Beck Fires Back: Calls Series of Stories about Mother’s Suicide 'Despicable Yellow Journalism'

Recently, the McClatchy-owned The News Tribune of Tacoma, Wash. and the left-leaning Salon.com ran stories questioning whether or not Glenn Beck's mother, Mary Beck committed suicide. It was later propagated by the left-wing storefronts.

And, on Fox News Channel's Oct. 5 "Glenn Beck" program, Beck addressed that and some of the gripes he had about the media for not doing their job.

"I tell you all the time, I'm not a journalist," Beck said "I'm not. I joked that I'm a rodeo clown, but you know what - I take that back. I no longer am a rodeo clown. I am a dad, and quite frankly, I'm a little pissed off right now. You can call me names. You can make fun of me, whatever. I'm doing what I believe is right. I am doing a job as a private citizen right now."

Beck pleaded with a couple mainstream media outlets to do more hard hitting journalism when it comes to corruption.

"I would love to have The New York Times, The Washington Post, a duo like Woodward and Bernstein, even if they would just go for the Pulitzer, even if they didn't believe it, just go for the Pulitzer will you?" Beck said. "I would love for them to look into these things, but quite frankly, I didn't have to."

Any credited his own network, Fox News for having the courage to report on these stories.

"I would love for them to look into these things, but quite frankly, I didn't have to," Beck continued. "Will anyone look at these issues instead of looking at my past? We will continue to fight this, you and me together, you and me and quite frankly, Fox News, the Alamo for truth!"

What have the media looked at instead? They've looked into Glenn Beck's past - and not corruption in government.

"I'm tired of the people in the press railing about how bad I am for the Republicans or the

Democrats or honest to goodness even questioning, this was a series of stories, even questioning if my mother committed suicide when I was a kid," Beck said.

But that's where me made his impassioned plea to stop looking into his past and pointed at ACORN, the NEA and Van Jones as stories he went after that were missed in the mainstream media.

"Stop wasting your time on this kind of despicable yellow journalism," he continued. Why not spend your time proving me wrong or spend your time telling the American people that I wasn't wrong on ACORN or the NEA or Van Jones! If I'm in the ballpark, it's not because I'm a journalist, I'm just a dad doing this for my kids."
