Matthews Compares Romney to a Whore, Says He's 'Dog-Trained' and Wears 'Mom Jeans'

Now that Mitt Romney appears to be the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination, the Obama-loving media are out in full force attacking him.

Such was clearly evident on Monday's Morning Joe when Hardball host Chris Matthews compared the former Massachusetts governor to a whore, said he was "dog-trained," and mocked him for wearing "Mom jeans" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

"I think Romney's been sort of dog-trained to say certain things," Matthews said to laughs from his fellow panelists. "I don't have any idea what he believes."

"What is the guy?" Matthews asked.

"I think that they ripped that armor off of him yesterday when Newt came off with a perfect line - 'pious baloney.'" He continued, "It was brilliantly written to be printed in every family newspaper. You can say baloney, and you can say pious. And yet put those words together and it sounds like this is the biggest friggin' fraud there's ever been and I'm calling him on it."

Matthews continued, "They finally said yesterday, 'We don't want to get into your club. We want you out of it.' And so I thought it was a little, well, 'Revenge of the Nerds' if you will...And by the way, I was rooting for the nerds because this guy with his, what do you call them, Mom jeans?"

Shouldn't journalists be impartial when watching debates? Isn't it wrong to actually be rooting for anyone?

Even co-host Mika Brzezinski thought this attack was too much scolding her guest, "You're being mean. That's not nice. Stop it."

Unfortunately Matthews didn't stop, and instead said, "Nobody wears those clothes. Nobody dresses like that."

But this wasn't the lowest the Hardball host went, for a few minutes later he said, "The trouble with Romney is he's not proud of staying in any position. This guy's all across the board, he will be what you want. It's like Klute in the movie - 'What kind of a party do you want, buddy?' You know what I mean?"

For those that don't know what he meant, Klute was a prostitute played by Jane Fonda in 1971.

Despite getting the quote wrong - she actually said, "What kind of a party did you have in mind?" - Matthews was clearly comparing a former Massachusetts governor and current Republican presidential candidate to a whore.

And this is what passes for journalism in America today.
