Pennsylvania Man Shoots Relative in Halloween Costume, Thought She Was a Skunk

A Pennsylvania man shot a female relative Saturday night because he thought the girl dressed in a Halloween costume was a skunk.

According to New Sewickley Township police, the nine-year-old girl who attending a Halloween party was over a hillside in a black costume with a black hat and white tassel when she was shot at 8:30 PM.

Police Chief Ronald Leindecker told the Beaver County Times that an unidentified male relative mistook the girl as a skunk and shot her in the shoulder with a shotgun.

She was flown to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. Although alert at the time, there is no report on her current condition.

The man who wasn't drinking at the time has not yet been charged with anything.
