It was that Obama was wearing a red striped tie, which is the traditional color for Republican states, and McCain was wearing a blue striped tie, the traditional color for Democrat states. However, red is also the communist color, and media reports that Obama is clearly more than just a socialist, but probably a communist in his final goals for America. Obama wore a flag, but McCain must have had an ACORN worker steal his on the way to the stage from the green room.
On points, as in the last 3 debates, it was pretty much a tie. Both scored here and there, and of course the Dems will say Obama won all 3 debates and the Reps will say McCain won them all. But on Fox there was a "focus group" and one man said pershaps Obama is a little better at debates, but he was more interested in what the candidates actually stood for, and he though McCain was the better president in terms of solid footing.
My opinion is this, regardless of who is at fault for the current difficulties, experience and wisdom count far more than "change" just because it is a campaign slogan. They both pledged for changes, but only McCain knows how to get changes applied, since with respect to changes, they really are not that far apart on the issues, just some implimentation issues. In short, they agree on most changes, but McCain's experienc and wisdom pretty much insures more sensible change, not just changes of the sake of winning a presidential election.
...that lil' Georgie already has his "WINNER OF DEBATE: OBAMA" with the big lame checkmark all ready to go? Wouldn't it be funny if someone in the graphics department screws up and shows it too early like right in the middle of the debate?
People, good article about the polls that we should all keep in mind, and something to kick around at the chat, concerning the "overall" polls and ones specifically for swing states:

Wow I thought I was the only one. My wife yells in to me: Its on. I told her watch what she wants. She walked in the room and put her hand on my forehead, and said: are you OK??
Some times I have to step away, to keep my sanity.
What is that line Laura Ingram uses, conservative in the wilderness. That is how I feel as well.
With Bush and this bailout, then the banks, Mc Cain talking about, greed this and greed that, carbon credits, on and on. Then there is Obama a no good suck A$$ Marxist. God help our country. God help us, and our children with all of the entitlements that will never go away and grow ever bigger. I feel some how like we have cheated our kids and grand kids of free enterprise, where if you work hard you get ahead, not just move to a new tax rate, so that some SOB, that has not broke a sweat in his life can have it a little easer...
Then I have to worry that I live in the nice Historic area in New Bern, but only about 8 or 9 blocks from the worst crime area in town. I worry that win or loose things will happen. I don’t know..

The registration required to chat during the presidential debate is terrible. I am already a registrant on NB. I don't care to float my email addy to a chat room I will use rarely.
The NB forum software is slow, buggy, and antiquated. In a word, the software is LAME.
No wonder Conservatives take so many potshots. We can hardly interact within 21st Century technology interfaces.
I know you all work hard to give the forum up-to-date and decisive articles - you do an excellent job in this area. I know that money is always a factor - why spend it on adequate but lacking software. And, I appreciate you seem to have gotten rid of the awful forced refresh on the main window - thank you for that. But, please, ditch this crappy forum software and use something that runs faster, is more user oriented, and works with fewer bugs.

This new chat login scheme stinks! It keeps saying I am not registered. I even tried re-registering and it wouldn't let me do that. So I guess no chat tonight for the last debate .. Bummer.
Obama spinning his way out of John Lewis comments, out of the palling around with terrorists...trying to say people are bad at McCains rally's not his...oh, MCain just brought up the Tee shirt ads and other things at his rallies...
ABOUT time....plus he called the people at his rallies are the most patriotic people....ect
I don't care about a washed up terrorist, but we need to more about your relationship with him, ACORN and his money paid to ACORN! Go John Go!
Obama now going on same old same old,the 8 yrs. old bs...now using the Annenberg school and the Reagan name...AGAIN!
Defending ACORN again...making Ill. register a motor voter law along with the Justice Dept...throwing names out like Buffett, Lugar,

Schieffer is constantly interjecting sounds under his breath while McCain is speaking. When Obama is talking I hear nothing from Schieffer--absolute silence for as long as Obama wants to talk.
bigtimer, Shieffer just interrupted McCain once again, in mid-sentence, while he was making a point, to ask Obama to immediately respond to McCain's statement. This is patently unfair to McCain. Let him finish his statement then allow Obama to respond. He has yet to interrupt Obama and ask McCain to immediately respond to a specific point. He is clearly giving Obama the advantage in this.
nervous verbal habits, doesn't he?? They drive me nuts! Can you imagine listening to this for four years???

McCain is doing much better tonight. He just nailed Obama on "drilling for oil" by pointing out his words don't match his elequonce -- Obama said "looking at offshore drilling" or something; McCain pointed out that he never said "drill offshore now". He also put in "Senator Obama, who's never traveled South of the border".... gotcha!

Warning! Don't... I repeat DON'T watch the msm. They have their stories and templates all ready. CNN will have that stupid black woman on, and will give her comments great credence. They will have their "instant polls" -- which are already recorded. You will hear how McCain looked, or how McCain dissed Obama, or how McCain slipped up on a syllable, or how McCain ... you get the picture. And of course, Obama won. We all know this by now.
BT -- back away from that remote -- NOW. Take two steps back and put the remote down.
And McCain just now slipped up -- he said "Senator OGovernment" -- then corrected himself. LOL!!!!

