CHRIS MATTHEWS: And by the way there's a lot of features of European politics that we can benefit from, like not having to fight every goddamn war in the world. You know?

TAD DEVINE: OK, we'll be happy to talk about that later tonight, Chris.

MATTHEWS: We don't have to be doing that. I think he's right about stuff. You know, this reason we have a big military is because we came out of a Cold War, we had to come up with other uses for our military establishment.

DEVINE: OK.

MATTHEWS: That's what I think.

DEVINE: Listen, you're on message, I'll tell you that, OK?

MATTHEWS: I tell ya, anyway, I think those are good elements to your guy.
