For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: Catharsis or Chaos?

The Clinton and Obama camps agreed to limit Wednesday's divisive nominating process for president, allowing some states to cast votes for both Obama and Clinton before ending the roll call in an acclamation for the Illinois senator. In one scenario, Clinton herself would cut off the voting and urge the unanimous nomination of Obama, according to Democratic officials involved in the negotiations. They discussed the deal on condition of anonymity while final details were being worked out. But some Clinton delegates said they were not interested in a compromise, raising the prospect of floor demonstrations that would underscore the split between Obama and Clinton Democrats.

What's going to happen in Denver the next couple of days?

Talk about deflating

Talk about deflating balloons.  This hot-air balloon of a candidate will turn out to be a bubble-gum bubble that busts all over the DNC's face.

Who's manipulating silver & gold (as media & regulators snooze)?

This guy's numbers say "it's the Fed." And for anyone who was looking for reasons why the US dollar has been showing suspicious strength lately despite the Fed Chairman's own words and the fundamental situation, well, look to the east for the real answer...And now, justifiably worried, they're warning us about the terms of the coming Fannie/Freddie socialist bailout.

What we have here is a total debacle, a scripted peice of nonsense that even the party faithful wont buy into.  Why are they even doing it, why not have an honest vote and see where it lands.  Of course we are talking about the Democrats and they are lower than whale poop.  I refuse to watch any of the conventions, well might watch the mesaih's coronation to see if he gets wacked.  But I feel one of the reasons peopel are so apethetic is there is no drama and nothing to stir passions about.

Reminds me of teh old time political machines, only there no competing machines in teh party.

Obama Won the Dem Battle; Hillary Will Win the Dem War

Hillary desperately wants to be POTUS.  However, she also knows that whatever she does now will color her future.  She must play nice with Obama in case he gets elected.  (Would she settle for a Supreme Court Justice position?)  At the convention, she has her supporters give a big show and do the roll call so that she can make the point that many in the party prefer her.  This is ammunition for future battles.  I think she's hoping that McCain will win and she can rerun in 2012.

My vote is that there will

My vote is that there will be Chaos. If the Clintons do have some kind of "O-bomb" they've been hording, then today and/or tonight is the optimal time for release. The fact that the Clintons have really never given up on the campaign tells me there is something up their collective sleeve...I could be wrong and this is just MHO, it's just that something doesn't smell quite right about this.

Gas Receipts

One of the best ways we can show U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) just how hard working families and small businesses have been hit by high gas prices is by giving the Speaker your gasoline receipts.  I would like you to mail me your gas receipts along with a brief explanation of how you've been impacted.  Although my Republican colleagues and I have protested the Speaker's decision to send the U.S. House of Representatives on a five-week break instead of staying in D.C. to solve our energy crisis, it's become clear that she has no plans to do so.  When we return in September, I will present your gas receipts to the Speaker.

Mail your receipts here:

If these dumbasses were going to assassinate a presidential candidate, you’d think they might be a bit smarter about doing it? I hear one of them had a small swastika tattoo. Wait a minute. Damn that Bush Economy! The tax cuts did not work! Tax cuts for the rich! Big Oil! Big oil!

It's time for Fun with Headlines! Headline: Region loses 16,000 jobs from June to July. Damn that Bush Economy! But, when you read the article, you find: The job losses were "almost entirely" caused by the end of the school year, when teachers, school bus drivers and other education-related positions hibernate for summer, said Lauren Nimal, a jobs analyst for state agency. The education sector accounted for about 15,700 of the jobs lost…Read even further down, and you discover this gem: The seven-county region's 1.16 million jobs last month were still 4,300 more than it had in July 2007.

Speaking of the evil Chimpy McHitler, only true evil would conspire to flood the desert!

"Yea -- screw the French Lords! Got them back for the Battle of Hastings in 1066.

One of the good things about the Battle of Hastings, is that Norman Law started to influence life in England, and I believe without William the Conquerer winning at Hastings, we probably never would have had the Magna Carta.  Look at the significance of the Magna Carta from England and how it has influenced future governments like the US and it is extremly important.