The more I listen to Obama, the more I DO NOT TRUST HIM! Part of the way he will pay for all these great socialist programs of his is to make dramatic cuts in our military. Ah hell, I don't need to tell you guys any of this.
I started a poll question and I'm curious to see how it comes out. Here's the Q... "Obama has been influenced his whole adult life by Socialists and Communists, so do you think he will govern the country as a free Republic, if elected?" Go here to vote.
FINALLY. McCain is hitting Obama right between the eyes regarding his voting of "present" and his total records on the partial birth abortion laws. WOW. And of course Obama is saying "not true, not true -- here are the facts...blah, blah, blah". It's not going to work, Obama.

I just am so sick illegal immigration did not come up...I knew it wouldn't, I posted about this for weeks, it is obvious they will stay away from this main issue that matters immensley to over 70% of people across this nation on both sides...
Sad this is done at the expense to all of us all for pandering to the voters that I don't want voting on our side in the first place...
Sad.

You know what I think McCain has accomplished tonight? I think he has created a whole new batch of material that he and Palin can use in their ads and stump speeches for the next 3 weeks. This has been good -- the problem is, unless you watched it live, the msm will treat it like it never happened.

I watched the whole thing at the gym while sweating on the eliptical cross trainer. I had to read the whole damned thing via subtitles. The moron at CNBC kept misspelling Ayers.
Anyhow, that smile on Obama's face really pissed me off but it was a joy to see McCain finally get some b@lls and bring up some of the Messiah's negative aspects. I also though Obama showed poor taste in actually bringing up the incident where some jerk at a rally "supposedly" said kill Obama. One jerk says something stupid and it is McCain's fault? Don't make sense.
Michelle Malkin has her liveblog of the debate up, plus an email sent out by the RNC right after, highlighting points that didn't get well-covered:
ACORN’s Political Action Committee Endorsed Barack Obama
For President. “[A]CORN’s political action committee endorsed Barack
Obama for President. … The endorsement reflects a belief that Obama –
who worked as a community organizer on the South Side of Chicago –
understands that change must come from the ground-up, as part of a
working coalition, rather than from position papers.” (Katrina Vanden

Barack Obama’s Campaign “Paid More Than $800,000″ To ACORN For
Get-Out-The Vote Efforts; The Campaign Originally “Misrepresented” The
Group’s Work To The FEC. “U.S. Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential
campaign paid more than $800,000 to an offshoot of the liberal
Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now for services the
Democrat’s campaign says it mistakenly misrepresented in federal
reports. An Obama spokesman said Federal Election Commission reports
would be amended to show Citizens Services Inc. — a subsidiary of ACORN
— worked in ‘get-out-the-vote’ projects, instead of activities such as
polling, advance work and staging major events as stated in FEC finance
reports filed during the primary.” (David M. Brown, “Obama To Amend

Barack Obama Directed Project Vote And Later Taught Classes For
“Future Leaders Identified By ACORN And The Centers For New Horizons.”
“In 1992 Obama took time off to direct Project Vote, the most
successful grass-roots voter-registration campaign in recent city
history. Credited with helping elect Carol Moseley-Braun to the U.S.
Senate, the registration drive, aimed primarily at African-Americans,
added an estimated 125,000 voters to the voter rolls–even more than
were registered during Harold Washington’s mayoral campaigns. ‘It’s a
power thing,’ said the brochures and radio commercials. … Obama
continues his organizing work largely through classes for future
leaders identified by ACORN and the Centers for New Horizons on the
south side.” (Hank De Zutter, Op-Ed, “What Makes Obama Run?” Chicago
Reader, 12/8/95)
· In 1992, Barack Obama Was Hired By ACORN To Run A Voter
Registration Effort. “Indeed, Mr. Obama has extensive connections with
the granddaddy of activist groups, Acorn (Association of Community
Organizations for Reform Now), which has gotten millions in government
grants for its low-income housing programs. In 1992, Acorn hired Mr.
Obama to run a voter registration effort. He later became a trainer for
the group, as well as its lawyer in election law cases. Acorn’s
political arm has endorsed Mr. Obama while its ‘voter education’ arm
has pledged to spend $35 million to register people this fall — despite
a history of vote fraud scandals that have led to guilty pleas by many
Acorn employees.” (John Fund, “Obama’s Liberal Shock Troops,” The Wall
Street Journal, 7/12/08)
Barack Obama Was Part Of Team Of Lawyers Who Represented ACORN In A
Suit Against The State Of Illinois. “Obama was part of a team of
attorneys who represented the Association of Community Organizations

1995 for failing to implement a federal law designed to make it easier
for the poor and others to register as voters.” (Mike Robinson, “Obama

Hell is freezing over. I am listening to the Couric's CBS "undecideds" panel. The black gentleman said he is leaning toward McCain. The Young college student is leaning McCain. The black woman commits to 0bama and the old lady leans to McCain. This says to me that McCain did extremely well.
These talking heads on Fox seem to think they know how we feel. WRONG! Oh hear comes Luntz. Everybody likes Obama but won't vote for him! Grreat.. I'm not voting for a great debator but a president. Yipppeee!!

