Tom Cruise Banned From Filming at German Military Sites Due to Scientology

By now you should know the drill concerning potables, combustibles, and sharp objects…

American heartthrob Tom Cruise has been prevented from filming scenes to a new movie about the assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler at German military sites due to the actor’s connection with Scientology.

I kid you not.

As reported by Reuters Monday (emphasis added throughout):

Cruise, also one of the film's producers, is a member of the Church of Scientology which the German government does not recognize as a church. Berlin says it masquerades as a religion to make money, a charge Scientology leaders reject.

Hmmm. Sounds a bit like global warming alarmism, doesn’t it? Of course, the U.S. government wouldn’t dare take such action against those zealots for then there wouldn’t be any more movies made in America. But I digress:

The U.S. actor has been cast as Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, leader of the unsuccessful attempt to assassinate the Nazi dictator in July 1944 with a bomb hidden in a briefcase.

Defense Ministry spokesman Harald Kammerbauer said the film makers "will not be allowed to film at German military sites if Count Stauffenberg is played by Tom Cruise, who has publicly professed to being a member of the Scientology cult".

In reality, this is all a cover-up. Anonymous sources inside the German defense ministry claim that many in that agency are huge Oprah Winfrey fans, and will never forgive Cruise for jumping on her couch.

Truth be told, neither will I.
