Media Mash: Newsweek 'Queen of Rage' Smear of Michele Bachmann Edition

"I don't know what's worse," Tina Brown's selection of the wild-eyed Michele Bachmann cover photo for Newsweek or her "bold-faced lie" defending the choice, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Fox News's Sean Hannity on his program last night.

"There's not a person in the face of this Earth that looks at that picture and says, 'she looks more presidential,' which is what Tina Brown" insisted on the August 10 edition of MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

In fact, "that picture was done deliberately to make [Bachmann] look crazy" and was so bad that even the left-wing National Organization for Women has denounced the photo selection, the Media Research Center founder noted in last night's "Media Mash" segment.

What's more, while Newsweek was once a respectable, albeit biased magazine, it has since went bankrupt, was bought for one dollar by the "left-wing Internet rag" The Daily Beast, which Brown publishes. As such, "this is not serious journalism anymore" and is a "joke" of a brand, Bozell insisted.

Also discussed during the "Media Mash" segment was how the media have amplified liberal politicians' claims that the S&P downgrade of U.S. sovereign credit was the fault of the Tea Party.