Fox panel acted as if McCain didn't pass a debate exam. They wouldn't be happy now no matter what John did, I'm afraid. Good thing McCain doesn't seem to get discouraged. Dopey comments by all of them
Exactly. What the hell is wrong with the Fox News talking heads? Of course they include Bill Kristle who is still trying to count the number of angles on the head of that pin -- for perfection purposes, you know.

I don't understand these people at all. I thought McCain cleaned up tonight. Obama was off his game somewhat. These so-called experts act like Obama won hands down. No way. I also don't believe those clowns on FOX are really "undecideds". Did you hear some of those comments from those people? Those are not undecideds. And I don't know how someone who is undecided watches that debate and then picks Obama; I don't get it.
Just as I predicted earlier, it took CNN only 8 minutes to find a "McCain angry moment" to focus on. So far, though, they haven't made a single comment about the 90-minute Obama smirk.
And, CNN is praising Obama for his "best pro-choice answer" that will resonate with independent voters. Folks, this is the set-up for the upcoming CNN poll which -- I predict -- will show Obama as the overwhelming winner. Campaign over, according to the most trusted name in news.

....and now, at 10:47pm, the CNN "panel of voters" have spoken -- using a hand count, Obama wins, 14-10!!! And 3 of those "independent" voters have just made up their minds -- and all 3 have just decided to vote for Obama.

"...peace is the highest aspiration of the American People. We will negotiate for it, sacrifice for it, we will never surrender for it, now or ever." President Ronald Reagan, January 20, 1981
I don't know where he found the people in his focus group, but his conclusion that tonight was a good night for Obama is garbage...
"...peace is the highest aspiration of the American People. We will negotiate for it, sacrifice for it, we will never surrender for it, now or ever." President Ronald Reagan, January 20, 1981
I agree totally. That "undecided" focus group was bogus. Those people do not come across as impartial in any way. I simply do not see how every "undecided" person who changed their mind, went to the Obama side after that debate. Obama was weak tonight, not nearly as presidential as before. McCain came across far more presidential this time.
I don't think the guy in the back who talked about "guilt by association" was undecided either. He seemed pretty committed to me, and I don't think that commitment came from that debate.
Luntz has always been an over-weight over-rated POS since his msnbc days...why Fox keeps the piece of nothingness on is beyond me.
He infuriated me too...but he always has and didn't let me down tonight.
I caught as much as I could take on the other networks and their so called focus groups....these are pathetic people for the most part to begin with...and end with.
I took all I could take on any of the networks and their comments...it was like we weren't watching the same debate...it was the same with the Biden/Palin debate...
I knew it would be this way anyway..
McCain did just fine...and I am no McCain fan, if you caught any of my posts you know how I felt as I commented as this was going on...
Let them whimper, lie and whine...we know what was said, we know it is time to tear him down within seconds.
Nothing new.
"America isn't the problem...America is the solution." ~Rush Limbaugh
As for the after-debate commentary, I stayed with Fox...I can't handle the other networks. But even Fox sent me into orbit tonight. I don't know what Bill Kristol and Co. were drinking during the debate, but it seemed to have affected their appraisal of this debate.
I don't get it.
"...peace is the highest aspiration of the American People. We will negotiate for it, sacrifice for it, we will never surrender for it, now or ever." President Ronald Reagan, January 20, 1981
But hubby had the news on, and I heard a couple of clips...looks like the same cocky teenager Obama showed up again. McCain very respectfully called him "Senator Obama" while Barry referred to McCain as "John."
Since I think we feel about the same when it comes to McCain he did a really good job tonight...this is one that I didn't get sleepy with, or let it go in one ear and out the other for the most part...
I still loved the McCain's referring to Obama Senator Government and calling Biden and his ideas cockamamie...
(although the Sen Govt. was a slip, it was good one)
He did good...really.
Trust me.
I was really tickled when he also brought up the T-Shirt filthy words against Palin too.
"America isn't the problem...America is the solution." ~Rush Limbaugh
effete, deceitful elitist. How's that? We're all trying to figure out what debate the commentators saw that many of us clearly didn't see. Go figure.
"...peace is the highest aspiration of the American People. We will negotiate for it, sacrifice for it, we will never surrender for it, now or ever." President Ronald Reagan, January 20, 1981
Do you think that's less or more disrespectful as "that one"?
I don't see calling him John as being disrespectful. The one time I checked in, I thought McCain referred to his opponent as "Obama," but I could definitely be mistaken.
Chairman Maobams seems to be sweating tonight...McCain is hitting him with both barrels I'm loving it....OH HAPPY day the gloves have finally friggin came off THANK YOU JESUS....get that Socialist
How can they expect McCain to answer every single question the heads want in 90 freakin minutes? "All Obama had to do was sit it out???" I'm not thinking so. B.S. Charles BS!!!
That said, I do not agree with Charles Krauthammer. Normally I think he is a very insightful commentator, but tonight, no. Again I ask...Did we watch the same debate?
I am perplexed.
"...peace is the highest aspiration of the American People. We will negotiate for it, sacrifice for it, we will never surrender for it, now or ever." President Ronald Reagan, January 20, 1981
I know everyone just loves Krauthammer... Not me...I respect him, I love to read his views now and then, I respect him when he talks...but I only agree with him about 50/50...so worry not, you weren't the only one who saw the same debate...
I was surprised at Brit right after the debate though, not by his views, but just the way he said them... I posted something earlier about this...
Why Fox seems to be in the bag tonight for Obama is beyond me or I have lost my mind by what I just saw.
Now they are all saying what he should of said...
Oh well....

