'View's' Behar: 'In 23 Years the Polar Cap Will Disappear'

November 28th, 2007 2:32 PM

Faux climatologist Joy Behar, who previously exclaimed drought stricken victims in Georgia should pray "to people who will fix global warming" again raised a provocative forecast after meeting with presidential candidate John Edwards

"But he said some scary thing- one of the things he said that I thought was very interesting was that in 23 years the polar cap will disappear."

Perhaps Joy Behar can inform the masses whether or not there will be a white Christmas this year given her ability to see into the future. Behar, who took such an alarmist prediction without question, may have believed Paul Ehrlich in 1969 who predicted that "England will not exist in the year 2000."

Behar also worried that the American people are "not aware of the fact that we’re in a crisis." Barbara Walters at that point strongly disagreed stating "There isn’t an issue, there isn’t an issue of a magazine or a newspaper or a discussion that doesn’t talk about people trying to live green."

The transcript of the exchange is below.

JOY BEHAR: Yesterday I was at a discussion group with John Edwards, who was running for president of the United States. And he was talking about the environment, as a matter of fact.

BARBARA WALTERS: But everybody’s talking about the environment.

BEHAR: But he said some scary thing- one of the things he said that I thought was very interesting was that in 23 years the polar cap will disappear.

WALTERS: Well, other people have said that.

BEHAR: Which is- well he says that Americans are not aware of the fact that we’re in a crisis. They think it’s-

WALTERS: Al Gore! Did you hear of a movie? Did you hear-

BEHAR: Now wait, American- the American population is not aware of it.

WALTERS: Well, yes they’re doing more

BEHAR: Okay, they’re aware of it Barbara

[laughter]

WALTERS: There isn’t an issue, there isn’t an issue of a magazine or a newspaper or a discussion that doesn’t talk about people trying to live green.

BEHAR: Well, if they’re so aware of it, but then we would be doing something about it.

WALTERS: People are!

BEHAR: And in 23 years the polar cap is going to disappear, and that is going to spell disaster.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Well, they said that about black people too. I didn’t believe it then.
