Mo Dowd's Convention Column
August 27, 2008 - 09:46 ET by GothampcYou have to hand it to Mo Dowd. When she gets it right, she gets it right.
Quote from a Hillary supporter: “I wonder if Michelle would give the Queen one of her little knuckle punches?”

Shockingly enough, prohibition doesn't seem to work all that well absent the well-funded (often by taxpayers...) PR effort.

I thought Hillary accomplished exactly what Hillary wanted to. To wit: Wrong choice, times two you idiots!
I can't wait to see what the Big Mouth has to say tonight...since B. Hussein apparently caved and let Bill Clinton have his way. Speaking of which, if Barry caves to Bill Clinton, what on earth will he do with Putin? I'm thinking it'll be a Chrissy Matthews tingly leg moment, only it won't be tingling Obama feels. Just sayin'.

August 27, 2008 - 09:56 ET by Prester John... of the dreaded "surprisingly good" economic news:
U.S. July durable goods orders rise surprising 1.3%
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Orders for U.S.-made durable goods surged in July, rising 1.3% on strong transportation equipment demand, the Commerce Department reported Wednesday. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch were looking for a gain in orders of 0.2%. Excluding transportation goods, orders rose 0.7%. New orders for durable goods in June were revised to a gain of 1.3% from a prior estimate of 0.8%. For July, shipments of manufactured goods rose 2.5%, following a gain of 0.9% in the prior month. Both inventories and unfilled orders in July rose 0.8%.

Obama pulls ads from rock radio website
August 27, 2008 - 09:57 ET by nkviking75From the radio industry website AllAccess.com (registration required) on their "Net News" page:
BARACK OBAMA, THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE and "Car Wash Babes"? CLICKZ.COM reports they may not seem a likely grouping, but YESTERDAY, ads paid for by the DNC and the ILLINOIS Senator's presidential campaign showed up on an array of local CLEAR CHANNEL rock radio station Web sites featuring content some would consider inappropriate for a radio station, much less a presidential campaign.
MACON, GEORGIA's Q106.FM and HARRISONBURG, VIRGINIA'S 98ROCKME.COM are among several CLEAR CHANNEL station sites that, as of YESTERDAY afternoon, were running the new ads.
At least a portion of the ads were placed by local media firm CENTRO, which has scored upwards of $100,000 from the OBAMA campaign this year to put towards local Web buys. The company places local online advertising for national advertisers.
"The content on these sites is clearly objectionable and the ads should not have been displayed there," CENTRO CEO SHAWN RIEGSECKER told CLICKZ NEWS. "As soon as we were alerted to this issue, we removed the ads immediately. The DNC and OBAMA FOR AMERICA maintain very high editorial and content standards of where their advertising is displayed and we should not have placed an ad there."

the thought that a group of people who have nothing decent to say about this country wants to run it is as shocking as it is pathetic ... and un-american.
the master plan seems to be trying to convince americans that their country is so bad that only they can save them ... in other words a complete sham. and there is a underlying sentiment (in my opinion) that if obama isn't elected ... america will "still be mired in racism".
my question is whether or not most voters see the ruse ... because, like kerry in 04, there is no plan being brought forward to back up all this "change" being promised. and i think chosing a running mate who has spent most of his adult life a senator confirms that "change" is a hollow statement ... but, more importantly, that obama knows he can't be elected president on his own merit.
... on obama's weak, very weak, rebuttle of the william ayers ad (where his defense is that he was only 8 years old when ayers did his dirty work) ... try this: insert the name of any infamous person who committed a vile act before you turned 10 and imagine defending a relationship with them as an adult ... i'll go first:

DNC Convention Observation
August 27, 2008 - 10:15 ET by GothampcLast night I was watching the convention on C-Span because they show it without commentators.
Some of the speeches were given by regular citizens and some by politicians.
What I noticed is that every regular citizen had a sad tale to tell and a gripe: "I had to wait for medical care" "I wasn't getting paid what men were gettting paid" "I can't afford my taxes".
But all the politicians were getting up and saying "America is great. Only in America can someone like me, born in a shack, rise to the highest success".
The DNC doesn't put on any regular citizens that say: "America is great. I'm proud of my country. Only in America could there be a success story like mine." Only the politicians get to say that.

Mr. "New kind of Politics"
August 27, 2008 - 10:37 ET by motherbeltMr. "New kind of Politics" is going to have to scrap some of his own "old style" politics...the Chicago style that got him elected in Illinois.
I came across this at Neal Boortz's blog; he was talking about Obama's attempt to have that Ayers ad stopped:
Now might be a good time to remind you how Obama won his first run for the Illinois State Senate. He didn't win by convincing the voters that he was the better candidate. He won by sending workers to the elections office to pour [sic] over petitions until he managed to get his opposition removed from the ballot. Now he's trying to use the U.S. legal system to keep people from running perfectly legitimate advertisements opposing his candidacy. There's really not much evidence that Obama is a fan of the electoral process. He would rather use a legal process to gain power.
So I did some searching and found this at CNN.com
I wonder how many people are aware that he won his first election, not by votes, but by contesting all his opponents and having them removed from the ballot for technicalities? So he ran unopposed.
The supposed upside? Apparently, according to one source "he wasn't happy" about doing it.
But hey, you do what you gotta do!
Of course, he wouldn't do anything like trying to contest ballots etc. this time, would he?

If a tree falls?
August 27, 2008 - 10:48 ET by Copperhead RidgeI missed the Democrat National Circus last night. A tree fell on the powerlines leading to my house. It pulled the lines down and broke a utility pole. We were completely out of touch with the outside world last night except for a L.L. Bean crank radio. No phones (too far in the sticks to get cell phone reception). No television. No internet.
I can't think of a better time to be cut off like that. Instead of watching Billary on the t.v., we sat out under the stars.
We just got the pole replaced and power restored, so I'm just coming up to speed on Hillary's speech. Thank The Obama that I'm not going to have to miss His speech, unless another tree falls.