I know who I want to see next election cycle for a moderator.
A drill Sergeant from Paris Island.
Can you just see it, I CANT HEAR YOU..
JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION YOU MAGGOTT..
I AM GOING TO WALK AWAY AND YOU BETTER POLICE UP THIS GOVERNMENT BEFORE I COME BACK.
You don’t say yes sir to me, I am not a politician, I work for my money, you say yes Sergeant!
Obama, What is your major malfunction, numbnuts? Didn't Mommy and Daddy show you enough attention when you were a child? Oh that’s right you didn’t know you Daddy.
Well it would make it a little more fun to watch..
Ronald Reagan, 1962: I did not leave the Democratic party, the party left me.
Insert: your name, 2008, and the Republican party.
Funny! Yep, a drill Sergeant would be just the ticket!! My dad was career Army and you can bet my siblings and I walked a tight line! No screw-ups. No excuses!
I thought McCain kicked a little arse tonight. Sure he could have been better but he really won in my opinion.
Anyone who listened to Foxnews after the debate can no longer state that Fox is right of center. Will someone explain to me how Bill Crystal is conservative? He told Republicans that McCain is the guy because he's liberal. Now he is telling us he's a loser and constantly tells us he can't win. I wish that moderate arse would switch sides. With "friends" like him who needs Democrats?
Well, I'm rooting for McCain so I'm not impartial, but I thought McCain was clearly the winner of this debate. He was more presidential this time than Obama; he had more concrete details about his plan; he attacked Obama more directly. He won, plain and simple. I could not say that the first two debates.
I believe your evaluation of Bill Kristol is dead on. Kristol is not a Reagan conservative but a "centrist conservative", or as Rush Limabaugh calls these new type of conservatives such as Kristol, New York Times David Brooks, and The Weekly Standards Fred Barnes and others in the Republican unity movement, "the McCain-Lieberman Party."
They are the type of conservative who backed John McCain from the beginning because of his ability to "reach across the aisle." They felt that McCain was moderate enough to attract Democrats, moderates and independents.
Rush Limbaugh said it best as to why John McCain is behind in the polls due to his very moderate (some would call it centrist democrat) philosophy:
...."They said the era of Reagan is over. But notice the era of FDR is never over. Notice the era of LBJ is never over. But yet the era of Reagan is over and we've gotta redefine conservatism. I'm sorry, they got the exact campaign they wanted and now they don't like it. Well, what did they expect was going to happen when you have a campaign, a Republican campaign that is going to emphasize attracting Democrats and moderates in order to win?
...."Reagan moved the country to the right. Reagan didn't get Democrat votes by telling Democrats they're going to be comfortable as Democrats in the Republican Party 'cause we're going to deemphasize conservatism. Reagan made several million Democrats like conservatism."
---- "But the McCain campaign's strategery always was to play off the fact of how well he reaches across the aisle. Okay, so where are we? ... I don't see a lot of Democrats voting for McCain. I don't see it. I never did see it, but others said they thought it was going to happen. Where are they? Where are these Democrats voting for McCain?"
John McCain proudly stated during tonight's debate that he voted for Supreme Court Justices Breyer and Ginsburg. Sadly, this is our Republican nominee for President.
Spot on. While Mc Cain reaches around to kiss the A$$ of every “so called undecided” (how can you be undecided at this point, if you are, you are an idiot!!)
He ticks off the base, over and over and over and over. McCain/ Feingold, Mc Cain/ Kennedy, carbon tax, bail out, ANWR (his was the vote why we are not there now).. (well the list goes on forever)
The 2% that every one worries about is lost in the 10% that just tells themselves, “screw it, there is no difference between the two” Now I know there is, Obama will ruin this great nation, but to a lot of people that are not political junkies like us, will say that to them selves.
As far as these G.D. country club Republicans (the ones thatmake fun of Sara). They got the election they wanted, now that it is notturning out like they thought, they are looking for someone to pitch under thebus, because (they cant be wrong).
The country was begging for leadership, for the last 8years, someone that would step up to the bully platform and tell us what was going on. Someone that would defend his policies.
This country is begging for someone to ride into town, pitch out the ear marks, build the G.D. fence, cut taxes, drill the hell out of oil, build more refineries, strong defense, give us a flat or fair tax, cut foreign aid, pro gun, clamp down on companies using illegal help, MAKE ELECTION DAY APRIL 16TH, cut entitlements way back.
The blue bloods got what they wanted so not that is not working they are pointing their guns not at them selves but at the only breath of fresh air in this whole election, Sara.
Just one question, when did Mc Cain poll numbers take off? When the base was energized.
Ronald Reagan, 1962: I did not leave the Democratic party, the party left me.
Insert: your name, 2008, and the Republican party.
In the midst of the banking/housing/credit fiasco the other MAIN contributing factor to our economic struggles has been lost in the wash. Fuel Prices... how could McCain not hammer Obama on this!?! There's a reason the oil companies aren't exploring the areas they were able to lease under the moratorium... there's little or nothing there.
Under an Obama, Pelosi, Reid administration we can say farewell to any new offshore drilling. No nuclear, no coal. Get ready for an energy policy direct from the global warming PAC's. We're not going to have any viable new energy solutions within ten years and we're one world event from paying $8/gallon. Wait till you see the economy then...
"...peace is the highest aspiration of the American People. We will negotiate for it, sacrifice for it, we will never surrender for it, now or ever." President Ronald Reagan, January 20, 1981
I want totknow did GS give BHO the win? McCain was looking well tonight fresh rested and ready to do some damage.BHO was tired and stumbled, lies were evident, not that it matters much. ABC must have given him just a A instead of the A+.
The 'heads' have over analyzed this to death. Gut instinct takes the day and McCain touched that hands down. Kristol go the hell home. This totally ticks me off. And I'm a big Fox fan.
Are they trying to get an Obama interview? That was an idiotic scene. They are looking at puffy "zingers" to determine a winner. Why not talk about the content?
Tonight like the 3 previous debates, we have found that John S. McCain's real name is John W. A. McCain.
The W. A. stand for Whoop Ass.
Time
after time viewers witnessed Barack Obama surrender to John McCain's
intelligence, experience, manhood and with a follow up from Sen. Obama,
"Sen. McCain is right".
Viewers were startled to learn that
Barack Obama does not know how to use a pen, tear a piece of paper and
mail a letter like his good friend, nation rapist, Warren Buffett, as
both of them want to pay more in taxes they always say, and for some
reason they just can't seem to write that check out.
So to assist
Sen. Obama, here is what you do Barry to pay more in taxes as there are
no laws against you freely doing it. You don't need to pass laws
stealing money from Americans who pay more than enough in taxes now.
