Maddow to O'Donnell: Loved Your Murkowski Interview. O'Donnell to Maddow: It Wasn't Mine

November 22nd, 2010 1:04 PM

Such is the peril borne by the serial flatterer -- the flattery just might clang.

That's what happened when Lawrence O'Donnell appeared on MSNBC colleague Rachel Maddow's show on Nov. 18 to discuss possible repeal of the don't ask, don't tell policy regarding gays in the military.

At the end of their discussion, Maddow thanked O'Donnell and said this (video after page break) --

MADDOW: Lawrence O'Donnell, host of "The Last Word" which airs at 10 p.m. Eastern. Your interview last night with Lisa Murkowski was great and ...

O'DONNELL: Chris Hayes' interview with last night ...

MADDOW: Chris Hayes, yes ...

O'DONNELL: ... it was my first night off.

MADDOW: ... and it was sort of weird to hear Chris's voice coming from the corner over there.

O'DONNELL:  I loved it. I, you know, he did very well for us so I can take more nights off.

MADDOW: Thank you, Lawrence, really appreciate it.

O'DONNELL: I'm just gonna hang for the rest of the show and I'll ...

MADDOW: Excellent!
O'DONNELL: ... and I'll just do my show from right here.

By all means, Mr. O'Donnell, appear with Maddow more often.
