Matthews Mad Obama Agreed So Much With McCain

How disappointed was Chris Matthews with Barack Obama's debate performance tonight? How angry was Matthews at Obama for agreeing so much with John McCain?  Enough that Matthews unleashed the ultimate Dem insult, saying Obama reminded him of . . . Richard Nixon.

Matthews first vented his frustration at Obama adviser Linda Douglass.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Linda, my friend, why did your candidate agree so much, openly and relentlessly, with his opponent tonight?

Douglas's answer was to the effect that this is how a bi-partisan Obama would operate as president.  After criticizing Obama for mishandling the economic issues in the debate, Matthews turned to Andrea Mitchell, and levelled that supreme Dem slap.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Linda, my friend, why did your candidate agree so much, openly and relentlessly, with his opponent tonight?

Douglas's answer was to the effect that this is how a bi-partisan Obama would operate as president.  After taking another shot at Obama for mishandling the economic issues in the debate, Matthews turned to Andrea Mitchell, and leveled that supreme Dem slap.

MATTHEWS: By the way, you go back to the Kennedy-Nixon debate of 1960, the first televised debate.  Seven or eight times Richard Nixon said "I agree completely in the spirit in which Senator Kennedy addressed that issue."  Over and over again.  For some reason Barack Obama repeated those words as if he were channeling Richard Nixon tonight!

That's gotta smart in Camp Obama.

Poor Chris!

Obama upset him so much that he mixed up his possessives. He said "your" instead of "our" candidate.

O' Don' Kno'

I think whenever Obama was afraid to answer in a way that might reveal his leftist thoughts, he just said he agreed with McCain.

That's why it happened so often!   ;-)

A lot of folks on liberal

A lot of folks on liberal blogs are saying the same thing that Chris is whining about (see link). Seriously, why doesn't Chris just come out and say he's working FOR the Obama camp?

A Breakthrough Night for Obama?

He Shouldn't Worry

Matthews that is. Tomorrow, all of the MSM will declare that Obama held his own ground in McCain's turf of foreign affairs. In turn, proclaim him the winner. They'll demonize McCain, citing his being condescending, standoffish and living in the past. They''ll say that Obama drained his eagle putt in making contact with mainstreet Americans. The MSM will tell those who are hurting economically to take heart, Obama has laid comforting economic words will soothe your fears of change. This will be the spin put out by the MSM. The scary part is these [MSM blessed] points will be filtered unchecked to the undecideds or independents.

Listen, I believe McCain has already rallied his base/core constituency of voters in and out of his party. What he needs to do is to connect with the undecideds in the upcoming debates. It's so important for him to do so. Doing that, he'll take ownership of the narrative out from the MSM hands, because the undecideds will hear it directly from McCain's mouth. The MSM won't process and deliver it for him.

Why McCain didn't cite the failings of the Dem party in the last eight years where they blocked bills to reign in these GSE's. Specifically Barney Frank [who repeatedly insults McCain even on the Senate floor] and Obama mystifies me. It leaves me wanting for the knockout.

In my mind, McCain won tonight, but when I think of the Undecideds, it may well he didn't.

Obama talking point reconsidered

Maybe Sen. Obama doesn't realize the tension between portraying his opponent as running for "Bush's third term" and agreeing so often with said opponent.

He'd better be careful or the name "Barack McSame" might stick to him, the way he and his leftie disciples have been trying to apply "John McSame" to McCain.

Chris may be right this time

The wuss factor appeared again this evening… that darn Obama is just so agreeable, he submitted to McCain time and time again.  The McCain campaign already has the ad out about Obama’s extreme agreeableness, but they are missing the boat… they need to include some of the Barack/Hillary moments…. “Yes, Hillary, I agree with you.  I agree with Senator Clinton, etc., etc. etc.”  I still refer to one of those debates as the “Yes, mother, debate.”

ROFL maggiep... I had

ROFL maggiep...

I had forgot about that...now that would be just priceless, would it not...thanks for giving me a smile on my face...

I bet you anything someone will read this suggestion from you that works on the campaign...you never know... this may come up later...and if it does, give yourself credit!

Glad you enjoyed, BT. My

Glad you enjoyed, BT. My husband and I were marveling this evening about how Obama cannot even muster up honest ANGER. When displeased, he just looks annoyed, petulant, peevish.... elitist.

McCain vs Nobama

Senator McCain clearly won this one.  If only for Obama's disingenuousness which was displayed when he couldn't remember the name of the fallen soldier.

I'm hoping that Sen McCain is holding the "Democrats really started this financial mess" until the next debate.

I'm also hoping that Gov Palin reminds everyone that though she may have wanted the "bridge to nowhere" once.  Obama and Biden voted for it twice!

Snowball

And when Biden gives his spiel on  the Helecopter being forced down, I hope she quotes John Kerry on throwing Snowballs at the Taliban.

Unfortunately, they are going to try gotcha questions with her.  And I think they need to let her do more press.  She should have been on the networks like Biden was tonight.  She needs to get on a Sunday show or two.

As for Matthews comment, at least he picked up on it. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

Commercial

If I worked for McCain I'd take every one of Obama's comments where he agreed with McCain and make a very effective commercial showing who is the leader and who is follows. Someone on McCain's staff can take credit.

The McCain Campaign is on top of things.

Commercial aired only moments after the debate, and wouldn't ya know it all the Obama Campaign could say was........"thats not true" "thats not true" "thats not true" as if the debate of some kiddie fight.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Linda, my friend, why did your candidate agree so much, openly and relentlessly, with his opponent tonight?

"Your candidate"? Where does Matthwews get off saying 'your candidate' when referring to his savior? Notice he also said "my friend" which he and his side kick, Olbermann, despise. They make fun of McCain, like little school boys, when he says it.

"Forget change, I want improvement!"

Well it's Douglass'

Well it's Douglass' candidate because she works for his campaign.

I'm just surprised that Matthews had enough self-control to not blurt out our candidate !

WHY!?!?!?

Have you forgotten that he blames America first and agrees with the enemy.  So of course he would agree with BigMac

Matthews before: tingle up

Matthews before: tingle up my leg.

Matthews after: Obama is Nixon.

He really is a fickle son of a gun, isn't he?

Matthews is a Joke !

Matthews is just trying to get back into the spot light after getting the boot for being such a sexist pile of pig shit throughout his campaign coverage.