You can indeed with Warren Buffett pay more in taxes.
You write a check out Sen. Obama with a pen. In the PAY TO, you write United States Treasury.
Warren
Buffett can list the 31 billion he looted from poor people last year
and you can as you want people to pay 60% in taxes write in your check,
$65,000.
You sign it Barack Obama. Then for the real task, you pull on the edge of the check upward and it tears loose.
Address an envelope to:
United States Treasury
Washington, DC
Put your check in, put a stamp on the upper right hand corner and seal it up. Believe it or not the Post Office will deliver it.
It
is much easier Sen. Obama than not providing health care for disabled
children or pulling them out of their mother's womb, sucking their
brains out in infanticide which you voted for and support.
Sen.
Obama, it seems your two biggest malevolent mentors are being cast
aside like garbage. You act like you don't know William Ayers the
voyeur rapist of a Jewish girl which Politico stated in an article that
Bill Ayers babysat your children and once again tonight you attacked
education which Teddy Kennedy wrote the entire bill on just a few years
ago.
Teddy does deserve a whole lot better treatment Sen. Obama than
bashing him about in every agreement session you have with John McCain.
Barack
Obama fled from is own policies all night and even with Bob Schieffer
constantly trying to interrupt John McCain, he still couldn't admit to
anything beyond raising taxes and driving American jobs further
offshore by taxing those businesses more.
Obama's most disgusting
moments beyond the butchery of children was to not repudiate racism in
his campaign, sexism in his campaign using the vulgar C word for Gov.
Palin and to lie to the American public that he is not funding voter
fraud destroying the free election process in the United States.
Obama's programming just does not hold up and if people will notice in what was quoted before:
Look
Barack Obama's hair color which was black when this started. It was
black going into August. Suddenly during the first debate one noticed
it was turning white. It continues to turn white in each encounter in
being trounced by John McCain.
Obama has gone from 47 to 57 in 3 weeks. At that rate, he is going to be 197 years old by December 31st, 2009.
Barack Obama surrendered tonight completely to John McCain. That is the story.
agtG 234
PS: Cindy McCain really does not like Mr. and Mrs. Obama by her body language.
Michelle Obama in her demeanor which is a perfect word is exhibits pure racism in her demeanor toward the McCains.
If you think McCain opened a can of "whoop ass" in any one of the debates, you clearly emptied a few too many cans of your favorite alcoholic beverage, lol. He did ok, but there was no can of whoop ass opened. If it was, the contents must have gone out of date.
Obama's Economic plan: more taxes, more spending, more regulation. Prosperity here we come.
He smirked more that once...he ate McCain's dust...I don't care wht the msm says.
We all knew what to expect when it came to them, and if McCain was awful, I would be the first to say, but he wasn't...simple as that.
The Fox crap afterwards made me furious...and sick, and it won't be forgotten by me either....Luntz I am used to, he has always been an over-rated empty piece of waste and space as far as I am concerned .. but the rest of them are not going to be forgotten either, then again, I've never been overly impressed by them either over the last twenty years or so....just very disappointed in how they presented the post-debate.
"America isn't the problem...America is the solution." ~Rush Limbaugh
I didn't see the debate, so I have no idea how it turned out. Do you think the Fox staff was being disingenuous or really thought that Obama was better?
Did you not read my post and comprehend what I said...read all of the others I have here.
You know full well by now I am no McCain fan, I wouldn't say anything about McCain in the positive unless it was the truth in my eyes.
I have a really good idea...watch the debate replays and judge for yourself...okay...and get back to me then...although I can imagine what you will say anyway...so forget about that.
I'm not in the mood for your games tonight, pick someone else who wants to play with you.
"America isn't the problem...America is the solution." ~Rush Limbaugh
I listened on the radio and did not see it on tv. I thought McCain did well and definitely won. The announcers gave the debate to Senator Guvmint and compared him to how great Kennedy looked and did against Nixon. Tell me how Obama appeared to you.
Bill Kristol in particular, is in a hurry to do an autopsy on the McCain campaign. He needs to defend his column earlier this week where he basically threw the whole McCain campaign under the bus. Plus, he may feel a need to keep his NYTimes gig.
Fred Barnes seems to be conceding defeat as well.
The real surprise was Charles Krauthammer throwing in the towel. He's Fox's best conservative commentator and usually has better insight than the others. I was disappointed in him.
This was by far the best debate and I thought McCain won handily. Obama was on defense the whole time. Also, Bob Schieffer did a good job of just getting out of their way and letting the candidates go at it.
Plus bob Schieffer did a real good job, this whole debate was such a surprise...I am so glad I watched this, and I was dreading it.
McCain knew he had to fight for his life tonight...and that he did...
Only thing that bugged me was not a mention of illegal immigration, although I knew there wouldn't be...and am sickened by this omission constantly.
So were some that called in to C-Span tonight.
I have posted as to the reasons why, it is the worst thing that has been done to us by these Senators that are running for President...and the moderators, plus of course all of the msm...oh well, I can't change that.
They pretend like this isn't a matter to us out here or a major issue.
Plus"America isn't the problem...America is the solution." ~Rush Limbaugh
In 2007, immigration was a huge issue. In 2008, it is not brought up even once in 4 debates? That's very strange.
One other thing about Fox: didn't Obama even take a swipe at Fox during the debate? And then these guys on Fox (except Hannity) act like a bunch of whipped dogs in the post-debate discussion? They were pathetic.
I am familiar with his repulsive expressions so your description is more than sufficient. I grew up in the wonderful age of radio and find that I am much more productive since I got rid of my tv.
I would have expected that tripe from Juan Williams or Mort Kondracke, but as for the rest, I don't know. Maybe they've made up their minds that the race is over? Who knows.
Well, that's it for me...
Night all...
"...peace is the highest aspiration of the American People. We will negotiate for it, sacrifice for it, we will never surrender for it, now or ever." President Ronald Reagan, January 20, 1981
I used to always watch Brit Humes just because of the insights on his panels at the end. Now, I don't even bother to watch Humes show. I can't stand the liberal viewpoints -- starting with Juan and Mort, but now echoed by all the rest. These people don't know what conservative principles are about -- and what conservatives have to do to survive. They still think a Republican primary is in play here, not a general election. Forget it -- McCain is the candidate, and everyone in the msm is tearing him down. And what do the "conservatives" do? Right -- continue to look for the perfection that isn't there.
Get McCain elected, or else we are going to be knee-deep in sh** the next 4 - 8 years. What about that don't these people understand?

