Favre?

i hope the Dolphins, the games some of these guys play just tarnishes their careers, so a bit of Favre on turf with Mayo on top would be appropriate, Packer fans must be burning shirts.

Football?  well the NFL knows there's one team to watch.

college football go Longhorns and Gators

"You can not support the Troops if you do not support their Mission"

Any team he goes to will be

Any team he goes to will be my fave after the Saints. As far as college, I have to admit I'm a 'Bama man. I know, jillions of coaches in a few years ain't good but I'll give Saben three years max to turn us around, please... I love Texas, always a great team to watch. The Gators. well, I'll be nice and keep my mouth shut. LOL! I guess that comes from the Spurrier days, great coach but something about him I didn't like. Still up in the air about Saben, I'm patient though...

"Nuke 'em 'til they... oh hell, just shoot 'em!"

compared to his career

favre's antics of late are bush league (btw 'Mayo on top' would be the Pats new linebacker)

Duke Sucks

All you need to know about Dook: http://www.truthabou...

Like MSNBC and Chris Matthews' shameless ranting about Osamba, Dick Vitale and ESPN is the same with Duke and Coach K.

Dook also has a reputation of flopping (suddenly falling to draw fouls), drafting big dorky white guys (Duke is a premium school that is very freaking hard to get into, great medical school, I just can't stand Coach Rat and the Crazies).

Negatives that the Four-Letter Network forgot:

  • Lost to VCU in first round in 2007, should have been an easy one
  • Nearly lost to Belmont in 2008 in the first round, did not deserve their #2 seed.
  • Only made the Final Four once since winning the title in 2001 where J.J."NBA benchwarmer" Redick choked big time.
  • lost in the sweet sixteen three times

Duke prestige is shrinking by the season.

AA

AA,

I can understand folks hating dynasty teams in any sport. But "Coach Rat?"

Honestly, what's the beef with Coach K? This is an ASTOUNDING gentleman that chose this school, this community, and his family over significantly more money, power, and prestige in LA. In an era when popular sports figures do nothing for anybody but themselves and their egos, Coach K soars above the pack. ns

Don't Worry Noel

Has to be from UNC or UConn which would account for the communications skill level:)

Coach K

I'm actually ripping the four-letter network. Sorry for the "lefty-style" response of calling him a "rat".

Coack K happens to be a patriot, and he played for Bobby Knight at Westpoint. I'm well aware of this. Success has apparently gone to his head thanks to ESPN-the network that brought you Keith Olbermann. The man is a good man off the court I'm sure.

Bobby Knight, hated by everyone except those in Indiana at the time, was actually a caring tough-love type of man.  A student asked him a question about the Hoosiers' game tactics and Bobby, with his scalpel sharp wit, told the kid that he should be more concerned about his weight and should take steps to improve his health. He then hired the kid as a student manager, who then lost weight and graduated from IU with a 4.0. I'm sure that Coach K is not all evil as UNC fans would like to think.

I have nothing against Duke University as a educational icon. I would trade my Division II degree for one from Duke anytime.

But the Basketball team is overrated recently. ESPN fixed it so they could put Duke at the top.

Have to agree

Duke's #2 selection last year was scandalous. Should have been 3 at best.

Can't understand it

I can understand folks hating dynasty teams in any sport.  I can't.  But then, I am not one to tear down people for becoming too successful, which far too many Americans love to do.

Whoever casts a vote for Barack Obama is nothing more than a common thief.  Whoever fails to vote against him is nothing more than a moral coward.

Must Be from UNC (UNderaChiever). . . .

"has a reputation of flopping (suddenly falling to draw fouls)"

That is called a "charge." Kind of a technical term for solid defense in basketball. Unfortunately most pro b-ball payers today never learned defense.

"drafting big dorky white guys"

And you of course include Grant Hill, Elton Brand. Carlos Boozer, and Sheldon Williams in that group. Very perseptive. Also let's not forget the college one Kobe Bryant committed to if he chose not to go directly to the NBA - Duke.

"Duke is a premium school that is very freaking hard to get in to"

We agree here unless you are a great b-ball player. Or your mommy is a loud-mother radio host and your daddy used to be Mayor of NYC and they can force your subpar golf game onto the Duke Golf Team.

Agree with the negatives particularly the past few seasons. Part of it is due to the USA Basketball Team distraction and part is implications from the bad handling of the Duke lacrosse case.

Nope...

Not that rich..sorry...

The lacrosse team got the dirt-end of the stick, and that shyster should be banned from being even dog catcher.

I can also understand Coach K's committment to the USA team.