Also, I think that it may have rained the night the British burned down the White House, or else DC would have suffered much worse.  However, the War of 1812 did give us our National Anthem, and the Battle of New Orleans instills a great deal of pride in Americans.  I have to admit I don't know as much about that war as most other conflicts.  Some people think it was a tie, some think the US lost and some say the US won.

MUSICAL HIGHLIGHTS OF 2008 DEMOCRAT CONVENTION

2008 Democrat National Convention Organizing Committee

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 25, 2008

While the 2008 Democrat convention will feature stirring speeches by party luminaries, the attendees and the TV audience will also be entertained by the musical talents of some of the thought leaders of the party. Below is a partial list of the planned musical entertainment - watch every single second of the convention to avoid missing any of it!

  • Former Senator John "The Millworker's Son" Edwards will wow the crowd with the ballad, "My Cheating Heart." A duet of "The Ballad of Lizzie and Johnny" was planned with his lovely wife Liz, but she had some last minute family issues that kept her from attending.
  • House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will get the house smiling with her Global Warming theme song, "A Bicycle Built for You and a Limousine Just for Me."
  • Former Vice President Al Gore will remind everyone that climate change is serious business as he leads the crowd in an ancient Aztec chant to the Sun God begging him to spare sinful humans. Note: the virgin sacrifice was canceled due to shortages.
  • Mayor Kwame "Pimp Daddy" Kilpatrick of Detroit will get the crowd jumping with his rendition of "Jailhouse Rock" backed by the famous Mayor's Mansion Strippers (except for the one that died mysteriously, of course).
  • Former Governor Don "Crazy Pants" Siegleman of Georgia is out on bail, so he will be able to deliver his soulful rendition of "Working on a Chain Gang." Also be sure to catch the wailing harmonica on Don's "Karl Rove is Out to Get Me Blues."
  • Crowd favorite Ted Kennedy will be sure to leave you chortling over his "Little Brown Jug (How I Love Thee)." Unfortunately, backup singers Mary Jo and Joan weren't able to attend because of prior commitments.
  • Former President Bill "Registered Sex Offender" Clinton will bring back the good old days with "Devil with the Blue Dress On" and a soulful rendition of "Women I Have Known and Raped Before."
  • Of course, the convention would not be complete without Senator Hillary Clinton delivering her stirring "I Am Woman (Hear Me Roar)" which she will late on whatever night she can be scheduled. Note from DNC Chairman Howard Dean: Clinton delegates are reminded of the need for them to vote on all ballots in their special venue in Casper, Wyoming, just a short walk from the convention hall.

Finally, the two stellar attractions:

  • Michelle Obama plans to get your fingers snapping and toes tapping with her covers of "Get Back Honky Cat" and "Up Against The Wall, Redneck Mother" before she leads the crowd in "Kumbaya" which won't leave a dry eye in the house. Then she will have you on your feet with a clenched fist salute as she leads the singing of "The Internationale." You go, girl!

If pro is the opposite of con what is the opposite of progress? Congress!

RNC vs DNC - the MSM?

I'm curious as to how the media will cover the RNC, if at all. MSM headlines, tickers, and talking points will probably be flooded with statements like this:

"More of the same," "Failed Republican strategies too little too late," "A fairly boring convention, not nearly as much spice as the Democratic hullabaloo," "No word on Bush's failed policies," "Curious lack of bipartisanship at Republican convention," "Unremarkable lineup of speakers," "Raucous crowd of Democratic posters rock the Republican convention," "Protesters attempt citizen's arrest of Karl Rove at convention - used 'crimes against humanity' as rationale," "Political analysts say Republican talking points 'prehistoric in post-modern, post-racial era'," "Abortion, gay rights stances mostly unchanged," "Eight years after 9/11, still no Osama Bin Laden," "TIME rates quality of Democratic speeches 83%; Republican speeches 32%," "Person of the Year: Che Guevara."