"And what do the "conservatives" do? Right -- continue to look for the perfection that isn't there."
I TOTALLY AGREE !!!!
At the 11th hour, conservatives -- and many NB'ers here, I might add -- absurdly expect McCain to suddenly transform into Super Republican. He's NOT. He's what this party has, and we have to stop knocking him.
He stepped it up two or three notches last night, and we can't expect more than that. They want 5 or 10 notches, and not only will that never happen it probably would backfire on the campaign anyway, at this stage.
The Strength of the retorts will give measure of the defeat of the Messiah.
McCain was no Palin, but his Sincerity was a winner, and his lack of Polish endeared the Joe Plumber's opinion of where his vote needs to go.
McCain won on Details and Substance of his Answers, even as his occaisional stumble Trundled through the Debate to Deliver The Coup de Gras as he labeled SENATOR GOVERNMENT with His new CB Handle.
The American people have Enough Information to Judge and enough time to Confirm . . as the ACORN falls on the head of the un suspecting loser.
Campbell Brown (NBC Today show fluff anchor who is SERIOUS NOW) at CNN tossed out a 58% Obama victory....who the hell are they asking??? Did they poll the newsroom??? Is that where these "undecided" CNN people come from??? I watched the whole thing on TiVo(so I didnt miss any) and McCain mopped the floor with Obamas smug horse toothed jackass face.....he hit him on EVERY SINGLE flaw in his platform.....
Just goes to show ya..buy the media....and even if you're a douchebag...you're the winner.
And Drudge has McCain up 70% - AOL has been giving McCain the edge too. I'm telling you folks. I evaluate people allll day long and this was bad for 0bama. He may have had some kind of "points" as the head say.. but McCain delivered to the heart. America HEARD McCain and they SAW Obama. Big difference. Obama is.. garbage in and garbage out.
At least they admitted the numbers were skewed due to an oversampling of Dems. CNN's panel is a joke. THough I was suurprised on MSNBC that Andrea Mitchel seemed to say McCain won on points.
McCain has been closing in the tracking polls for the last week, so who really won the debate? It will be back within the margin of error within 10 days, with the exception of the bogus push polls like those done by WAPO & NYT.
"I drink a great deal. I sleep a little, and I smoke cigar after cigar. That is why I am in two-hundred-percent form."