I'm a Kansas fan BTW :)

Agent

I haven't seen you posting here before but I don't know everybody. I know that I am going to like you already. Yes DOOK sucks. That whole side of I-40 sucks. The real team is on the other side of I-40 on 15-5012 south. GO Heels

Be kind to your kids. They'll be choosing your nursing home.

I beg to differ with you,

I beg to differ with you, Ricktail. Not side, but end, as in W-S end of I-40. Go Deacons.

Rock Chalk

The Tarheels have had better success than Duke recently. But we don't miss Roy. As a loyal Heels fan I would have been mad at him for wearing a Jayhawk sticker on his shirt. If Bill Self had wore a Oklahoma State sticker on his hat I would have been riled!

Rock Chalk!

Drill ANWAR

Okay

So you are the UNderaChiever.

Being at Duke allows you a high quality education while being able to date women at UNC who wanted successful men. Best of both worlds.

By the way, exactly how old is Hansbrough? 26 or 30?

Fake Football

Is there such thing as a NB fantasy football league?
or at least a league unaffiliated with NB but with likeminded folks?

OSF

can't you go to Yahoo and be commish of one?

"You can not support the Troops if you do not support their Mission"

NASCAR is at Indy

NASCAR is at Indy also.

The next Dales Sr? How about we give this question a rest for a couple of years or so. When he gets 4-5 championships then we can break out the comparisons.

NCAA Football is going to be great this year, LSU has a good young group playing this year, and hopfully ND can get a little respect back this year.

"Television is a freak show" Bernie Goldberg

I'm with ya GC. College

I'm with ya GC. College football rocks! I'm an LSU hater but still love watch them play. I don't care for ND much but the tradition is undeniable. I am a big SEC fan. I can't wait for the games to begin! The next Dale, I don't think so, no driver can touch him as far as a driver, he is a legend. Exciting season though.

"Nuke 'em 'til they... oh hell, just shoot 'em!"

Excited about baseball?

Oh come on now, Tampa Bay a bad team up till this year and now with over 100 games is in first place, and your not excited about that?

The White Soxs and Cubs in first place in their division and the chance of a all Chicago world series and your not excited about that?

Yankees and Red Soxs fighting for a play off spot and catching the surprising Tampa Bay, and your not excited about that?

Mets,Phillies and Florida fighting for the divsion lead, with only two games apart and your not excited about that?

The Brewers and their run for the league lead with the Cardinals and the Cubs, with only 4 games separating them all and your not excited about that?

Now unless you are a fan of the Angels and Dodgers, the way the Angels are playing and as of today the best team in Baseball and in spite of a under .500% season, the Dodgers are still only one game out of first place,I understand about not being excited, but to me a LA fans, I am very excited.

Don

Don,

Great answer. I'm sorry, but my A's bite, and because we're in the same division, I HATE the Angels. Giants bite this year, too.

Just not lovin' baseball right now. ns

My Royals Stink

But there is a glimmer of hope for the coming seasons. It's going to take a while, but I can see that the players are not letting losing get to them, which means they are paying attention to their gaffes. Patience is a good virtue.

You Are Correct

For some reason I have been really into this baseball season - even the All Star Game.

I think a major reason for people's positive perspective is that past seaons were dominated by the Roid users - and this season they are long gone for the first time - no Bonds, no Sosa, no Clemons. It is back to baseball the way it should be played.

Glad to see the Yankees are not picking up Bonds - he has no business being in Yankee Stadium.

and how bout

JOBA???

I just hope Favre gets what he wants, can't handle another crying session.

94.8%

Of Wisconsin residents own at least five Packer licensed clothing items. Of that 94.8% the lion's share are #4 jerseys*. Wisconsinites are now faced with the difficult choice of a) purchasing a #12 shirt, b) continuing to wear their old #4 or c) going naked from the waist up. You see they wear this stuff to work, church, funerals, weddings and bar-mitzvahs, so choices are limited.

Most discerning folks, understanding that Wisconsin is the land of beer, brats and cheese, would prefer choice (a). This choice is the only one to which some degree of sanity can be attached. Aaron Rogers will be the Packer quarterback, PERIOD! And exposure to overweight people with big floppy boobs (many of whom are men) is downright scary.

Rogers jerseys were in evidence at last night's Brewers/Astros baseball game.

*the statistics in my post are mine and mine alone, but I'm sticking to them!

My 419 cents

(the cost of gas around us)

Duke -- only gets top dog ranking if you start the clock in the mid-80s. As the report notes, the overall title would go to UCLA.

