'The Notebook' Director Nick Cassavetes Defends Incest By Comparing It To Gay Marriage

Two days after a Gawker editor wrote about pedophilia being a "sexual orientation," film director Nick Cassavetes defended incest by comparing it to gay marriage.

Such occurred during an interview with TheWrap Sunday.

“I have no experience with incest,” Cassavetes said. “We started thinking about that. We had heard a few stories where brothers and sisters were completely, absolutely in love with one another. You know what? This whole movie is about judgment, and lack of it, and doing what you want."

His new movie is called Yellow, and involves an incestuous love affair between the lead character and her brother.

“I’m not saying this is an absolute but in a way, if you’re not having kids – who gives a damn?" Cassavetes said. "Love who you want. Isn’t that what we say? Gay marriage – love who you want? If it’s your brother or sister it’s super-weird, but if you look at it, you’re not hurting anybody except every single person who freaks out because you’re in love with one another.”

So, in the course of 48 hours, a popular website described pedophilia as "an illness deserving of the public's sympathy" and a "sexual orientation" while a film director defended incest.

Can you say "slippery slope?"
