August 3rd, 2012 10:40 AM

Comedy Central's Jon Stewart on Thursday took a delicious shot at the self-proclaimed "Most trusted name in news."

In a Daily Show sketch about networks issuing "Spoiler Alerts" before giving Summer Olympics results, Stewart marvelously joked, "People actually watch CNN NOT on mute?" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

JON STEWART, HOST: Oh, the Summer Olympics are in full swing, thrilling sports fans and people who become sports fans every four years or so. But there is a problem. The games of course are taking place in London five hours ahead of east coast which is really the only coast. Alright, in today's hyper-connected world, nothing stays secret for half a day. So the results are out there but NBC paid a lot of money to air these games. Luckily the news channels are watching out for you.

UNIDENTIFIED CNN ANCHOR: Cue the sirens again. Sirens equal spoiler alert. So we are getting some new results here in from this afternoon's Olympic events. So if you do not want to hear them, put your TV on mute right now.

STEWART: People watch CNN NOT on mute? [Laughter] Huh. I mean, why don't you just make the announcement how people really watch CNN. “If you don't want to see the results please look down at your treadmill [Laughter] or board your plane. This is CNN.

Indeed it is.
