For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: will a moderate VP pick by Obama anger the left?
At this point, the belief is Obama is about to announce his Veep choice, and it is rumored to be down to Joe Biden, Evan Bayh, and Tim Kaine. Yet, the King of the Netroots, Markos Moulitsas, is unhappy with all three:
Biden voted for the Iraq war. But beyond that, even if we stipulate that he has foreign policy chops, how does that make him a good veep choice?...Sure, compared to Bayh and Kaine, Biden looks almost passable, but that's a low hurdle to pass. I'd rather not have to choose my poison.
Is this VP pick important? Or will all the grumbling be forgotten in November?

Sure, Michael Phelps will receive $1 million from the US gov't, plus $1 mil from Speedo for winning all those gold medals, but did you know he will also receive free pizzas for a year from Pizza Hut? His teammates will, too. Sweet!
I am sure Lady Pantsuit will be giving her husband a "special treat" today, his 62nd birthday. I know Al Gore will be giving his wife one today, on her 60th.
Roseanne Barr: mental giant.
The shakedown of the Pittsburgh Penguins is complete. They will build a soon-to-be-robbed-weekly grocery store, as well as donate money to "community programs".

Rock birthdays today: Ginger Baker turns 69, Ian Gillan turns 63, John Deacon turns 57.
Man, it's starting to look like Chicago down there.
The "democratically-elected" leader of Venezuela uses troops to seize control of cement plants. Viva Democracia!
Today's Second Amendment Update.
The King just wasn't creepy enough, apparently. Even better!
The Bitch in the Ditch will speak at the Democrat(ic) convention. Well, actually, on the front steps of the state Capitol the morning of the convention. At 9am. Did you know her son died in Iraq? At any rate, at least she's managed to get within two miles of the actual convention. That's a lot closer than the Paulbot convention that will barely manage to be within 10 miles of the RNC convention.

"Fresh face" means someone (he hopes) is so cosmetically appealing that doing background work might be able to be projected as "immoral" or "dirty campaigning" as they are saying McCain is doing against BLACK JESUS.

May the Good Lord protect America from Russia, China, Democrats, the MSM, and Hollywood. And may Keith Olbermann's genes not be passed on to future generations. Amen.
Another instance of media
August 19, 2008 - 15:01 ET by ksennishAnother instance of media bias if other people here haven't already seen it. Bob Woodward, who is about to publish his 4th book on the Bush Administration (each has been more and more critical of it), is in the news today...
For planning on publishing a book about the Bush Administration.
No joke, I have seen TWO news articles talking about his upcoming book, "The War Within" and how deep and insightful it will be, and it doesn't come out for three weeks. Yet any book on BHO either is ignored, or blatantly disrepected as slander and libel.
I just need to think positive here, "Pew poll shows decrease in trust in media, pew poll shows decrease in trust in media."
I love these people...
August 19, 2008 - 15:41 ET by Clear thinker"Could things so obvious and straightforward as reality-oriented policymaking and realistic action planning be operationalized in ways that reasonably and sensibly conform to the requirements of practical reality which our relatively small, evidently finite and noticeably frangible planetary home imposes uniformly upon its inhabitants……..including human beings, I suppose?” Posted by S. The only obvious and
August 19, 2008 - 15:51 ET by ksennishThe only obvious and straightforward thing about that is his love affair with Al Gore.
Plus his statement is actually wrong. If you analyze what he is saying, it clearly says our "frangible planetary home" imposes 'uniform policy' upon its inhabitants. I think he missed the portion of the sentence about it being policy to address the planets ENVIRONMENTAL effect on us, not its policies on us. Our planet doesn't make policies last time I checked.
Plus, he just sided with the anti-AGW crowd here. Last time I checked, it was the ever increasing lack of 'uniformity' in the environment that is 'imposed on us inhabitants' that spurred the whole need for policy in relation to climate change in his mind.
People are dumb.

Advice for McCain
August 19, 2008 - 16:35 ET by UnsaneGreat VPs for McCain? Giuliani or Romney.
Really. Leave Lieberman be, let Palin win another election and develop name recognition, leave the "farm system" alone. Grab one of those two.
The Olympics are now under way in Beijing. May the people of Beijing get thoroughly sick of hearing The Star Spangled Banner. May the Beijing Olympic Committee run out of U.S. flags for the medal ceremonies! USA! USA!! USA!!!
Open letter to NBC Sports
August 19, 2008 - 16:38 ET by UnsaneSubjectivity sucks. It especially has no place in sports! On that note, stop showing gymnastics. I hate soccer and I'd rather watch that because at least the results are obvious and posted on the socreboard.
(Listening to the announcers discuss the scores last night was excruciatingly painful...)

I'd hate to be in a sport
