? Because black people tend to vote Democratic. So why would Republicans want to do it? Well, because Republicans are not a majority in this country anymore. They’re a bunch of dead white people, or dying white people.

If you're a Republican forgive me. If your parents are Republicans forgive me. They won’t and I don’t care. But, but, Ann Romney a first lady? And remember this, if you’re just going to be a greedy bastard your whole life and just try to get things in this country, in order to be rich like Mitt Romney and hide all your income offshore in the Cayman Islands, you have to be, think about it, Mitt Romney.

Now I want to see a hand. Anybody here want to be Mitt Romney? Him? I mean, I mean married to her?

And I absolutely don’t mean to offend you. Even if you are a Republican I don’t mean to offend you in this class. Outside of class is a different matter.

He doesn't mean to offend this student in class? What exactly does he think he just did?

Be advised that according to CR, Penn "was a Distinguished Faculty Award recipient at MSU in 2003, and a two time winner of the prestigious Stephen Crane Prize for Fiction."

And this is one of the problems with America's education system: teachers and professors imposing their political beliefs on their students.

Is that what parents send their kids to school for?

I've got two kids and neither of them was sent to school to be politically indoctrinated.

There is a bright spot though. CR reported Tuesday evening that MSU is looking into the incident.

Will anything come of this investigation?

Stay tuned.

Readers are also advised that CR's findings were brought to light by conservative actress Patricia Heaton who tweeted several comments about this Tuesday:

It's nice to have her on our side, isn't it?