TEAM USA -- don't care, the NBA killed the sport of basketball; I would like to see the team that won that last NCAA title before the Olympics play instead.

Bret Favre -- until he learns how to spell his name the way it is pronounced I think he should be banished to Miami as punishment. However, it would have been all the more painful for GB fans if he would have landed in Chicago (though I don't think they are interested).

Pre-Season NFL -- I pick San Diego this year.

Baseball -- my team so sucks that I forgot there is even a season going on; I've been going to minor league games

College Football -- the BCS still proves itself to be an ineffective way to determine a "championship" this year (too much parity). I prefer ye olde bowl arrangements and liked the Big 10 (who can't count) vs. Pac 10 Rose Bowl. Georgia will probably make it to the BCS championship based on an easy schedule, but not sure who they will play as it seems a toss up -- probably a Big 12 team. (Perhaps Kansas? Yikes!!)

Kyle Busch -- drive fast, turn left. (Never been a NASCAR fan, though I am the demographic for it.)

Why no RODEO category?!  Can Trevor Brazile repeat as all-around this year.  And will Chet Johnson have his much-deserved breakout year on saddleback?

Dr Liberty

while the Pats look to win the SB, the Chargers look to?  what's that tell you?http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/don_banks/07/16/chargers/index.html?eref=T1

We're talkin...

the "non-cheating" league.

<insert witty signature here>

 The ten must watch NCAA

The ten must watch NCAA football games this year are easy if you just pick any ten Longhorn games.

I need the Astros to re-build their farm system back to when it was tops in the league a few years back, they've slipped a bit recently.

Maybe, just maybe the Texans make the play-offs this year, but they are in a rough division, with very good teams.

Let Farve play where ever he wants. He will last a year maybe two tops. Broadway Joe (Rams) did it, Joe Montana (Chiefs) did it, and for God's sake Johnny Unitas(Chargers) did it too!

There was, and can be, only one Dale Earnhardt, the pride of Kannapolis!

Rex

Got to disagree with you. Pick any ten of the Jawja Dawgs games for the top ten.

K-town seems to be getting too big for its britches.

Slipped??????

I need the Astros to re-build their farm system back to when it was tops in the league a few years back, they've slipped a bit recently. Slipped a bit, you say???  The Astros are OWNED by the frigging PIRATES!!!

(Yet for some reason they still got the series against the Cubs a week ago as the Cubbies look to extend their win streak to 100 years, and they face a rubber game against the Brewers...)

It's going to be awhile before the Astros will contend again unfortunately.

Whoever casts a vote for Barack Obama is nothing more than a common thief.  Whoever fails to vote against him is nothing more than a moral coward.

Carolina-DOOK 101

I started this new thread to take up for my newest and best pal, AgentAmercan. Anybody that dislikes DOOK as much as I do is alright.

The Carolina-DOOK rivalry in b-ball was made the rivialry it is today by Dickie V. The rivalry was for years in football. That has somewhat cooled off.

Durham is a dirty city with one of the highest crime rates per capita in NC. There is a reason that Chapel Hill is called "Blue Heaven."

Even though they are only about 10 miles apart they could just as well be a million when it comes liveablity. Durham is best known for Mike Nifong. Chapel Hill is known for Dean Smith.

DOOK just kicked Rudy's son off the golf team. Carolina is proud of Davis Love III.

UNC has just as good of a research hospital as DOOK.

Ganted both places reek of libs, at least Orange County is conservative.

Coach K looks just like a rat. I know we are not supposed to talk about someone's looks but it is true.

I know of no other NCAA schools other than maybe Cal-Stanford and UCLA-USC that sit so close together physically.

Got to stop, the wife just handed me the 7 month old grandson. By the way, I am doing what I can to raise him a Tar Heel but his dad is an ND fan.

Be kind to your kids. They'll be choosing your nursing home.

Happy NDAC Folks!

Today is the National Day of the American Cowboy!

I plan to celebrate with a big ole juicy steak.

And can I get a "yee-haw" from all my Southern or Western rural redneck NB friends. (You only qualify if you live in or around a town smaller than 10,000. The closest town to me is less than 5K.)

Yee-Haw!

When is it International Talk Like A Pirate Day ?

Does a town of only 8,000 in New Jersey count?

(Plus, I went to College in Texas)

Yee-Haw!

I guess I qualify. The closest town has a population of about 900. I live about 5 miles outside in the country. There are 3 big horse farms within a 3 mile radius. I considered myself more of a redneck than a cowboy.

Knicks should improve this fall (can't get much worse.)
