For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: Catharsis or Chaos?
The Clinton and Obama camps agreed to limit Wednesday's divisive nominating process for president, allowing some states to cast votes for both Obama and Clinton before ending the roll call in an acclamation for the Illinois senator. In one scenario, Clinton herself would cut off the voting and urge the unanimous nomination of Obama, according to Democratic officials involved in the negotiations. They discussed the deal on condition of anonymity while final details were being worked out. But some Clinton delegates said they were not interested in a compromise, raising the prospect of floor demonstrations that would underscore the split between Obama and Clinton Democrats.

August 26, 2008 - 10:41 ET by Dan The Man 2What we have here is a total debacle, a scripted peice of nonsense that even the party faithful wont buy into. Why are they even doing it, why not have an honest vote and see where it lands. Of course we are talking about the Democrats and they are lower than whale poop. I refuse to watch any of the conventions, well might watch the mesaih's coronation to see if he gets wacked. But I feel one of the reasons peopel are so apethetic is there is no drama and nothing to stir passions about.

Obama Won the Dem Battle; Hillary Will Win the Dem War
August 26, 2008 - 10:48 ET by GothampcHillary desperately wants to be POTUS. However, she also knows that whatever she does now will color her future. She must play nice with Obama in case he gets elected. (Would she settle for a Supreme Court Justice position?) At the convention, she has her supporters give a big show and do the roll call so that she can make the point that many in the party prefer her. This is ammunition for future battles. I think she's hoping that McCain will win and she can rerun in 2012.

If the Clintons do have some kind of "O-bomb" they've been hording, then today and/or tonight is the optimal time for release. The fact that the Clintons have really never given up on the campaign tells me there is something up their collective sleeve...I could be wrong and this is just MHO, it's just that something doesn't smell quite right about this.

Gas Receipts
One of the best ways we can show U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) just how hard working families and small businesses have been hit by high gas prices is by giving the Speaker your gasoline receipts. I would like you to mail me your gas receipts along with a brief explanation of how you've been impacted. Although my Republican colleagues and I have protested the Speaker's decision to send the U.S. House of Representatives on a five-week break instead of staying in D.C. to solve our energy crisis, it's become clear that she has no plans to do so. When we return in September, I will present your gas receipts to the Speaker.

Damn that Bush Economy! The tax cuts did not work! Tax cuts for the rich! Big Oil! Big oil!
It's time for Fun with Headlines! Headline: Region loses 16,000 jobs from June to July. Damn that Bush Economy! But, when you read the article, you find: The job losses were "almost entirely" caused by the end of the school year, when teachers, school bus drivers and other education-related positions hibernate for summer, said Lauren Nimal, a jobs analyst for state agency. The education sector accounted for about 15,700 of the jobs lost…Read even further down, and you discover this gem: The seven-county region's 1.16 million jobs last month were still 4,300 more than it had in July 2007.

One of the good things about the Battle of Hastings, is that Norman Law started to influence life in England, and I believe without William the Conquerer winning at Hastings, we probably never would have had the Magna Carta. Look at the significance of the Magna Carta from England and how it has influenced future governments like the US and it is extremly important.

Also, I think that it may have rained the night the British burned down the White House, or else DC would have suffered much worse. However, the War of 1812 did give us our National Anthem, and the Battle of New Orleans instills a great deal of pride in Americans. I have to admit I don't know as much about that war as most other conflicts. Some people think it was a tie, some think the US lost and some say the US won.
Here is a good laugh for today.

While the 2008 Democrat convention will feature stirring speeches by party luminaries, the attendees and the TV audience will also be entertained by the musical talents of some of the thought leaders of the party. Below is a partial list of the planned musical entertainment - watch every single second of the convention to avoid missing any of it!

RNC vs DNC - the MSM?
August 26, 2008 - 16:23 ET by FoolicanI'm curious as to how the media will cover the RNC, if at all. MSM headlines, tickers, and talking points will probably be flooded with statements like this:
"More of the same," "Failed Republican strategies too little too late," "A fairly boring convention, not nearly as much spice as the Democratic hullabaloo," "No word on Bush's failed policies," "Curious lack of bipartisanship at Republican convention," "Unremarkable lineup of speakers," "Raucous crowd of Democratic posters rock the Republican convention," "Protesters attempt citizen's arrest of Karl Rove at convention - used 'crimes against humanity' as rationale," "Political analysts say Republican talking points 'prehistoric in post-modern, post-racial era'," "Abortion, gay rights stances mostly unchanged," "Eight years after 9/11, still no Osama Bin Laden," "TIME rates quality of Democratic speeches 83%; Republican speeches 32%," "Person of the Year: Che Guevara."