Mc Cain did well .... but I sure wish he was quicker on his feet like Guliani is ... that former prosecutor would have have taken O man apart he would have taken his political BS speak stuffed it down Oman's throat pulled it out his arse then shoved it back down his throat and then said "would you like to rethink what you just said" ... Mc Cain had chances to really nail O man but he only went so far because despite his temper or maybe because of it he doesnt go as far as he should ... I have a bad temper and know full well that I am capable of ripping a person to bits when I am angry so I end up not going for the jugular for fear of what fury I will unleash
Several times when he had the opportunity to hit a few home runs, he went respectful and decided to bunt instead.
Although he brought up Ayers and ACORN he never followed through allowing Obama to tap dance around both subjects that would have made Fred Astaire proud.
On FOX, as usual, they had Frank Luntz and a group of ‘undecided’ voters pressing their magic buttons giving a real-time indication of how they felt about what was being said second-by-second.
To me this process is ludicrous because he's polling people who, with just three weeks left till the election, still haven’t made a decision even after the election process has been going on for a year and a half, and who will finally make their decision not based on substance, but who looks, feels, and sounds good. That is, after all, the history of undecided voters.
It was not a good night for McCain because he didn’t do what he had to do.
There was no proverbial ‘tingle’ up my leg tonight.
Have you ever wanted to finish a sentence for somebody? When McCain was talking about health insurance, he came this " " close to hitting the most important aspect of his health plan. He rattled off several fine points, this ability and that ability, and I'm thinking c'mon say it:
PORTABILITY!!!
BHO wants you tied to somebody else for your health insurance, the government, the union, an employer. McCain wants to exchange the tax incentive for employer health care with a tax incentive to buy your own health insurance that you can take from job to job, from state to state, putting you in control, instead of creating more government control.
Union mandated employer health care has all but destroyed the domestic auto industry, and now we're supposed to give it a try on a national scale?
Disconnecting the consumer from the payment is a recipe for disaster.
The auto companies received a finite value of labor in exchange for the promise to pay an infinite amount of medical costs for a nearly infinite amount of time. Covered employees figured sure, let's blow $16 million of GM's money on Viagara in one year, hey, it's not our money. But guess what, sooner or later those disconnected costs kill the golden goose.
Buy your own policy, use it like the costs will affect you, take it wherever you go.
I learned all I needed to know about socialized medicine from my liberal Canadian friend who got sick in Dallas, "This is really cool, no waiting for days, walk in to the quickie med across from the hotel, pay $75, get looked at and get a perscription, and you're done, You guys don't know how good you have it (in the U.S.)."
All the talking heads, Fox or others, relate to Polished performers like BHO. They don't feel our Pain.
It was McCains faltering profile and performance that FOX judged
as Avg Americans were Laser Focused beyond the Fox event Horizon . .where the Gravity of the situation is more Personable and Deadly to Avg "Joes".
Thus the Disparity of views. The Republican Revolution will not be Televised
I remember back in the old days watching a post speech analysis of a President Reagan speech on cutting taxes where the reporter went to a homeless person and ask him what cutting government revenue would do to him and did he agree with the President's plan. (he didn't)
Ah yes...the good old days...I had forgot about that spin for the era with the homeless ect, can't forget the poor eating cat-food either... you have me chuckling...nothing much has changed with propaganda for agenda...just more of it...times ten now with the network/cable talking heads with the exception of some are completely insane, Matthews/Olbie for example, throw in Maddow...
Anyway...you left me with a smile..I've got an early morning so I'm hitting the sack...
Night all...
"America isn't the problem...America is the solution." ~Rush Limbaugh
..for McCain, and on the whole a really bad night for Obama.
I was watching a CBS "undecided voter" group with Katie Couric.
When an African American man, seemingly in his mid 40's said that this debate had made him lean more in the direction of McCain I thought her face was going to melt.
(Maybe this guy is a secret Republican plant operating under the code name "AfroNobama". You never know.)
There was not a single knockout from McCain, but he got enough nice sound bites in that the declaration of Obama as "the winner" by the usual suspects could back fire and drive independent voters back toward McCain.
Now everyone knows that McCain doesn't have Sarah Palin's raw political charm and debating fire, but he did steal a few pages from her playbook:
"Joe the Plumber" was one of them. Also "If you want to run against Bush you should have run 4 years ago."
I also liked the way McCain handled the Veep Question. Schieffer obviously threw that question up as a soft ball for Obama but he was so dour about his comments regarding Biden's qualifications to be President that he left an opening. McCain's genuine delight in his veep choice turned the question against both Schieffer and Obama. When Schieffer tried to throw Obama a life line and ask with his even more grave face...
"Is she qualified to be president?"
Obama blew the soft ball and said...
"Well she obviously is a woman with a great deal of political talent."
Not exactly what Schieffer wanted to achive was it?
Hey MexNo - I saw this, too. I was floored by the black guy saying he was leaning McCain. His facial expressions said something to me. He truly looked thoughtful in his responses and his tone of voice seemed to indicate the same. The other thing I noticed was the young man - looked to be about 25 and possibly Hispanic - he was also leaning McCain. These are supposed to be two groups that 0bama is counting on and he lost these two. Regarding Palin, if 0bama had said she wasn't, McCain could have crucified him with the lack of executive experience, if he would have the guts to do so. I think you are right, though. Shieffer was expecting this to be an easy one for 0bama.
Well good ol Georgie at ABC called it for his buddy Barry( whoda thunk it) he's an "insider" dont ya know...hes Sam Seaborn from the west wing...hes gotta know a good speech when he hears(I mean writes) one....I can't possibly understand how anyone in their right minds(of course its a left media) would give it to Chairman Maobama on points...he just sat there horse toothed jackass grin...looking "elite"
1. On Veep selection: "If this election is truly about 'Change', take a look at Senator Biden, take a look at Gov. Palin, and tell me which ticket is honest about bringing change to Washington!"
2. On the economy: "I'm a Capitalist. He's a Socialist. Go vote."
3. On ACORN: "If you had no association with ACORN, then why did you give them $800K? Are you really THAT devoted to spreading the wealth around that you would give a random group that much money?"
4. On Ayers: "Okay, Senator Obama, let's say I accept your insistence that you did not launch your political career in William Ayers' living room. What, exactly, WERE you there for?"
5. On lying: "Senator Obama, were you ever a member of a Socialist group?"
6. In general: "Senator Obama, can you make public your birth certificate? Tomorrow, please?"
7. On the completely assinine question about whether they thought their Veep selection was qualified: "Yes."
8. If the question was pushed further: "I know that Governor Palin is abundantly more qualified than 'That One'."
I heard none of this, of course. But I still felt like McCain won the debate.
About the talking heads on FOX as well as others of MSM they all apear to me to be frustrated wanna be politicians. They get paid to critique every little thing and get away with it no questions asked. Post debates they get to play Monday morning quarterback with each other. Can you really respect someone who has been doing this type of work for 40+ years?
The whole FOX team tonight was just way off kilter and listing to the left. The MSM are inbred and predictable.

