ABC/CBS/NBC Spend 100 Seconds On Comer’s Subpoenas, Still Claim ‘Zero Evidence’ On Joe

November 9th, 2023 4:30 PM

ABC, CBS, and NBC actually covered, on their Wednesday evening news programs, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer’s subpoenas of Hunter and James Biden.

However, they spent only 100 seconds total on it and the bombshell development was completely whisked away by Thursday morning, with zero mentions on this morning’s editions of ABC’s Good Morning America, CBS Mornings and NBC’s Today show.

Of course, the evening show anchors and correspondents dutifully advanced the thoroughly debunked line that there’s “no evidence” directly connecting to President Joe Biden.

On ABC’s World News Tonight anchor David Muir advised his viewers: “So far, Chairman James Comer’s committee has produced no evidence of crimes by the president. Today, the White House dismissed the inquiry as a baseless smear campaign that has turned up zero evidence.”

CBS anchor Norah O’Donnell on CBS Evening News made sure to pass along the spin from Hunter’s camp: “An attorney for Hunter Biden calls the subpoenas a political stunt and the Republicans’ claims discredited conspiracies.”

Over on NBC Nightly News, correspondent Laura Jarrett pushed the White House spin: “There’s no evidence of any wrongdoing by the president, something the White House is emphasizing tonight. And Hunter Biden’s attorney calling these subpoenas another political stunt, Lester.”

That’s it. One-hundred seconds of dismissive coverage by the Big Three network evening shows on the Comer subpoenas. It’s just the latest example of these leftist journalists doing their best to bury the Biden family scandals.

The following are the full transcripts of the relevant segments from the November 8 editions of ABC’s World News Tonight, CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News

DAVID MUIR: On Capitol Hill the House Oversight committee issuing subpoenas for the testimony of members of President Biden’s family, including his brother James Biden, and son Hunter Biden. The committee escalating its investigation. So far, Chairman James Comer’s committee has produced no evidence of crimes by the president. Today, the White House dismissed the inquiry as a baseless smear campaign that has turned up zero evidence.

NORAH O’DONNELL: House Republicans escalated their impeachment inquiry into president Biden today, issuing subpoenas for testimony from the president’s son, Hunter, and his brother, James, and also demanding written interviews from other associates and family members. The House Oversight committee claims there is evidence that the Biden family members set up shell companies to hide money from overseas, adding that Biden, his family, and associates allegedly received more than $24 million from foreign nationals and companies. We have not yet been able to confirm that. An attorney for Hunter Biden calls the subpoenas a political stunt and the Republicans’ claims discredited conspiracies.

LESTER HOLT: And Laura, different story I know you’re following tonight. House Republicans escalating their impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. Some new subpoenas on his family tonight. Tell us about it.

LAURA JARRETT: Well that’s right. House Oversight chair James Comer has threatened these subpoenas for months now on a hunt for what he’s calling the Biden family’s influence-peddling schemes. Now dropping these subpoenas on the President’s son, Hunter, his brother, James, and a family associate, requesting their depositions next month and voluntary interviews with other families members as well. There’s no evidence of any wrongdoing by the president, something the White House is emphasizing tonight. And Hunter Biden’s attorney calling these subpoenas another political stunt, Lester.

HOLT: All right, Laura Jarrett, thanks.
