Joe Klein: NRA 'Acting Like a Bunch of Crazies These Days'

There clearly is no limit to what liberal media members are allowed to say about the National Rifle Association in the wake of the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut.

Appearing on the syndicated Chris Matthews Show Sunday, Time's Joe Klein said the NRA "are acting like a bunch of crazies these days" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

JOE KLEIN: I think that the NRA still has a stranglehold on a lot of Democrats as well as, as well as Republicans. So it’s going to be hard. But the President can use the extremism of the NRA - who are acting like a bunch of crazies these days – to help sell the rest of his agenda.

Why is it crazier to advocate people be allowed to have guns to defend themselves against lunatics such as Adam Lanza, James Holmes, and Jared Loughner than advocating folks be left defenseless?

It seems media members such as Klein have more scorn for the NRA these days than they do maniacs committing these mass murders.

Is it any longer possible for liberals in the press to discuss sensitive issues facing our nation without personally attacking those they don't agree with?

Or is that asking too much from so-called journalists?
