NBC Uses Edited Clips to Recount Romney 'Flubs'

On Wednesday's NBC Nightly News, correspondent Chuck Todd filed a report in which he recounted verbal "flubs" of the Romney campaign, but, as he showed brief clips of past Romney statements, he neglected to provide the full context that would have made the clips seem less embarrassing.

Anchor Brian Williams introduced the report:

Now we switch to the presidential campaign trail where, on the heels of a big win in Illinois just last night, Mitt Romney's campaign found itself once again fending off the damage from a self-inflicted wound, specifically a quote they he would like to have back right about now.

After noting that former Florida Governor Jeb Bush endorsed Romney after the Illinois primary, Todd added:

Still, Bush's signal the Romney's nomination is inevitable was exactly the message that team Romney hoped would drive the day. But, like some other flubs after big primary victories-

Then came two clips of Romney from the past:

MITT ROMNEY CLIP #1: I like being able to fire people.

ROMNEY CLIP #2: I'm not concerned about the very poor.

Todd continued:

-a gaffe rained on the candidate's Illinois parade.
