MRC Launches New Campaign, Puts Media's Advertisers On Notice

May 31st, 2017 10:20 AM

Media Research Center (MRC) President Brent Bozell today announced a new campaign  that will focus on informing the American public and corporate advertisers about leftist shows and on-air personalities who use their programs to spread vicious lies and hate.

“We are putting the radical left on notice that we are on to them. We know the inside-outside game that radical organizations are playing with their leftist allies in the "news" media. The radical left’s effort to silence conservative media  by targeting their advertisers with coordinated smear campaigns has gone unanswered, but today is the day the conservative movement fights back, but with a big difference: We'll tell the truth. And we'll take no prisoners.

“Every network and cable news channel is today on notice that the MRC will be closely monitoring their leftist opinion programs and informing their advertisers and the American public when these programs and hosts go beyond political commentary and engage in smear, hate and political extremism.  The difference between our effort and what the left is engaged in is that we will demonstrate to the advertisers of these programs how the hosts of these shows are not simply engaged in disagreeable political discussion but rather outright hate and personal character assassination.

"Today we are putting ten shows, and their major corporate sponsors on notice that we are watching their every move. Additionally, we will be publicly listing the advertisers of these programs and asking them to defend their decision to continue airing ads on these shows. Every time one of their on-air personalities go beyond political commentary and engage in smear and hate, we are going to unleash an army of activists to contact these advertisers by phone and through social media to ask them why they are advertising on programs that are so biased, repulsive and morally bankrupt."

The advertiser lists were determined through screening prime-time cable shows from May 11 to 25 and Sunday shows from May 7 to 28. Every advertiser listed appeared on the program at least three times during the screening period to make the list.

POLITICS NATION WITH AL SHARPTON
Al Sharpton began his national career with an inflammatory and false accusation that six white men had raped 15-year-old Tawana Brawley in New York, for which he has never apologized. Sharpton’s speeches against “white interlopers” and Jewish “diamond merchants” led to several incidents of fatal racial violence. Since joining MSNBC, Sharpton lied about how his Mafia ties caused him to become a paid criminal informant for the FBI.

HARDBALL WITH CHRIS MATTHEWS
Chris Matthews once wished someone would put a “pellet” in Rush Limbaugh’s head so he could “explode like a giant blimp.” Matthews has accused the Republicans of being haters who thought of Obama this way: “We hate you, we want to kill you….politically.” Republicans want to “kill the black vote.” Matthews has smeared anyone who is pro-life as being a fascist. Matthews regularly accuses conservatives of being homophobic and racist.

ALL IN WITH CHRIS HAYES
Chris Hayes announced on the 2012 Memorial Day weekend that he was uncomfortable with using the word “heroes” to describe fallen soldiers, since that encouraged war, but in 2014 he comfortably described ISIS recruitment videos as showing a “heroic romantic struggle.” He defended a liberal journalist who rudely suggested President Trump was having sex with his daughter Ivanka.

THE RACHEL MADDOW SHOW
Rachel Maddow has accused Trump supporters of being Nazis. "I've been reading a lot about what it was like when Hitler first became chancellor.… I think that's possibly where we are.” Trump’s criticism of the media showed “we're oddly influential with the guy that wants to kill us.” After the Trump inauguration, she claimed most of his $107 million in Inauguration donations was still “sloshing around” Washington, with zero evidence.

THE LAST WORD WITH LAWRENCE O’DONNELL
Lawrence O’Donnell has smeared Trump as a racist. "Donald Trump will take his place now among the racists who have lived in the White House."  O’Donnell has smeared the Mormon religion as racist, evil, “pro-slavery,” and “demented.” On a regular basis he insults tens of millions of conservatives as racists, haters and homophobes.

AM JOY
Race-obsessed Joy Reid denounced millions of Tea Party supporters as racist, part of a “great industry in hatred and anger and self-victimization.” When Trump won, she endorsed the view that the popular vote "doesn't matter when about half the country votes KKK." She also described Trump's win as "bringing neo-Nazism in from the cold and giving it West Wing power." Attempts to repeal Obamacare were based on Trump voters thinking it was a “giveaway to people of color.”

ANDERSON COOPER 360
Anderson Cooper crosses the taste line to mock conservatives with obscenities. In 2009, he mocked the Tea Party with a reference to an oral sex practice: “It’s hard to talk when you’re tea-bagging.” In 2017, he grossly mocked a CNN colleague defending Trump: “If he took a dump on his desk, you would defend it.”

CNN TONIGHT WITH DON LEMON
Don Lemon often has a bizarre take on the news. Lemon brought on psychiatrist Dr. Drew Pinsky to ask him if Donald Trump was insane, and then when Pinsky said no, he asked if it had to be seen as unfair “to call someone who's a nominee of the Republican Party a sociopath?” Recently, he blamed President Trump for causing a congressional candidate in Montana to physically assault a liberal reporter right before a special election.

RELIABLE SOURCES
Reliable Sources host Brian Stelter decried the Trump election as a “national emergency,” and egged on journalists to start using the word “authoritarian” to describe Trump. He even tried to blame the fire-bombing of a North Carolina Republican Party office on Donald Trump. Stelter decries “fake news,” but was knocked for spreading a fake incident of airline “Islamophobia” posted on YouTube. After he and his CNN colleagues pushed advertisers to dump Bill O’Reilly, when CBS comedian Stephen Colbert made a crude oral-sex joke about the president, Stelter dishonestly declared he opposed pestering advertisers.

FAREED ZAKARIA GPS
Zakaria has been exposed as a blatant plagiarist of articles at The New Yorker and other prestigious liberal outlets. He repeatedly denounced Trump as a lifetime “bulls**tter” after he was elected. In 2005, Zakaria slammed George W. Bush as a “grand ayatollah” of Iraq, only less “rational” than the actual ayatollah there. Under Trump, he compared conservatives to radical Islam, somehow failing to denounce Trump's "extremes." Recently he proclaimed Trump “poses a danger to American democracy” that only the media can stop.
