MRC’s Rich Noyes Slams Media for ‘Double Standard’ with Health Accusations

The Media Research Center’s Research Director Rich Noyes joined Elizabeth McDonald on Fox Business Network’s Risk and Reward Monday, to discuss the media’s lack of questions regarding Hillary Clinton’s health. McDonald noted that a Huffington Post writer was recently fired for raising such questions, and that there were more than just him. “Given what happened on Sunday, it’s the journalists who were dismissing all of these things as conspiracy theories and non-sense that should be fired,” Noyes stated.

Noyes argued that there is something to the story and that Sunday’s incident takes it out of the realm of “internet gossip.” He reminded viewers that Clinton had a history of medical conditions, from a concussion to blood clots. Noyes then called out the Huffington Post for their hypocrisy and history of trying to diagnosis Trump with mental conditions:

And I would point out there is a double standard with the Huffington Post. Last month they picked up an article from a lawyer, not a psychologist, that was trying to diagnosis Trump with some kind of personality disorder. Well, that article is still up there on their website. It’s ok to diagnosis Donald Trump from afar, but apparently you lose your job if you do the same thing with Hillary Clinton.

McDonald brought attention to the fact that the media suddenly became angry with the Clinton campaign for keeping them “in the dark” about her health. “It seems like the press only gets angry when they are the ones slighted,” she explained. “I don’t know why they’re so surprised,” Noyes joked, “I mean, there is a list of times Hillary Clinton has been untruthful with her press corp, and yet she— you know, they continue to shocked every time that she misleads them. You know, this is something where they look like fools.”

ELIZABETH MCDONALD: That was a contributor, David Seaman, he used to write for the liberal website Huffington Post. He’s now speaking out, saying he was fired for posting articles covering Hillary’s health the out spoken reporter joining a growing list of journalists and TV personalities, reportedly, given the heave-ho for criticizing the Democratic presidential nominee.

Back with us we have Media Research Center Director Rich Noyes, says the main stream media is basically—what’s happening here is just the beginning. What do you think sir?

RISH NOYES: Well I think, given what happened on Sunday, it’s the journalists who were dismissing all of these things as conspiracy theories and non-sense that should be fired, not the ones trying to dig into the Hillary Clinton health story. I mean, it turns out there’s really a “there” there. This is not just, you know, internet gossip, but something more real. It was out there for months for people to see.

These coughing episodes are not something from the last few days. She’s got this history of concussion, and blood clots, and deep vein thrombosis. You know it’s not that irresponsible to ask questions about it. Now, I don’t think you should speculate and go all the way to diagnosis. But you know, the journalists who were following Hillary day to day and outside writers should have been asking questions and put this on the radar screen.

MCDONALD: Yeah, the Clinton campaign their answer is, “There is nothing here. Stop picking on us. Move along.” Right, Rich?

But now the media is really ripping into the Clinton campaign for keeping it in the dark on Hillary’s pneumonia diagnosis. And you know, it seems like the press only gets angry when they are the ones slighted. Right, Rich?

NOYES: Well, they’re upset they were lied too. On the other hand, you know, I don’t know why they’re so surprised. You know Hillary Clinton lied about being under sniper fire in Bosnia years ago. She lied about not sending or receiving classified information. That was dismissed by the FBI director’s investigation. I mean, there is a list of times Hillary Clinton has been untruthful with her press corp, and yet she— you know, they continue to shocked every time that she misleads them. You know, this is something where they look like fools, because they were joining her spin patrol is dismissing all these questions about her health. And now those questions have become something that is obvious and can’t be dismissed. And they realize they weren’t doing their job in the last few weeks.
