White House Responds to Scott McClellan Book

Photo of Matthew Sheffield.

Current White House press secretary Dana Perino released the following statement regarding her predecessor Scott McLellan's new book:

Scott, we now know, is disgruntled about his experience at the White House. For those of us who fully supported him, before, during and after he was press secretary, we are puzzled. It is sad — this is not the Scott we knew.

The book, as reported by the press, has been described to the President. I do not expect a comment from him on it — he has more pressing matters than to spend time commenting on books by former staffers.

Scott McClellan about Richard Clark -- Fit like a 'T'

"Well, why, all of a sudden, if he had all these grave concerns, did he not raise these sooner? This is one-and-a-half years after he left the administration. And now, all of a sudden, he's raising these grave concerns that he claims he had. And I think you
have to look at some of the facts. One, he is bringing this up in the heat of a presidential campaign. He has written a book and he certainly wants to go out there and promote that book. Certainly let's look at the politics of it. His best buddy is Rand Beers, who is the principal foreign policy advisor to Senator Kerry's campaign. The Kerry campaign went out and immediately put these comments up on their website that Mr. Clarke made."

10ksnooker,   there is

10ksnooker,

there is one difference....I believe Richard Clark was a left over from the Clinton administration.  A dirty little secret the media never reports.

However I agree, it looks like McClellan is a disgruntled ex-employee.  If he truly believes everything that he says in his book, why didn't his principals back when he was Press Secretary force him to quit....

this is just typical ex-employee, who is disgruntled and it is looking to make a quick buck.  Instead of suing his boss and company, he wrote a book that he new the mass media would swallow faster than Monica swallowed.  The media is having McClelanasms and so are the Liberals.....how pathetic.

But...

...completely predictable. This will be the "talk of the msm circles" for days, if not weeks to come. It will be the excuse for not covering the Obama gaffes.

When Obama lies our democracy dies.

It's Ironic

That the same words apply to the disgruntled fired ex-employee McClellan who is now doing exactly what he said Clark was doing.

I actually think he got a signing bonus from someone to write a book that is nothing but liberal talking points slamming Bush. You can bet he will now ascend to the high exhaulted position of drive-by media Bush administration expert commentary.

I don't believe a word of it ...

yea...

If he agreed with Clarke all along, why didn't he come out THEN and report this info?

The fact is as has been known all along, everyone was saying that Saddham had WMD's.  After 9/11 was the president just supposed to sit to the side and wait for more attacks on the state?

Excellent statement put out

Excellent statement put out from the WH...

Scottie should of looked elsewhere for a job if he was so unhappy all the time...as far as I am concerned he was a total embarrassment as the WH spokesman in the press briefings...he should of been let go long before he was.

I love Tony Snow, always have and will, but I am super pleased with Dana Perino...for me she is the best, she doesn't take BS from Thomas either...

he has more pressing matters ...

Too true BigTimer. This guy was a terrible Press Secretary so now he goes for revenge. Oh what a surprise. I love the "too busy" push off, truly a classy way to say "Kiss my (you know what) little man."

I also agree with you on Dana Perino. She knows how to hand it out to dip sticks that say untruthful things about the President of the Adminsitration. I especially love it when it's a female slapping around some dipsoid liberal truth bender. They don't know how to react.

I agree bt

It just shows you who is loyal, the President, and who was a loser to begin with... I was worried when Tony Snow left, I did not think someone else would come along who was as good. Dana is just as great in her own way, I always enjoy watching her.

   He seems like the sort

He seems like the sort of fellow who lives alone with his mother, got fired, then goes back with a gun and starts randomly shooting his fellow co-workers.

McClellan called to testify!

Well I just heard on the Hannity radio show that Bob Wexler is calling for Scottie to testify before the House now... on what he knew and when he knew it, blah blah blah and everybody else in the administration..oh great, during a time of war we are going to get more blue ribbon hearings at tax-payer expense and you can be sure it will be televised on every network...the Senate I am sure is not far behind...all before the election, no this wasn't all planned out.

Btw..I knew this book was coming out long ago, but I seem to remember Scott denying some of the things that were reported in it at the time, weren't...makes one wonder.

Hope Scottie is happy....

BT

Hearings are all this congress has been good for. They have done absolutely nothing other than try to "get" the president and his administration. I was just wondering what was taking so long to call Scottie to the hill.

R1...I would like to

R1...

I would like to think nothing of this, but unfortunately this is going to become a big deal, especially when we are making progress in the war...the msm along with the leftist pols will make this a huge deal 24/7....the hearings will be HUGE news blah blah blah..what is funny to me is just picturing little Scottie stuttering, stammering, blinking with the deer in the headlight look when he testifies...this was all planned to release the book when they did right before the election and knowing full well the leftists in congress were going to use this ahead of time...period.

I am now furious with the POS McClellan...he can become the new John Dean and be proud to be one of Olbie and his ilks favorite little guest...he makes me puke.

I just thought it would a day or two story with his little trashy book...not going to be.

What a weasel!!!

I can only imagine what went on inside McClellan's head when he wrote this book. Based on what I have seen on the news today, no one in the administration had any idea that this guy had an axe to grind with the President or anyone else. Ari Fleisher has said that he doesn't know where this is coming from.

I have to say though, that when McClellan left, I was glad to see him go. I never thought much of how he handled (or didn't handle) the press. He always seemed to have that "deer in the headlights" look when in front of the WH press core. Maybe he's on the DNC's payroll. I suppose the next shoe to drop will be when McClellan comes out publicly for the Dem nominee. What a weasel.

"...peace is the highest aspiration of the American people. We will negotiate for it, sacrifice for it, we will never surrender for it, now or ever."  President Ronald Reagan, January 20, 1981

Not only will he come

out for the Dem candidate, but I'm sure he will soon be filling in for Chrissie or KO on a regular basis.  Who knows, if CM decides to run for Congress as he has threatened, maybe they'll give his show to Scott.  He DISGUSTS me and I'm sure he has greatly disappointed those with and for whom he served in the White House.  I know it's an old-fashioned expression, but SHAME ON YOU, Scott!

I agree with all of you who said Dana is head and shoulders above him in her position.  When Tony left I was very concerned, but Ms. Perino has shown she can handle the press with strength and dignity.  She rates ***** in my humble opinion.
