FNC's The O'Reilly Factor Spotlights Media's Lack of Interest in FRC Shooting

August 18th, 2012 11:54 AM

MRC Research Director and NewsBusters senior editor Rich Noyes appeared on FNC's The O'Reilly Factor Friday night to talk about the so-called "mainstream" media's lack of interest in news that a volunteer at D.C.-based gay group walked into the Family Research Council's offices and opened fire, wounding a security guard.

Guest host Juan Williams branded the lack of coverage "outrageous." Noyes described how if the reverse had happened -- a Christian conservative volunteer invading a liberal headquarters with 50 rounds of ammo -- the same networks that barely touched the FRC shooting would undoubtedly have provided far more intensive coverage.

Background: On Wednesday night, only ABC offered a detailed report, while CBS and NBC's evening newscasts offered only a few seconds of coverage each. The next morning, CBS ignored the story completely, NBC provided only brief coverage, while ABC had a full follow-up piece.

MRC President and NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell made the media's response the topic of his latest news column: "These networks are aiding and abetting liberal violence by refusing to identify it as liberal violence. Whether it’s vandalism at Chick-fil-A or rapes in Occupy Wall Street camps, these networks simply cannot find “news” in liberal violence of any kind."