The most interesting part of the debate was....
October 15, 2008 - 23:07 ET by wdhorningIt was that Obama was wearing a red striped tie, which is the traditional color for Republican states, and McCain was wearing a blue striped tie, the traditional color for Democrat states.

Why, NB Staff?
October 15, 2008 - 21:23 ET by stratmanDear NB Staff:
While I'm at it... get rid of the hokey chat too.

October 16, 2008 - 00:14 ET by Rush FanI believe your evaluation of Bill Kristol is dead on.
---------------------------------------------------------------
John McCain proudly stated during tonight's debate that he voted for Supreme Court Justices Breyer and Ginsburg.

We're not going to have any viable new energy solutions within ten years and we're one world event from paying $8/gallon. Wait till you see the economy then...

Obama Surrenders to McCain
October 15, 2008 - 23:22 ET by Lame CherryTonight like the 3 previous debates, we have found that John S.

October 16, 2008 - 00:21 ET by pocomocoMcCain was not a ‘closer’ tonight.
McCain Missed Big Opprtunity
October 16, 2008 - 00:20 ET by Junk Science SkepticHave you ever wanted to finish a sentence for somebody?

Not too bad a night...
October 16, 2008 - 02:21 ET by MexNobama..for McCain, and on the whole a really bad night for Obama.

The other thing I noticed was the young man - looked to be about 25 and possibly Hispanic - he was also leaning McCain. These are supposed to be two groups that 0bama is counting on and he lost these two. Regarding Palin, if 0bama had said she wasn't, McCain could have crucified him with the lack of executive experience, if he would have the guts to do so. I think you are right, though. Shieffer was expecting this to be an easy one for 0bama.

What I hoped to hear:
October 16, 2008 - 02:02 ET by TeamcheeserFrom McCain:

NO Obama Not now or ever
